Especially that song.

Hello! So a little refresher going off my own memory. The Isle of Glintshore is where the party went to go after Ripley. They managed to get there after commandeering a Skyship and that was where Keyleth did her whole 8th Level Control Weather for the first time. There was a gunpowder trap set, and then a battle between the group and Ripley + Kynan (wielding the dagger Whisper) + Thugs. In this battle it was nearing an end and then Ripley did in fact kill Percy. If memory serves Ripley was then briefly hit with Banishment, and then the rest of the group completely tore into her once she reappeared. Percy was brought back to Whitestone, a Resurrection ritual was performed, and for the first time the individual of focus for the ritual actually didn't want to come back... until Vex spoke up and Percy was willing to return. This is all based on memory though so feel free to correct!

I think he was on the fence about it until she spoke up. And I've been there, feeling like a you had a good narrative run with a character. It's one of the reasons I like Mercer's resurrection, it helps you reconcile what's enough for the player with what's worth living for to the character.

Scanlan trapped Ripley in a Resilient Sphere, I believe, then Vox Machina as a whole executed her. Then the episode ended with Percy still dead. The first half of the NEXT episode (i.e.: before the break) was some cleanup at Glintshore and then the resurrection ritual. Notably, Taliesin has said that if Pike's attempt at channeling divinity help with the ritual had worked, he wouldn't have had Percy return. High rolls otherwise and the rest of the cast's words and actions (especially Vex's, and Laura's nat 20), convinced him.

In my opinion this is Percy's finest hour. I'm sad he's gone, but he did beat Ripley. Against all odds he beat her and Orthax. Then he achieved the moral victory. He overcame his fear, hatred, and revenge. His offer of mercy and justice may have been his downfall, but here in his final moments he become the man he was always meant to be, Lord Percival Fredrickstein von Musel Klossowski de Rolo III, he who knows darkness and welcomes the light of redemption.

Percy did die on the isle of glintshore, killed by Ripley/Orthax. They had to put him in the locket/pokeball to bring him back to Whitestone. They did do a resurrection ritual and that there was something that Orthax had his soul and it almost went vastly wrong (Taliesin said he had a back-up character ready to go, which was Mollymauk Tealeaf) but they players at the table rolled just well enough and spoke so well enough that Tal decided to come back as Percy. We'll see how things go the rest of this season. And I can't wait to see what happens to Ripley/Orthax now. Also, yes, that was Trent Ikithon, voiced by the incredible Mark Strong. Note: Ripley's dad seems to have been voiced by Lou Diamond Phillips, which made me lose my mind! Talk about getting some NAMES to voice characters. Especially since M9 show should have Trent in it for sure!! WOW!

Kash even said the only chance was to do it when the body was still warm and even then it didn't work. In the lore of this show, Pike hasn't even died. So there's no question that they're bringing him back. The only question is how to do it in the animated series without it feeling super cheap.

Percy did die at Glintshore. If i remember right, this was the first on-stream death that couldn't be solved by revivify. The cast was pretty upset, cause they thought it might be a permanent death of a player character.

Percy dies in the campaign too, in the episode Cloak and Dagger. Actually, he dies twice. And then no one has a revivify spell left. After the Raishan episode, it's the one with the most deaths and times knocked unconscious (and half of those belong to Percy). (According to Critrole stats.)

I'm sure plenty will say it but Percy did indeed die on Glintshore. They had Scanlan but not Pike, and Keyleth was out of slots so they had to camp in the mansion on the island with dead Percy. They all slept in a pile in the foyer of the mansion with Percy on a table. They were able to get to Pike when they got back to Whitestone the next day and res him, but there was something of a fight with Orthax over his soul so he *could* come back. My water genasi druid's favorite wildshape so far is giant centipede. I crawl up the wall and drop onto people. (I can't do flying creatures yet) The silence counter at the end fuckin killed me XD

As others have noted, Ripley does kill Percy in roughly this fashion in the campaign. Note that her gun glowed when Percy died, that not new either. The key differences so far are in the timing and Ripley's escape.

In the campaign, Percy does die on Glintshore, but they've completely rewritten this section of the Chroma Conclave to emphasize themes from the table. It's the reason why all the characters stand out in a way they didn't at the table, especially Pike since Ashley couldn't always play due to her shooting schedule in New York. Crit Role basically took the week-to-week comic style of the tabletop and turned it into a multi-part fantasy epic novel. That is unironically cool and speaks to just how good the writing team is, since I believe Liam and Marisha are leading it more.

