It's always nice to come home. I have found recently that I always long for a workplace that gave me the thrill of my first "real world" job location.

I got one of those carts with all of my tools loaded on it and it is amazing how much time it saves. I went from a normal speed painter to a fast painter just because I was not spending any of my time walking around looking. And now the cart is one of the first things I tell my apprentices to purchase if they want to be fast. My father had a masonry company and he would tell me, BOY It is not what you do but what you don't do that makes you fast.

For DIY weekend warriors like me who play around with solvent based paints, it is great to have you back. Though I enjoyed learning a little something about water based paints from you in the end your solvent work is just more relevant for hobbyist like me. Thanks for the lessons and keep them rolling.Best of Luck from San Diego CA.

Shit dude,I was a spray painter in Adelaide for 19 years and 11 months in prestige shops. Loved the job hated the way the industry was run. So I quit, did an adult apprenticeship as a electrician, got my ticket, then got into hv electrical, I'm on fantastic money. I miss painting cars every day and I was f#&*ING good at it too. Only if the industry was as good as the one I'm in now! The quality of young fellas/girls that have come up through the ranks now is totally crap. Got a repair done on the rear bumper of my Pearl white sti and the colour was out to lunch and the clear peeled off, it was shiney underneath! What a discrace! The guy tyred to baffle me with bull crap, they end up putting a new bar on my car calling the Standox rep into match the colour cause they couldn't get it right. What a joke! I hope your getting paid your worth, keep up the good work 🤙

you need to have 3m kick down some of there red bumper stands that are on wheels screw painting bumpers on saw horses the 3m ones tilt around so you can move the bumper to get the tricky areas better like fog light holes and shit like that don't buy one make them give you at least 4 especially if you use 3m sand paper

Hey Gunman, Need a little help, First time using spray gun, paining bonnet/boot/roof of XD Falcon (Midnight Blue), got tiger stripes :( I haven't laid clear yet, can I do another coat of base to try and cover them? or do I need to sand back to primer?

ok i have two questions,would a 3-5hp 200lt compressor do for messing around spraying in my shed,i plan on buying a compressor and spraying my first project,a diahatsu fourtrak ,just for a bit of fun,question 2,just when i thought i had most of my research done regarding spray guns,paint,sanding,filler etc a youtube fella said he always uses a sealer between primer and basecoat stage,............just wanted to know your view on this. cheers man
@TheGunmanChannel8 жыл бұрын
+STIPOWER97 what kind of gun you use will depend on whether or not the compressor will handle it, a LVLP gun is going to use less air than a hvlp gun, sealer not necessary if the prep has been done properly, on a respray I'd usually not do use it because it can creep inside the door gaps leaving overspray.
@STIPOWER978 жыл бұрын
cheers man thatl do.
@xtremepaintandbody29267 жыл бұрын
just what gunny said. I sprayed a 70 mustang in 2006 and I was using chroma base at the time, the color called for a value shade one sealer (white) and the car was painted orange. You could see the sealer edge in each door and all gaps. It was a disaster. I have also tried sealer over stripes on high contrast colors and the sealer edge is always detectable. Just use a couple more coats of base. If you use sealer, dont take it to panel ends
