Thanks for the review! Regarding the lower stabilizer mount. I could be wrong, but I think the intention is to mound the back bar hardware on the inside of the riser where the surface is flat. Also, cam lean is not induced via those floating yokes. There is a shim kit that can be utilized to move the cams left or right between the limbs. I think it’s supposed to come with the bow so you might want to ask your shop about that if you don’t have any extra shims. Thanks again Brandon. The production quality of your videos is great! 👌

I wonder if the shop kept them... They just started carrying the brand. I'll look back through and clarify what I see in the manual. I could have sworn they twisted up at the shop. Sounds like I'm wrong. I'll add something in the description box. Thanks for letting me know!

Went into the local shop to shoot the black 3, and they did not have one in stock. But they did have a black 1, which I liked shooting so much I ended up purchasing. It is a little loud. But overall really like the bow. Was slapping arrows together in the dark the other night at 20 yards. The bow is loud, especially compared to my Matthews. I did put some lock tight on some of the screws and noticed that helped. Great content man, love the videos.

Also, Primes can be finicky sob's. Be patient, once you get her tuned perfectly the way she wants to be. MAN....You'll fall hard in love with it. Primes are like no other bow on the market.

As far as your comment on the transferable warranty. Nope Prime, Bowtech, Hoyt, PSE, and Elite and Expedition do not have transferable warranty. Elite use to have a transferable warranty up to 2016. Athens and New Breed have lifetime warranty no matter how many times there is a new owner. Great videos by the way 👍 your videos are a breath of fresh air in the archery information & reviews , tips & tricks on KZbin. Thanks great job 👍👍😀

You mount the back bar stabilizer mount on the front (flat part) of the rizer. It’s not meant to be bolted in from the back. I’ve had my Black 3 for about a month and absolutely love it. Also Prime has been doing the free string replacement for awhile. I’ve had a Prime Rival for 4 years and have received 2 new sets of strings.

After reading you previously owned a prime before the back, how does it shoot compared to the older models? I wanna try prime but not ready to drop a grand on a bow yet. Then again i have noticed the resale of prime bows to be up there in price. I have seen defys go for over $400
@1976kingdom
@1976kingdom 4 жыл бұрын
Romo NoTony the Black 3 definitely holds better and I like being able to adjust the drop off into the valley. For example on my Rival I run 29” draw but I have to run my valley deep to get the extra draw I need. I would probably be better off running a 29.5 set of cams and keeping my valley shallow. On the Black 3 I adjusted the cams to a 30.5 draw length and shortened the valley up short like I like. I really like that they changed cams so we can adjust them without a press. As far as perfection goes there is still room for improvement, it seems to be a little louder than the Mathews vxr, but I like the Primes hold a lot better (not so top heavy). I don’t see investing in a prime as a bad investment especially with the new cams. It will definitely help the resale being able to adjust the dL to the buyer.

Nice quick overview of your thoughts on this sweet bow. I like the format of this series that I remember from last year. I like the unique color choice as well. I have been thinking about a new bow for a couple years, even though I have yet to take an animal with my PSE that I have had since 2006 and has been my ONLY bow in my life. Well in my area there is a lack of Pro Shops and if there are any they don't advertise that well, so all one has is Cabela's and Sportman's Warehouse. Thankfully a buddy of my cousin's recently opened a small pro shop not far from me and I stopped in a couple days ago with NO intention of buying anything, just wanted to check the shop out and see if they would be able to show me the difference between a budget bow to mid price like one would see at Cabela's and the flagship bows that are not sold in big box stores. I was interested in checking out a left handed Hoyt Torrex XT that was in my price range. Well they hand one and I liked it and thought well here come the spring after tax season I may pick one up. Here the owner had a barely shot PRIME Black 3 in Grizzly Brown and Realtree Escape limbs for $600 with no sight or rest. I called the fiance to discuss and ended up with that bow. I am excited I just have to put some accessories on and start shooting.
@RBush-id8zm

So the string policy is something that Prime has always done..maybe because they utilize several strings but it's not because of the black series. The warranty policy is solid. If you don't register the bow you can simply sell the bow and the new owner can register it, but you may want to keep that to yourself. The noise issues, make sure the string stop is touching the string BUT not pushing it, check all screws for tightness. Once everything is assured to be tight, all the noise should stop.

