As others have revealed in this thread, Ron's mind must have exploded when he learned that Prince was not part of the pre-rehersal! He just walked out there and did his thing. What cracked me up was how many guitar enthusiasts, including so many pro's in the industry for so long, fèll to their knees at this performance, because they had no idea that Prince was capable of doing this. But for those who closely followed him throughout his career? None of us were surprised. We knew it all along.

Yes P is playing his beloved Mad Cat Hoenher ( a copy too). He bought it back in late 70’s in a local store in MPLS for $30. It’s part of his signature sound.

Prince was inducted that night too and on tour (I was in high school but grew up in a house with adults who loved his music so I paid attention) so he didn’t practice with them and I believe after he left this performance he had another show to do 🤣

Yay! Another Prince reaction. I’m loving your musical insight. To answer a couple of your questions. Jeff Lynne is the guy with the glasses. He was in ELO. You may know their song “Don’t Bring Me Down.” It’s actually Steve Winwood on keys (not Paul McCartney). He had a solid solo career and was in the band Traffic. They are amazing!!! Really recommend you check out their stuff. Please keep reacting to Prince. I previously recommended “Guitar” from The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and his live performance of “America” because I thought you’d enjoy them, but I’m always happy to see any Prince performance. Also, as some have mentioned, Prince was inducted that night. The set he did of his songs was great, too. It’s here if you ever want to take a look kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJfWXp6qiNejr5osi=x1LNqEpDEsKYnjsT.

The dude with sunglasses was guitarest/vocals for ELO. The dude playing keys is Steve Winwood if I'm not mistaken. I think I've watched this video like 200 hundred them. His purple highness is playing a Hohner Madcat. I've been a huge fan of his since I was 15 years old, Dirty Mind era. Aparently he only showed up for one rehearsall and only played for a minute, and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were very worried. The guitar was given to Opra, she sent it back the next day. Thank you for reaction.

The first electric guitar solo is by Marc Mann of Electric Light Orchestra (ELO). The guy with the curly hair, hat and cool transition shades is Jeff Lynne, lead singer of ELO.

Prince never REALLY practiced with them. He told them not to worry about it.😊

Prince showed up for practice, but Michael Mann hogged the solos, blocking Prince from playing his solo. Prince stayed cool. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Director, Joel Gallen, told Prince, "let Mann go, you will do the outro solo. Believe me, I will straighten him out. Just do your thing." Prince left the rehearsal. So the band wasn't sure Prince was going to play with them. They had no idea that he was going to blow everyone's gauge with his solo!💜🔥🎸Prince blew everyone away, including me!! Love, love, love him!💜💜💜💜

He practiced everything with them except his solo part. Cause they ran out of time during rehearsal. That's why the reaction on the guys faces were genuine! He is a legend rolling stones definitely got thier list wrong!

You HAVE to watch Empty Room live in Montreux 2009. Reactors tend to fade the video and/for flip to prput rain drops over it and pause so it won't get blocked,.

I would just add that Prince wasn't able to rehearse his solo part at the one practice session he attended with the Traveling Wlilburys. He intended to, but the other soloist, Marc Mann, beat him to that second solo during the group practice. (I'm assuming he just wasn't made aware that Prince was brought in to do that part.) Prince was such a workaholic when it came to his music--I have lots of faith that he put in hours of practice on his solo. 🙂🎸

Nope, Prince didn't practice with them. He said he had it plus he was trying to prove a point as being one if the top 5 guitarists because of the awards didnt acknowledge him. He showed all of them.
