Guacamole Takis recommended. Also, many pens in the US have commissaries. As a prisoner, you have an 'account', which family and friends can fund. The account also receives any wages that may be earned while imprisoned. There's usually a limit of several hundred per month that prisoners are allowed to spend at the commissary. It's one of those 'good behavior' incentives that often gets taken away for infractions. The prices are generally marked up by a large amount and some of the commissaries are entirely privatized. There's also big business in 'prisoner care packages'. Prisoners generally aren't allowed to receive mailed packages from private citizens, but you can go through private 'approved' companies to mail in items. Ramen (often not available in the commissary), religious items, clear case electronics, clear tubes of cosmetics, etc are common items sent in through these 'approved' third parties. Basically, there's a lot of money behind 'preventing hidden contraband'. The US prison system is a giant business and not a good one.

This is an excellent video, Paul. The video is cohesive and feels, for all the right reasons, like a professional production without losing Digitiser's edge. This might sound like a strange compliment, but during the video, I always knew what I was watching and why. This more structured approach really helps to bring out the best in the 'guests,' too. One of the channel's best so far.

Enjoyed the new setting, felt like the space gave it a less manic feel as you weren't banging into this which made it flow better. Bizarrely the video I watched before this was someone making prison wine and trying those crisps so was a nice flow in my viewing.

Agreed. Less manic, with better flow, but that was chiefly down to thinking much harder about it beforehand, planning more than we have done, to give it some structure. That helped us focus, I think. The manic stuff will always be part of the channel - and we've got some manic ones coming up as part of Digitiser Deluxe - but I think it's important to keep it varied. I did want to make that revolting prison "wine" - pruno, they call it, I think - but wasn't sure I could do it without poisoning everyone!

Everyone knows that Omelette Ants have been banned in prisons because of how they were used to smuggle in contraband...and for the massacre of an entire prison once the ants couldn't find any more ingredients for Omelettes. Word has it, that somewhere out there those ants are still making omelettes out of the prisoners to this day!

The flavours are barbecue, ketchup, sour cream & onion, and salt & vinegar, by the way (each of those is a common flavour of chips itself here, hence ALL-Dressed being a combination of many). The Whole Shebang is actually mentioned on the Wikipedia page for All-Dressed as being a similar flavour that was introduced by the prison supplier Keefe Group in 2016, the exact same year that Frito-Lay started selling All-Dressed Ruffles in the USA. SOMEONE GET THESE FINE FOLKS AT DIGI SOME ALL-DRESSED!

They sell tabasco tomato juice in my local supermarket, for people who need to make a bloody mary extremely fast or something, and inexplicably, tabasco popcorn. Eli's wrong, the Huy Fong brand sriracha sauce that's most common in the west was created by a Vietnamese immigrant in America in the 80s, but the sauce itself was invented in Thailand. The exact date isn't known (nor is the exact creator) but it was either in the 1930s or earlier.

Will Digitiser ever go back to games? At least a bit? I feel its been 6 months since a proper gaming video :( I'm sat here in my digitiser t-shirt and thinking "where are the games?".

We did some games stuff in last week's ep - Pokemon, Digimon, Super Punch-Out - but... truthfully, and I know it has cost us subscribers, probably not in a major way. There are so many retro gaming channels, the scene is pretty much saturated, and the topic is extremely well covered by other people. And they do it better than I feel I can do these days, if I'm honest. That's what it boils down to; I tried forcing the gaming stuff for a long time, and I was no longer enjoying myself. 27 years of covering games, and I feel spent on the subject. I think you need it to be your all-consuming passion, and for me it just isn't anymore. That said, this years's Digi Live is once again going to be retro gaming-themed, and it's in our blood, so I'm sure we'll do gaming stuff again... but I can't say when. Sorry if that's disappointing, Stinger. You're not alone if that's any consolation.

I've been told those crisps taste like All Dressed flavour in Canada, some US ex cons have said they prefer those. I like them too. When I moved here years ago,k the crisp flavours weren't many and they weren't fancy. All Dressed has always been there.. It's all their flavours, and you forgot they also have ketchup in there too.
