Love the show and this pair in particular. I do want to say, though , that one of my pet peeves with football analysis is "Well, this QB struggles with pressure." First of all, 99% of QB's on Earth struggle with pressure 😂. Second, a lot of Bakers' best plays have come against pressure this year... Third, Mahomes, when under pressure in the Super Bowl against the Buccs, managed zero TDs, three interceptions, and no TD scoring drives at all (this speaks to my first point). My other pet peeves is how people overuse stats like the Baker stat that was mentioned mentioned. Stats lack context. The Mahomes stat I used for instance doesn't mention the dropped passes while the Baker stat doesn't account for what he does when he does escape pressure.

I agree. This discussion failed to mention the remarkable number of times Baker saved a play by scrambling out of pressure, miraculously in some instances. Also, the pressure this year isn't because Bake holds the ball too long or is indecisive. It's because the pocket collapses immediately. I expect the pressure to ease off as the O-line gets healthy and /or makes adjustments. This year so far Baker has one of the quickest releases in the NFL, which we saw in the 1st Q against the Saints. I also want to throw in that Mike Evans had a streak against the Saints of dropping like 4 balls in a row that hit his hands. And a rookie dropped a wide open pass in the end zone that hit his hands. Bakers stats therefore dont reflect how accurate he was in the Saints game.

Mina, you are usually spot on with your analysis. You keep saying the Texans are running too much, but last game Stroud had 42 pass attempts. The Texans have usually abandoned the run by their 3rd-4th drive. Asking a Qb to just drop back and throw 100% of the time would potentially expose them to big hits without even having the threat of a running game.

Erick Kendricks is listed at 232, fields is 227. Overshown is listed at 220, Cordarrelle Patterson is listed at 220. Last I checked that makes Kendrick’s slightly heavier than fields and overshown the same size as Patterson

The current Saints coaching staff were pretty much all fired from the Raiders after Andy Reid took over the Chiefs, and proceeded to dominate the AFC west with Alex Smith. There is such a huge coaching mismatch between the Chiefs and pretty much every other team on both sides of the ball. The exceptions are maybe; the Harbuaghs, Payton, Bruce Aryians.

Tell me how does it work that Kirk Cousins is having a slow start to the season because he's only 4 games into learning a new offence and develop timing with all his new playmakers, and we should expect that to improve significantly as the season goes on? But Sam Darnold is only 4 games into learning a new offence, and developing timing with his new playmakers, but he is on pumpkin watch?? Mina and Dan Orlovsky were two people that stuck with Sam from day 1 and believed in his ability. Sam's underlying data at the Panthers was all there for any competent analyst to see. In fact Sam's throws on target and bad throw percentages were almost identical to Cousins and Rodgers through 2021 and 2022 when he went 8-9 with the Panthers. Sam, like Kirk, is improving week to week as he irons out details in the offence. Two weeks ago a play broke down and he tried a ridiculous shovel pass, this week two plays broke down and he took off and ran for two first downs. Last week a handoff to Jones went awry when two players went in motion, and he tried to lob a dangerous pass to Jones. This week a handoff went wrong and he covered up the ball and surrendered to a sack. These charlatan cliche analysts who got it so wrong on Sam can't seem to handle the truth, and seem to be willing Sam to fail so that they can regain some shred of credibility. I think they have still got it completely backwards - and we are probably watching the floor of the Vikings team, not the ceiling. Expect the Vikes to take another step this week and I think this game could get really ugly pretty quickly for a Jets team that have so far been more hype than substance.