I'm curious how they'll handle this in the show, because, yeah, in the campaign Percy dies like 3 times, but he's brought back every time. So having seen the next couple of episodes, I'm curious to see how different it is. I'm guessing whatever Pike's new arc is in this show, will be tied to her bringing him back

This isn't actually new, percy did in fact get killed taking Ripley down and they were able to do a ritual to bring him back. However since in the show Pike hasn't been established to perform resurrection its kinda unclear how long this is going to stick for and honestly i'm here for it. It's great to be able to see these events from the tabletop happen but gojust differently enough that you're still left guessing.

So... I feel like what's going on with Pike right now and "having faith in herself" is not actually a good thing, at least not fully. Pike has had (albeit brief) interaction with the Whispered One wayy back in season 1 where she was trying to commune with the Everlight and saw a brief glimpse of the Whispered One in that dark empty plane... I don't think that was just a vision or in her head... I think she spiritually shifted to the plane the Whispered One is trapped in, and he likely got a tiny foothold in her soul at that time. However, because she was still devoted to the Everlight, that's all it was... a tiny foothold. However, now look at what's been happening with Pike. She takes a trip to Hell, and meets Xerxes and what does he do? He goes out of his way to drive a wedge between Pike and her faith in the Everlight, instead pushing her to 'have faith in only herself'... but we know that Xerxes has become a follower of the Whispered One and the symbol he gave Pike to "get them out of Dis" was not actually his symbol, nor was it the symbol of Asmodeus/Lord of Torment... it was the same symbol that Delilah carved on her arms when she was specifically channeling the Whispered One. Pike thinks she's using divine powers now drawn from her own blood and faith in herself... but that's likely only partly true. She very likely has a unique ancestry that gives her that special blood... but her power very likely is now still being supplied by a god... just a different god than what she may think. And it's a god who has every interest in letting Pike continue to believe she's doing all this herself, because the Whispered One isn't just the god of undeath and necromancy, he's also the god of Secrets and Deception.

Although Percy dies in a similar way in the original story, I just can’t see them killing him off indefinitely. He’s one of the most beloved characters in the show and as we know in DnD characters come back from the dead all the time. Plus there’s plenty of hints to show that he’ll be brought back. The gun glows after he’s shot suggesting Orthax has possession of his soul meaning Vox Machina will have to either fight Orthax or make a deal with him to get his soul back. They revived Vex so they’ll likely do the same with Percy. His body has gotta be decayed some by now tho, I really don’t want zombie Percy lmao. Maybe Pike can heal his body once his soul is returned.

Probably because Delilah had to run away with Sylas after the Cobalt Soul discovered she's turned him into a vampire. After they met Ripley in Nicodranas, she probably convinced her that the Assembly was both their enemies. Plus, despite Ripley's hatred of magic, she still very much liked using it to create better weapons of war (she was using it for bio-chemical weapons in the Empire), so she probably needed access to mages.

Delilah got ran out of the Empire by the Assembly. She could have easily played that enemy of my enemy angle. Besides, Ripley is willing to walk into ancient dragon's lairs for her own ambitions. Working with Delilah was child's play.

@@GameknightJ14 It’s pretty much the one and only time Percy talks about his experience, apart from simply saying “Death was not pleasant” when Vex asked him about it shortly after he was resurrected. In both cases the subject was quickly changed. It always bugged me in the campaign that Percy soul definitely got tormented by Orthax for several hours, and most people didn’t even notice. (I know Percy was already well-familiar with trauma, but damn, someone please make the guy properly unpack that experience!) I really hope that the show does what the campaign didn’t and truly digs into what it means for Percy of all people to have been shot by an Orthax gun, and by someone with reason to wish vengeance on him.

In the campaign, Percy died in the fight with Ripley, but he was revivified pretty much immediately.

to be fair ripley did kill percy in the campaign in episode 68. while he was unconscious ripley did shoot him dead in the big end fight vs ripley he was ressurected later, and i expect the same here ... otehrwise it would be a to big differgence for he upcoming story arcs where percy did a lot and even later campaigns and stuff

Not only that, it was Orthax who got Percy unconscious for Ripley to land the killing blow.

In the flashback I'm not sure if it was Trent but I was certainly saying it was him the whole time. The counter for you two to talk towards the end was amazing!

I don't know how the campaign goes but the part I'm hung up on as far as getting him back is the gun took his soul. We saw it light up as he passed. So if they did try a rez, would that even work in this context or do they need to free his soul from Orthax first?

I was in total shock, so was a friend he latter told me that in Critical Role, Percy made it out but Ripley did not. He was just as shocked as you where. So now what happened from now we don't really know. 😁⭐🌈

This did happen in the campaign during the Chroma Conclave arc. Ripley killed Percy though it didn't play out exactly as it did in the show.

impressive how they’ve handled death on the show. Tabletalk There’s ways to overcome death at the table, and Matt’s rules add needed drama. On the show, they’ve executed emotional beats so well, with animation delivering in different ways than the table. And they’ve changed enough you have to wonder.
