I absolutely love how they've done this series and Konshu in general. Marc is the neutral personality, willing to kill others who threaten the world/or his family. "Steven" is an absolute pacifist, doesn't even consider causing violence even to an immediate threat, however he makes up for his lack of combat skills with his knowledge of Egyptian mythology and detective skills. Now we have the 3rd, "Jake." Seemingly the worst parts of Marc, utterly ruthless and seemingly no care for bloodshed, even just killing others in broad daylight. Judging from the scene in Episode 1 in the town square when Steven was being held, everyone thought it was Marc, but what if it was Jake? Notice the blood only appears during a ruthless blackout scene for both Marc and Steven. Beautifully done portrayal in my opinion.

Fair play to them for filming as much practically on location in Jordan (as they couldn't get the permits for Egypt), but for certain shots, Marvel Studios must get Disney to build more of The Volume/StageCraft sets quickly so they can utilise them instead of traditional green screen! The Gods/Avatars took disgruntled former Konshu avatar Arthur Harrow at face value too easily - they literally opened a portal for him from the dig site! Thought they were setting it up so that the one in the suit at the end there was secretly working with Harrow, but nope, turns out he also took him at face value! Layla's definitely falling for Steven which is interesting. Got another FaWS Easter Egg with the Madripoor shout-out after last week's GRC bus ad! RIP to Gaspard Ulliel.

Episode 3 Immediate thoughts… First…RIP to Gaspard Ulliel (actor who portrayed Mogart). He passed away this Jan before this show could air. Second…did anyone catch that reference to Madripoor? That’s the first tie into the other aspects of the MCU we’ve gotten in this show. Sharon was “off the grid in Madripoor”. And from my recollection a lot of shady, black market transactions happen in that city/country. So it fits with the Layla reference. There’s definitely a 3rd personality that neither Marc nor Steven know about. And based on that fact several things are in question. Is Marc the one who killed those people and saved Steven when he woke up in the Alps? Or was it the 3rd alter? The “police” said Marc was part of team that killed an archaeologist with a shot to the back of the head. But was that really the 3rd alter? Was it the 3rd alter who asked that lady out on a date in episode 1 for Steven? It seems like Khonshu isn’t aware of the 3rd alter. Maybe he thinks Marc is the one doing all the killing and it really isn’t him. I thought the hearing/trial scenes were meh. First…why was Khonshu yelling everything? Second…clearly he’s no lawyer cause that was the worse pleading of a case I’ve ever heard. He was entirely unprepared. He had no proof whatsoever. Harrow showed up, told some lies and painted Marc in the worst light ever. It was clear the other Gods are indifferent and totally unaware of what Harrow is doing. And why? Because people aren’t worshipping them the way they used to? Khonshu at least still cares enough about humanity to try and stop Harrow. Also...Marc was basically discredited because he has an illness. Isn't that quite a comment current society. Liked seeing the flip of Khonshu needing Steven’s help at the end. He’s basically had no use for him up til now. On the other hand….Khonshu was also like, “feck them tides.” Lemme revert this night sky back about 2000 years. LOL! Now that Khonshu has been imprisoned…seems like a side quest is in order to free him before Marc/Steven can summon Moon Knight/Mr Knight again and eventually stop Harrow. I can’t quite figure out what Harrow’s beef is with Khonshu. There’s definitely more going on than Khonshu punishing evil-doers too late. It’s more personal for Harrow. I may be back later with more thoughts later but this is what I have for now.

Going into this blind with no knowledge of the comics, the Avatar council scene gave me Stargate vibes, especially with the glowing eyes effect when the gods took over their bodies. Thankfully they're not evil (I think?) but I can't help but imagine how that scene would have played out with Jack O'Neill just mouthing off and Daniel Jackson ranting about archaeology and how "yoUr NoN InTerFerEnCE PoLiCY is sTuPID" - tbh I'd watch a whole crossover with that, I feel like Steven and Daniel would be instant besties lmao Also completely unrelated but as a writer I appreciate that Oxford comma shirt so much 😆

Omg. LOVED Stargate! Atlantis was my favorite. Idk what it is about the Egyptian lore, but this show makes me want to look up the mythology.

LOL! I can't stop thinking about Stargate while watching this! Jack mouthing off in the temple would have been solid gold. Haha!

I have no idea if this show is trying to be accurate to IRL DID, but something to consider is that, while DID pretty much always begins in early childhood, once you've got one alter, you can further "fragment" later in life and form new alters at the onset of new traumatic experiences. Even if Steven or Marc are the original personality, it is entirely possible that there may be a third alter that has never emerged, especially if its due to new trauma (for example, whatever happened with the archeologists in the desert).

me: so I guess Khonsu can tell them when it happened and they can swipe an astronomy app to the right night and boom, done. Khonsu: yes let's swipe the entire sky wow that was gorgeous

Astronomy apps are guesstimates. They probably aren't accurate. Not as accurate as khonsu, who lived through the actual night, would be. 🤷♀️

This IS the BEST Marvel show!! It is SOOOO good!!! And I completely agree with you, Eternals should’ve been an series instead of a movie.

Do we think that the 3rd alter is who took over in the 1st episode instead of Marc? Given the violence and sweet driving skills that a certain taxi driver would know.

That episode felt like a goddamn movie. There was no fat on that episode. Great performances from the entire cast. Thanks for reacting guys!

“Mark’s POV with Steven jumping in in between the cuts” Me: are you sure about that?? 👀👀 Jay calling the Ennead avatars the Egyptian Power Rangers was amazing 🤣🤣

In the comics Marc has 3 personalities: the solider, the business man, and the street level.

Absolutely loved all the lore in this ep. The scene where Marc seamlessly transitions to Steven & we just see the subtle shift in his expression absolutely blew me away. LOVE Oscar Isaac as an actor. And of course, RIP Gaspard Ulliel 💔

20:33 The third identity is Jake Lowkey, he has the worsts parts of Marc but still has a heart. He's super violent but, in the comics, he also had a romantic relationship with a woman (I forgot her name) and a daughter so maybe he was the one who arranged a date for Steven P.S: His original identity is Marc Spector

I know we all are talking about Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke, but what about F. Murray Abraham. He’s voicing Khonshu so well. Edit: the Eternals should have been a show

Unlike Harrow and Steven/Mark/Alter 3, the avatars for the other gods seem to have a better "working" relationship. Hathor's even appears to be friends with the goddess. Khonshu, on the other hand, seems to have a user/abuser relationship with his avatars. Harrow talks about being broken by Khonshu and Khonshu berates and threatens Steven/Mark.

The actor that played Mogart sadly died in a skiing accident earlier this year. Which is sad cause he never got to see how successful the show is becoming.
