Yes, "Sometimes it Snows in April", was written on the same day of his passing, 31 years to the day. Good conversation guys.

It wasn't written on that day but the basic tracks were recorded on that day.. According to Princevault. www.princevault.com/index.php?title=Sometimes_It_Snows_In_April

That sounds like a strange coincidence. Even if sometimes it snows in April wasn’t recorded that day, that means no wonder I had that album blasting it the week he died.

I also thought of FRIEND, LOVER, SISTER, MOTHER, WIFE song that he wrote for his wedding song to Mayte…..it's the ultimate expression of love for someone. She represented his deepest sentiments that one would share genuine love in all these separate categories...but he combined all these categories of honor and love in one deeply intimate sentiment for Mayte at the time! It made me cry because of the beauty within his heart towards her. This is a great wedding dedication song also for a man to offer to his wife. The way in which Prince sang it...you could feel every word!!

Just saw this one and wanted to add my list. 5) The Beautiful Ones. I cry at that scene in the movie every time. 4) Friend, Lover, Sister, Mother/Wife. How sweet and loving that one woman can be all those things to him. 3) There Is Lonely. The thought of him being lonely breaks my heart. 2) Papa. The thought of abuse breaks my heart, and he sings it so emotionally. Honorable Mention goes to Sometimes it Snows in April, although it doesn't really make me cry outright. And 1) I Love U But I Don't Trust U Anymore. The thought of betrayal hurts my heart. Beautiful and touching. But I love how he ends it so strong..."you will not anymore"...
@andrearubidge66356 жыл бұрын
I really enjoyed this show. I agree with both of you. All are sad sweet songs.Funk Child warmed my heart. He was so knowledgeable about all the songs. I loved that he shared his feelings with his Mother. I think any mom would love to have him for her son. I know I would. I hope you will have him on again. Prince’s Friend, you had a beautiful smile on your face,but I know that was to keep you from crying. It’s been 2 years and I haven’t stopped crying yet. I really miss and love Prince,and my heart goes out to Mayte. May God Comfort those who are still hurting.💜🙏🎶☮️

One of my favorites is "The Grand Progression"; makes me cry every time I listen to it. And l'm 14, if you couldn't tell before. Got a whole Prince channel and everything. Notice the profile pic? And it's great seeing other young, knowledgeable Prince fans on here as well. Most teens my age do not know Prince, or if they do it's usually something along the lines of "He's gay!" "Why do you like him so much?" Used to make me mad, but not really anymore. I have just come to accept that I will be judged as a fellow lover of Prince and his music (sometimes harshly).

very cool to see a young Prince fan/fam 💜 My tearjerkers, since he's passed, are: 1) Way Back Home 2) Eye Love U But Eye Don't Trust You Anymore 3) The Breakdown 4) Condition of the Heart. 5) Comeback. Honorable mentions: Purple Rain (because it was my first Prince concert, but yeah, too many people playing it now have sorta dulled its' impact) & Sometimes It Snows in April (because when I saw The Revolution in concert a couple years ago, Wendy's heartfelt intro to the song and her & Lisa playing & singing it, you could feel the emotion, they hadn't done many concerts at that time, so you could see & feel the authenticity & rawness & Wendy's tears).

Hi PF,,,, I enjoyed this so much the first time, I watched it again today. If you ever think you need a side kick , I think Funk Child would fill the Bill. Guess I am partial to the younger set,as I was a Teacher for the Hearing Impaired and Autistic Children for 26 years. My heart is with our future Adults Of America who have special needs. Thank you PF for helping to include many youth learn and to discuss music.. In most schools, music has been removed from our schools. I didn’t teach music ,but I love it. I can’t discuss music,but you can. I just love it. It makes me laugh and cry. It’s like a good movie. 83

Completely agree with Forever in my Life. Oddly enough, I'd never really paid that close attention to that song until I saw your review on Sign O The Times and the first time I listened to it after watching the review it did make me cry. Now I've listened to it every day since then. That's the type of forever every man hopes to one day have. Then of course Sometimes It Snows In April. Makes me cry a river every time I hear it. Not only for Prince who is my musical hero, but it also makes me think of my cousin who passed away over 20 years ago.

Having an old person moment. Ypu see, back in the olden days, an actual "tear jerker" involved a sad, sloppy story that was strategically written to make ypu cry and not just a song that was emotional or poignant. The term was a bit derogatory...it applied to soap operas, melodrama and songs like Last Kiss or Tell Laura I Love Her. The closest I can think of to an actual classic tear jerker by Prince would be I Could Never Take the Pace of Your Man, and even then...Prince is not sloppy about it, just natural
@staceyteater38367 жыл бұрын
Awesome list guys. They all were definitely tear jerking songs. But you guys forgot one of my favorite ones that makes me cry and especially now that he's transcended and that is "Until You're In My Arm's Again" from the New Power Soul album it really gets to me every time I hear it. But yeah Funk Child is definitely a cool kid.
