This video is really under-rated. It is one of the best videos I have come across to master a handstand.
@zarbis9 жыл бұрын
It took me half a year to be able to do reliable handstand press. (Funny side note: I’ve learned handstand press before handstand, so I was able to press myself into handstand but not to hold balance) I've started from yoga background so my progression was as follows: 1) First I’ve learned bent arms bakasana (crow pose), known as frog stand outside of yoga. 2) Second was straight arm bakasana, there is like million guides on youtube on bakasana progression on it's own. 3) Next big thing was tucked handstand press from bakasana... it's surprisingly easy because you are half way done with press movement. 4) After you are able to do tucked press from bakasana, before you do press movement you lower your feet almost touching the floor with your toes, unbending your knees. This is progression from tucked press to straight leg press. 5) As you straighten your legs during step 4 you start touching floor with your toes, offloading some weight to your legs. This is where real handstand press starts to take place. At this point it's SUPER IMPORTANT to keep leaning forward as you were leaning in bakasana otherwise you will be physically unable to lift your feet from the ground no matter how strong are you... physics, bitch. 6) At this point you should be able to do a handstand press without intermediate bakasana: at starting position for bakasana you don't just lean forward but you also lift you butt to make you spine almost vertical and than you lift your legs up with strength of your lower back. I know it looks super messy without visuals and ready to make clarification if anyone finds it useful.

Summary of Exercises: 1. L Sit compression in pike 2. Pike Lean (lean forward and try to shift the weight on your arms and shoulders, at some point your feet will leave the ground) 3. Wall assisted handstand presses (you can walk down the wall with your knees bent, remember to lean shoulders over your wrists) 4. Positive presses (hands on a high box or kitchen bench, pressing legs up the bench or walking the legs up with the toes) Level 2 Exercises 5. Negative presses from handstand (can use the wall if can't hold handstand yet, remember not to go too close to the wall because you need to lean forward when you go downward, can go down in straddle/pike/tuck) 6. Tuck Planch Presses (press yourself up from the tuck hold to the support planch, this will build up the necessary strength, allowed to use momentum at the beginning, when mastered, do it with control) 7. Assisted Handstand Press (elevate feet on a small box and press up from that)

these movements are way advanced , I want to learn these from basic . Do u think someone at my can learn this I am 30 .I understand that u need flexibility and strength . Strength comes when we practice but what about flexibility can we achieve that at this age because wrong move and u might end up injuring yourself and it can be a major injury as these movements are advance .
@calimove8 жыл бұрын
+kailash suryawanshi I (sven) started this kind of training with 27 years. I got my first Handstand Press at the age of 28. 30 is nothing when we talk about movements like handstand press.

+Calisthenicmovement Hi Calisthenics movement. I have a few questions for you guys and I hope you will reply. 1. When you started doing calisthenics, you do it all by yourself or you have a trainer 2. At the age of 30 you still can be able to do the split. May I ask you when did you start to train the split 3. When do you usually workout or working out is your main job(you dont have to answer this if it's too personal) Thank you, and yet thanks for the tutorials
@calimove8 жыл бұрын
1. 2012 - Do it by our selfs but we are trainer, so we got the backround. 2. El Eggs did taekwondo. He learned his split as a teen but it's still possible to lean it with 30. 3. We train people, that's our job :)

Hey Love the video, is the process the same as moving from an L sit to a handstand press?
@juliannascruggs70809 жыл бұрын
I am nowhere close to being able to press all the way through from seated using parallettes, either straight or bent arm. Which exercises are best if I want to progress into these specifically? I am female and able to do straight arm handstand press from the ground using some shoulder/core and a lot of balance and flexibility. (straddle - very easy, tuck - fairly easy, pike - less easy, can't pull legs up past 'L' shape after doing several in a row)

thank you for replying . I may have misunderstood but do u mean u are training since u were seven or u started at 27. I do normal weight training and I jog for at least 20 mins when I get time but I am not interested in this . I don't just want to build muscle , I want to build the actual muscle strength, resistance not just size .I am from India can I learn calisthenics or gymnastics . I was always interested in some thing like this but it's not available in India. Calisthenics and Gymnastics are they same ?

What are areas where force is exerted while practicing press handstand.?
@ChumX1007 жыл бұрын
Rash Pandey For pressing, mainly shoulders at the beginning and later traps. You'll also feel a lot of pressure on the wrist and for keeping the right posture throughout the movement you'll require activation on most major muscle groups at some point.
