It wouldn’t change the prices. I think that’s what people don’t understand. It’s an auction. It’s what the bidder is willing to pay. The bidder doesn’t care how much of a percentage the auction house is taking. There are other auction houses that take lower fees but people still buy and sell all the time on heritage. The only person that benefits from a lower fee is the seller. They might care, but the premium/fee/etc has no impact on the price paid in an auction.

I agree with everything you said in this video. I'm sure there are bidders who will bid way too high on a 9.8 like that X-Men #101, hoping to hit it big on a quick flip if it gets a 9.9. Probably over 90% of buyers go for the number on the case and not the actual grade of the comic. I like buying 8.5 copies of books because they still look fantastic at a fraction of the price of a 9.8.

20% is kinda high in my opinion when your talking prices of $5k. I'm new to the comic world, but I have sold cars at auctions, I guess its truly night and day.

Imo I think auction houses should get the commission from the seller. It's their items that the auction house is selling. They "hired" the auction house to sell their items so they should be paying for that service. The buyer shouldn't have to pay the commission. They are already paying to buy the item.

It’s all the same. It is coming from the seller since the seller isn’t getting that money. It’s not like you’d get the book for less if the premium wasn’t there. People would just bid the higher number.

Auction houses are like landlords and car salesmen - they’ll do anything to squeeze out as many dollars as they can. They have no morals whatsoever as long as the money flows in. That includes adding ridiculous fees just to add ridiculous fees.

It's an auction. Why would Heritage chase away the seller by charging such a premium fee before any sale occured? They use the seller fee as a negotiating tool too attract big money sellers, sometimes offering a lower seller fee percentage to bring in those sellers. Heritage wants the auction price to be solely dependent on what the buyers are willing to bid up to.

I think I saw that you have a Walt Disney C and S #1. Let me ask you, if you had a choice of a 3.0 blue label or a 6.0 with a purple label, the modifications are not reversible, which would you choose biz wise.? Both covers present well. Curious as to what you would choose.

I would love to pick up a high grade tomb of Dracula 10…. But honestly, I’m holding off until we confirm that marvel will will not do the movie. I just have a feeling if the movie is made, it’s gonna be absolutely horrible crap and tarnish the value of the book.😂