The Black Prime is like magic when I shoot it. I love target shooting and put a lot of arrows through my Black 9. The balance, lack of vibration, and especially the way it settles in on the target so quickly. Having the lowest center of gravity has an advantage. Like your videos . I agree when you say shooting a bow is like a zen experience. You're either totally focused and in the moment or your arrow won't be were you want it.

Out of all the manufacturers Prime interests me the most this year. They are a solid bow. The only kick on them I had before was the draw length spec cams. They have addressed that with the new adjustable system. The fit and finish on the Primes are second to none imho. Looking forward to seeing the accuracy and shooting test video.

Eh from Canada. Great vids Brandon I appreciate them and I genuinely get a kick out of your sense of humour lol. I’ve been with a prime for 5 years now and I’ve had several people ask about the lower mounting hole, typically they mount flat on the inside of the riser otherwise you’ll need a spacer in terms needing a longer bolt and possible unwanted slippage, so I normally recommend mounting on the inside. Cheers Brother

Prime has been doing 2 year sting change out for several years, not just because of this particular bow. Big selling point they decided to use. With warranty and to get the string replacement you have to register the bow to you. Some people that plan on not keeping the bow never get them registered so the warranty will be good for the next person. Also when you register it thats when you get the hat and stickers.

Great video! Lower stabilizer mounting point is to help with counter balance. It works somewhat like a 10 degree down stabilizer mount. It is suppose to allow you to be able to use a shorter and lighter stabilizer to get the same results as the others. This is a good option for some hunters. I shot this bow once it was nice! I went with another manufacture instead. However, while shooting today a notice a crack in one of my limbs. In 30 years of shooting bows I have never had this happen. I guess I get to see how good that manufactures warranty is. I would love to see speed test of bows at 60lb. I know a lot or archers who are opting to shoot at lower pounds these days. I am one of them due to a shoulder injury. Kept up the good videos and the humor. If I decide, and can get a refund for my current bow this one is at the top of the list. The grip is amazing.

Nice review Brandon. I have a Gripper which I haven't adjusted in a year mounted 2 the bottom of my Prime CT-5. A Limbsaver 8" going on that with 1 weight. Main stabilizer is a AAE 12"Street Rod with 2 weights on that. I haven't touched anything. Had a problem b4 where I would draw & when I hit my anchor point I was ALWAYS holding low. It has never happened with this Prime setup. Holds steady & shoots quiet with 500 plus grain arrows. I'm a FOC freak. My brain can figure out how 2 put the arrow where I want it, but if the target moves it's all 4 nothing. The bow's center being lower might have something 2 do with it which leads 2 a steadier hold on target. When Prime does 5 things 2 accomplish a goal & not 1 or 2 it got my attention. Think they have a nice cam adjustment 4 draw length but I would rather have my CT-5 w/o the hula hoops which r better than I thought they might have gone to in the final design.

Your doing awesome man. Keep it up. I have the CT3. Your correct on the double cams eliminating almost all the hand torque. You can obviously still get facial pressure on you string when anchoring but the bow holds on target dead still. Also mine to was a little noisy. I had to put 2 monkey tails on top and bottom plus added 2 Limb savers on top and bottom. Also it is last years so there’s no draw length adjustment. It used to be that they would swap the limbs and cams as a set (at least that what they did with mine). But I found there is 2 screws that are kind of hidden on each cam and if you press it just a little bit they will be exposed. Those screws were noisy I removed them and added string wax to them and that eliminated that little tiny rattle. Now I did have a tendency to let my bow hand jump slightly to the right with that bow when I would shoot allot and get tired. The fix was of course holding my form better. As Nd squeezing my shoulder blades together through my shot process , however I don’t have that with any other bow. Could be a mind thing but no matter it’s still there. A very nice bow none the less. I’m thinking about trying the new black series.

