I’m 4a/4b Natural, high porosity. Can you please please do a pressing tutorial or demonstration for 2018? -Should we use pressing creme or use a spray heat protectant? -Should we blow dry or skip that step? -Do electric pressing combs work the same as manual pressing combs? -Do the professional ovens work the same the electric stove in my kitchen? No current videos on line anywhere. Tired of the flat iron heat damage. Going back to pressing my hair like when I was a kid. My hair always reverted back. Got it pressed every 2-3 weeks back then with no heat damage. That speaks volumes!!

I bet you can press some hair☺️ I want to find me a local stylist who knows how to press hair like the stylist who use to press my hair. Some of these stylist have these 🪶 feather weight products. I want my hair pressed with pressing grease/oil for that hard press that's silky and so pretty look. When Ms Hall would put Shirley's in my hair she'd make that curling iron talk,jack lol. My hair stayed moisterized/conditioned. My hair wouldn't be total reverted back by my next two week appointment (if the rain didn't get it by not covering it lol) I can't explain it good but my hair would be stiff together but not hard hair stiff lol but together hold. God will help me find someone when I start my journey. Thank you for telling us how much better that pressing comb is. That's gift to press hair by knowing that temp without any gauge. God bless.

Thanks so much, this is great information. I have been having breakage and hair loss, no one has discuss hair pattern. I have seen three different trichologist. I am still concerned that I am not getting the appropriate hair care. Your hair is very pretty !

I went to a salon she used both flat iron & pressing comb, I experienced straight then a curl pattern the bad thing about it I never use heat period. I'm so diappointed because I call her to inform her that I received heat damage and her response was, it will revert back I have not heard from her since, now I will say with the protein treatment and bentonite clay & cutting off the straight ends it looks much better, I guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

+Shanikwa Arnett oh nooo!! I hate that happened to you...Unfortunately a lot of cosmetologist aren't trained properly on taking care of natural hair. Using the correct temperatures with a flat iron is extremely important. But never use a flat iron and pressing comb in conjunction with each other. The saddest part is she didn't care about what she had done to your hair.

Hello, what's the best heat protectant and the best shampoo - conditioner for natural hair?
@missblackamericanewyork39477 жыл бұрын
hi, love your explanations. Im natural but my hair gets so tangled in my 4a state so I want to know will heat damage make your hair break off or stop it from retaining length if you keep it trimmed properly? because I only want to start wearing my hair straight with just hot comb presses. no flat iron and Ill use heat protectant.

+Miss Black America New York I would need to know how are you shampooing to understand why your hair is so tangled. Try using a cream detangler, start in small sections holding the hair mid section as you start combing from the ends. Heat can alter the curl pattern and can cause the hair to become straight in weaker areas of the hair shaft. Trim 2-3 times a year so that you can retain length. Heat will not keep your hair from retaking length.

Wooow i didnt know these things

So if every time you hair curls up, it gets weak....is it better for your hair for it to be straight? Will that provide more length retention?
@ashelyartis5107 жыл бұрын
And to prevent single strand knots?
@Ameliasalon7 жыл бұрын
+Ashely Artis that's not what I meant... 😊 I was giving an illustration of weak areas in our hair. No it's not better for us to wear our hair straight. It's better that we keep it moisturized with a cream moisturizer. Unfortunately certain curl patterns will never show its true length. Like my hair, my length is my little secret until I straighten my hair.
@ashelyartis5107 жыл бұрын
I'm just asking because I heard that some people intentionally keep their hair straightened to prevent single strand knots, therefore providing length retention..does that make sense?
@Ameliasalon7 жыл бұрын
+Ashely Artis it does make sense.. unfortunately, straightened hair tangles and knots as well. My hair is more prone to tangle when it's straight then when it's in it's natural state. But the more the person straightens their hair they will start to weaken their curl pattern
@ashelyartis5107 жыл бұрын
What if you dont care about the curl pattern? All I care about is health and length. In the end, my goal is to be a "straightened natural"

Is it good to use a flat iron and pressing comb together?
