I worked with Prince for 3 months about 30 years ago. Long days and nights. I recall working 12 hours a day. Prince worked 24. He'd finish directing his film (Graffiti Bridge) for the day, and get right into one of the sound studios to work with one of the bands he was producing. It was not uncommon for him to pick up an instrument (or sit down at the drum set) to illustrate how he'd like the song to sound. Some great players and singers came through here. It was always busy. There was another room, appurtenent to the vault (and yes, it was a true vault, complete with the requisite steel bank vault door), which was the ultimate chill room, nicely lit, draped and covered with big comfy pillows. Prince kept his cool stuff there: his Grammies, Academy Award and yes, his Purple Rain motorcycle. He also had a backboard, rim and net nearby, where he'd shoot around (often in high heeled shoes), and a garage full of full-size 1960's cars. He was never out of costume, and hair and make-up was his first order of business, every morning. This typically took place at his Chanhassen home. Prince's upstairs office and apartment at Paisley Park was his private domeain, and while he could sleep there, Paisley Park was not his primary home. Price liked to party, and he'd often call one to order at Paisley Park, typically in the lobby area with the caged doves. Prince's posse was always ready. They'd wheel out tables full of excellent food i.e. huge piles of fresh jumbo shrimp in Minnesota winter, and the sound and lighting systems were plugged in and ready. Everyone had a good time, including Prince, who'd dance out onto the floor amidsts all the others. His parties were gifts and meant for others to enjoy. I recall him stepping aside on the dance floor one night to allow me more room to fully express myself. Oh, and music was always played at maximum volume. Fantastic!

I’m on vacation for the week. I fix machines and have to travel around the USA and Canada so when it’s time to rest I have to rest in my guitar work shop which 2/3’s of the basement. And then go to my studio room to record demos to eventually choose one diamond in the rough. Prince had his world he created. I have mine. Like we all do. ✌️🎸😎🎸✌️

As private as Prince was during his time here on Earth, he knew that his purpose was to create a medium for people to receive the message of love and spirituality. I also believe that through his music he would achieve immortality. Some say they feel guilty for watching this but I feel deep down that this is what he wanted after he physically left us. He is still blessing us with his gift. We are witnessing the immortality of Prince...he’s going to be “here” forever💜.

Beautee Fluellen ... I completely agree with you on this one! Hard to imagine but just think if you possibly can like if you can get your mind to wrap around it ... after our generation here on earth, if the world is still here, imagine the numerous generations after us NOW who will be listening to and enjoying this most gifted artist's music, song and voice that we today will never get to hear or experience. We (this era) got to listen to the beginning of this most prolific artist's music and song but the generations to come will be able to experience the Prince of tomorrow through his music and song that we will never know of today because it's locked away in this vault. I always knew Prince was still working on and making new music behind closed doors through out his career and lifetime but geez this little guy was busier than a bee to say the least. He would put a bee and its whole colony to shame lol! With this said, it gets back to what you were saying Beautee and I agree and that is he was put on this earth to send a message to people in hopes they would receive the message of inner peace, equality, spirituality and most of all love. I do believe that even though he's not here in the flesh anymore with us he's with us through his music yes but also in spirit and always will be for generations to come as long as the earth is still here. How lucky we were in our era and generation to have been able to share this planet with such a beautiful, unique and most talented/gifted person God has ever made in this thing we call "life". Thanks for your comment. Couldn't have said it better myself O(+>

@@tootsiebabe3555 No, it’s definitely in the right hands. You’re hearing new music right? … Exactly. It might’ve left Paisley Park but it’s in a safe facility where it should be. All the contents are being digitized, it’s not just sitting on a shelf. Just to let you know there is only a matter of time before tapes run out so it was saved by the bell. We don’t know what he had wanted. Prince just said in a 2012 interview, “someone will release them, i don’t know if I will get to release them”. And also to add to that, Prince’s staff and people actually said to the archivists during the whole digitizing process that Prince actually forgot the code to the vault, he was locked out. That could be why.

Look at the sheer volume of stuff in there...there's no way we will ever hear the vast majority of it in our lifeitmes. There's just too much. It was said back when Purple Rain came out, there was enough in the vault for him to never have to work another day in his life. That he could retire and still live like a rock star off what was in the vault alone...and that was 36 years ago.

What is especially sad is that all of us....the HUGE Prince fans of today.....will not be able to enjoy all of what’s in the vault. We are the ones who have a true appreciation for the man who we followed during his time here on earth. Hopefully down the road, future generations will have an appreciation too but will it be as strong as ours? I don’t know....I hope so. Also, I don’t feel Prince is being disrespected (as some have stated) just because his vault is being catalogued and “handled” in some way for future display (hopefully). How is that disrespecting him? That’s what he wanted. He also wanted Paisley Park to be a museum showcasing his life/musical career for all to see. His wishes are being realized....just hope there are good & honest people doing all of this for him.

All the contents of this vault have already been moved to iron mountain for catalog and repair. Every show he did was taped or filmed so he could watch it back and learn just as athletes do. Then there’s the time he spent in the studio. He claimed that he needed therapy for the amount of time he spent in the studio, kind of a “musicians anonymous” because he was doing one song everyday. It will take years to just catalog it all, and then remaster it. How much of this was meant for the public is now an unanswerable question.

I never forget after 2Pac died, new music came out every year and one of his friends went "Dam Pac, how much music did you do". Well needless to say Prince beat 2Pac miles away when it comes to unreleased music plus videos too. Man I hope I'll live for a long time when all of the unreleased music comes out so I can hear it. Probably some gems in that vault. I also hope they put all this material in place where there's no damage. Johnny Carson bought a salt mine vault in Idaho(I think that where it is) and it's underground and all of his Tonight Show episodes & footage are in there so it won't get ruined. I hope they do the same with Prince's music and videos.

