I noticed what appeared to be a higher noise level on my Washington and compared it A/B to my other ham rig (Yaesu FT-710), and they were about the same. I have the RF gain on both rigs turned down slightly and have set the DNR to a level "just-below-watery". It's great as a mobile as well. Nice video, Thanks!

I have the george 2 it has been a great radio it was my 1st modern radio .Nice audio with just the stock mic i find having the rx nrc set at 2 to be a nice setting .I think you will like it i have caught some nice conditions on it and had some nice contacts .I think they should have called it a george 2 plus and kept the washington name for a good new Homebase radio if they ever made one .

As someone else mentioned, get the fan kit, easy install and they are not very loud, you can also set the temp threshold and let the fans run all the time or just when it gets hot. Radio works great, have gotten good reports with mine.

@MowerJunkie Goodday from the Netherlands John. You should get the ACMD901 fan kit for the President Washington! It gets really hot because it does 80watts P.e.P. if you have modified it! Have Fun playing with your new radio!

How is it size wise compared to the Lincoln II+? given the power setting and mic gain feature, i think i prefer the Lincoln II+ but the NRC feature does have me interested. I was going to buy one until your video when i realized that there no variable power on the face of the radio.

variable power is there, you just have to be keyed-up to access it. the radio is a little wider than the Lincoln II, but not as deep from front to back.

@MowerJunkie right on. Thank you for the info. I prefer the old style of simply turning the variable. Much safer in my opinion when setting it to run an Amp.

@@Tinman386wisconsin in the menu you can limit the output power, it has 2 settings, one will limit it to 4 watts AM, and 12 watts SSB. the other setting is 10 watts AM and 30 on SSB.

Any of these "10 meter radios" that has a channel number is a CB . No need for that outside of CB LOL.The radio looks nicer than I thought It'd be. Although they should have gave it a different name.

I agree, it should have had a different name, But they did a good job with this radio, I think it's a lot better than the Lincoln II.

I don't think any manufacturer should rehash the name of previous products specialy the late 70's classic Washington Base. To name that piece of junk the same is sad.
