I won't say 'Heavy Clothing', to my knowledge, a sapper's uniform is almost the same as a standard infantry's uniform (with a few changes to the design, I presume). They're just built different.

And considering the somewhat above average headshot multi that the stake has (2x), it is actually a good option to go for a Zapper's head with the stake, given it deals the same body damage as a pike (50) when hitting headshots