I want to give you my input on Prime. Great bow, but definitely loud. I changed the stock limb dampers out for the limbsaver and it made a big difference. I also use monkey tails on the strings and my latest purchase which was a new stabilizer CBE Torx 7.5 inch also made a big difference in sound and vibration. I probably have $1500 in stabilizers and it is the best yet. Prime is a great shooter. It's not Matthews when it comes to sound and vibration. I cant wait to see your 80 yrd. challenge result.

Elites warranty transfers 2016 and older. Athens are 100% transferable. And Athens don’t get near the praise they deserve. Great bows great price. They even come stock with Gas strings

I've wondered about Athens. I may see if I can do some more boutique brands next year.

@@brandonmcdonald6121 Brandon I value your opinion and commentary in these videos. I was wondering if you’ve ever tried the FOB fletch and possibly make a test review, perhaps a back to back comparison of the FOB vs standard fletchings? P.S. thank you for the Ranch Fairy interview

I’ve been wanting to buy a Prime for three years. I have a few issues with Prime that stop me from purchasing one. Number one is the grip. I like to use a custom grip in exchange for any grip the bow comes with. That’s one of the first modifications I do. This is not possible with Prime because the grip is the riser. There is no cut out in the riser or screw holes to accept a custom grip. I find that I prefer a grip with more meat in the heel to help my initial draw of the bow. It picks up my sight picture instead of initially aiming low. Number two is the brace heights and the IBO speed. I wish they would make their shorter axle to axle bows with a 6” brace height. Why do I need to buy a 35” ata bow in order to get a 6” brace? People buy shorter bows because we are less concerned with forgiveness and more interested in reaching higher speeds for hunting. A 6” brace is still plenty forgiveful. Number three is the noise. I like that they use a 7000 series aluminum but is this the cause of the noise? Can they keep the 7000 series aluminum yet provide better dampening in front of the riser sort of like Mathews did with their harmonizer? I’ve purchased bows from Mathews for the last five years because I’ve found them to be the best in all regards, however, I do not like the switch mod technology. I don’t like that they use the same limbs for all draw weights. Getting more flex in a carbon limb is not how additional draw weight should be achieved. Last year I bought the Traverse instead of the Vertix due to my concern. This year I bought the VXR because their two flag ship bows both had the switch mods. I haven’t set up the bow yet so I can’t comment on how it shoots. My concern about the switch mod is based on the physics of the shot sequence of the bow once the string is released. Additionally the limbs will not last as long as limbs that were crafted for a specific draw weight. I should not be able to get a 75lb draw from the same limbs I can get a 60lb draw. Lastly, I don’t like that Mathews had to do away with the 75% let-off mod. Serious archers prefer a heavier holding weight. I wanted to buy a Prime instead but my primary concern about the inability to use a custom grip stopped me in my tracks. If Mathews continues this trend of manufacturing away from serious Archery and more towards one bow for everybody, this will be my last Mathews bow.

The Marclan, I owned several Mathews back in the day when they had the wood grip that fit my hand right. I now have the Prime CT-5 which has held me steady on the target more than the previous model I had. The grip on the Prime feels like the old time Mathews as well as the custom takedown recurve which i have shot 4 years. The bow I bought in 2018 just didn't give me the consistency of the Prime. I have a Centurgy @ the shop getting the cams switched & I'm curious 2 see if it stands up 2 the CT-5. When I shoot the Prime it just feels like there aren't going 2 be left or right misses. Shoots true & all u need 2 know is the distance & I'm hitting my mark. Haven't had that confidence in a long while.

Stopped watching when you said it was loud. Based on what? It is a bow. This type of opinion fits right in with the comment that a bow draws heavier or lighter than its actual draw weight. Hilarious.

So much of archery is sensory and subjective. The "louder" comment isn't. That's verified through a decibel reader. The Mathews and elite are quieter. I haven't done the hoyt yet. The question is, is it too loud? That, I won't be able to answer. The draw info is purely anecdotal and my opinion. All that said, I'm going hunting next weekend, and the Prime is the bow I'm taking. It's the one that's the most dialed in right now, but if I didn't really like it, it wouldn't be coming.
