Thank you, John! My late mom's recipe used lard. The milk ratio was vague ("add just enough so...") This is so much simpler and it cooks up just as nicely. (My preference is a cobbler.) Highly recommend John's new cookbook everyone! Cheers!

Can anyone explain what's the difference between cobbler and crumble ?
@OldLadyBakesКүн бұрын
Topping: Cobblers are topped with a batter or biscuit dough, while crumbles are topped with a streusel-like mixture. The topping for a cobbler is often dropped or spooned over the fruit, which can result in a cobbled texture and allow the filling to peek through. Ingredients: Cobblers are made with a cake-style batter that's a combination of flour, baking powder, salt, eggs, sugar, butter, and milk. Crumbles are made with a streusel topping that's typically made with flour, butter, sugar, and sometimes oats. Fruit: Cobblers can be made with almost any fruit, but berries and peaches are especially popular. Crumbles are often made with softer stone fruits or berries so they don't need to be in the oven as long before the topping is cooked. Name: The name "cobbler" comes from the cobblestone-like texture of the topping when it's dropped over the fruit.
