I scoured the web for 4 months to decide which additional synth to buy. Decided to get the minilogue XD. Arrived today, am blown away by the sound that comes out of it. Build quality is a bit cheap imho, but heck the sound is awesome. They have been very smart creating this ecosystem for others to write code for it ,this is the future ! will be keeping a close eye on Korg and cant wait to see their next big polysynth.

More proof of Tim's genius, creativity and professionalism as if that were needed. Even this promotional video oozes enviable quality let alone the new VS user oscillator itself! Nice way of getting Wavestate features into XD etc. One question, is there a generic mechanism to 'import' the source waveforms or will these be effectively hard-coded ? Lack of sample import remains a slight bugbear of the Wavestate itself of course.

Thank you so much. Not genius, just bloody minded determination 😆 Unfortunately the synth architecture is not flexible, there is no way to access USB or MIDI to import waveforms....

@@TimShoebridge , the lack of USB or MIDI import is understood but I was wondering if there was scope for you to provide your compiled code as a library. Then it should be possible to have a link-time utility that would take a set of waveforms, convert them to arrays, compile them and link them to your code for uploading to the synth. While not exactly convenient it would generalise your user oscillator for those sufficiently motivated to go through the process. Perhaps I haven't thought it through sufficiently but I might attempt a quick proof-of-concept this week if I get the time.

Thank you for producing quality videos. This one makes me happy that I just invested in a Korg Minilogue XD. It replaced a Korg Wavestate that does not work with Windows 10 version 2004. VS sounds like a nice tool for serious producers.

I’d love all all digital synth from using this tech with a 2-3 osc, bitimbral, 8+ voices with this motion sequencer and UI. I don’t even care about the analog aspects anymore of the XD!

I say again, what I've said all along: the Prologue should have had the traditional Korg joystick, not wheels. And if someone at Korg could finally make a sequencer inside the Prologues firmware. Anyhow, great oscillator idea - although I'm a bit hesitant about the choice of waveforms. But I'll surely try it out.

@@YomYestreen Only the vertical axis is mappable. The horizontal is always Pitch Bend, unfortunately. The CCs he mentions are for Shape and Shift-Shape, so you can just use the Shape knob, with or without the Shift button, but it wouldn't have the same feel to it... It would be more like the Etch A Sketch version of vector synthesis :)