I'm sure a lot of artists would kill to raid this precious vault. Prince has launched careers of other artists that would have been unknown. Music labels are wary of him. Male Artists no matter how far or big they are in the Biz, knew better than to bash, criticize or cross him. Female Artists would go to his side and be his muse, his talent, his lover. In each and in any way, they can get something like a big break, an album, a piece from his estate and (my most favorite) a piece of all that sexiness.

Wow. AND we will probably never see or hear half of it in our lifetime. I'd love to hear it all. And see it one day. But like he said you would be a different person after and he also said he would give it away. Will be interesting to see what new executive estate owners do with it all. I vote for us hearing it and seeing. For free. But yeah. RIP prince 💜

Kim Harrison Thank you Kim, I thought I was the only one who felt funny looking at this stuff. I'm sure he probably wouldn't mind now that he's gone though. Whatever he left behind just is what it is but I'm definitely uncomfortable with all of this "looking behind the wizards curtain" stuff, it's off putting but you know some people are just leaches and exploitative parasites that would exploit ANY thing for a buck or one second of attention, SMH....

Darrin Robinson you have shared a couple of my thoughts...yes, he was revived after having to make an emergency landing, so he KNEW what the drugs could do. I feel he was planning his way out and followed through with it. I've felt from the beginning that his death was not accidental. Prince was mysterious while living and wanted to keep his mysteriousness going, even in death; however, I don't think his death is too complicated to figure out. I've found it quite simple. One thing is certain...he is no longer in pain. I suffer from chronic back pain. Pain is a horrific thing to have 24/7...pain makes you ill. Prince was ill...he needed pain medicine and it jall just spiraled out of control and when he couldn't control something, it wasn't good! I certainly don't know the details, but feel as though he didn't want the embarrassment from knowing that his "fams" would learn of him going into rehab. I believe he just wanted out! No matter what though, he is indeed greatly missed!!

Allegedly Prince recorded pretty much everything he did when he was in the studio working. He would turn the tape on and just record anything, and everything, this according to his one time sound engineer, Susan Rogers. Many Prince gems yet to be discovered.

Prince owned several homes all around the world. Paisley Park was not his home. Prince has more than one vault of unreleased music. Paisley Park is just one of the vaults. Prince told Kurt Loder this in a MTV interview back in the 2000’s. Prince is a genius and a highly intelligent man. Prince has a will and it is going to come to light in all do time. Prince will go down in history as the Greatest Musician to ever walk the universe and beyond. More vaults of unreleased music will be found in the coming years.

speechless. Say for argument' s sake he started recording at 20 (most likely a lot earlier though), passed away at the age of 58 that makes 38 years of musician' s life. Let' s say out of these 48 years he was on the road for 1 year in total - leaves 37 years of living in and around the studio. Let' s say even Prince had one day of per week with 52 weeks per year that makes 314 days left with music. Each day has 24h. Let' s say he spent 12h on music (probably even more so!). My total number of hours are 139416. So give or take just a little short of 140T hours worth of music in and around Pasiley Park. Can we even begin to grasp this?! My problems are: 1) is it right to touch this? 2) is there anyone who can finish it somewhere close to where Prince would have taken it? As reclusive as he was in life would he really want us to interefere with this? The answer can only be: OF COURSE NOT! So let' s leave it at this point and keep Prince in our memories through Purple Rain, You Sexy Mother F****, Kiss...and so many more great traques! PEACE BE WITH YOU MY BROTHER!

Well, if you look at it like this, he has 39 albums, some of them double/triple albums, & only 30 percent of his work has been released, only sad thing is' people grown up with his music will never get a chance to hear it all, its all good in one way, if he didn't have a single song in the vaults he left us with 39!! albums!!! we have life long fans of MJ who only has 6 solo albums, or Nirvana with 5' & if they can survive with that Prince fans are already set for life, I will just be happy if they re release all his albums with a extra disc of vault music from that time, like the Purple Rain deluxe, which I'm still blasting out, no doubt his better work was after 1995' but those albums sound perfect, but the albums from 1978 to 1988- all need remastering

Very interesting! Awesome! Prince is indeed my most favorite artist of ALL time. I absolutely adore him. I hate so much that he is gone. One thing on my bucket list before I die is to visit Paisley Park. As we can see from this video, Prince was a truly prolific artist. He lived music 24 hours a day. Honestly, my dream job would have been to be a care taker and personal assistant to Prince. I would have loved to have lived there and oversaw Paisley Park while Prince would be on tour, making sure that Paisley Park remained safe and unharmed. That would have been a true blast! I hate to this day that I never got a chance to meet Prince. Those that did are so fortunate! He was a fascinating man and a true genius. Prince continues to live on through his music. Peace.

Who seriously believes there was no will? All this and his huge legal battles with record labels etc and he didn't think to protect his legacy/assets? One of the very first things done (probably while his body was still warm) was to drill the locks of the vault and empty it out. I'm paraphrasing here because I can't remember the exact quote but basically a record exec said they (presumably the record label) would have a great time now Prince is dead.

Original and Unique Private World of Prince should be respected and untouched. It's His Works. He did have a passion to teach upcoming artists but this is his personal Work and an invasion of his privacy. Lest there's a written Will or authority by him before his transition. His Works shouldn't be improperly misused. His family, his group, should only have access
