Alfonso nailed dementors. I’m genuinely, to this day, still unnerved by the dementors in this film. I don’t get that feeling for the others at all. I don’t why but the raspy noise, the clock being more wavy so when they breathe in or they move it just feels awful to look at. It’s just always affected me a lot and I can’t put my finger on why exactly. He is the king of long-shots and does them amazingly well when they can sometimes come off badly.

The reason McGonagall gave Hermione the time turner is because Hermione was the brightest student in the school and wanted to try every single class she could (she gave up divination and muggle studies by the end of the year restoring a normal schedule). McGonagall had to jump through a bunch of hoops, do a bunch of paperwork with the ministry and basically signed papers saying "if Hermione fucks up the timeline it's on me" Edit: also, the reason Harry couldn't hear himself scream Expecto Patronum across the lake is because dementors at close range block out all sight and sound basically drowning someone on their own misery. Harry would've been listening to nothing but voldemort killing his parents and unable to hear anything beyond that

I think Cuaron’s direction is why this was always my favorite of the films. It’s so inspired and the setpieces have unmatched energy and flair. The way magic is used in the movie seems much more fleshed out and feels like the template the rest of the movies would follow. The pacing of the movie is also great, it moves so fast and incorporates a lot but never feels bloated.

There are so many little 'magical' details in this one that I love and show why this is such a good series: the night bus with the guy sleeping in the bed as it jostles around and the shrunken Jamaican head, the man stirring his tea by twirling his finger above the spoon, the kids in the choir holding giant frogs, the POV scene through Hogsmeade, Lupin's belongings packing themselves. All of it is weird but without trying too hard. Along with that, the standoff scene with Lupin, Snape, Lupin, and Pettigrew always stood out to me as a showcase of some of the best British actors ever.

Boggarts move into things like trunks and wardrobes and need to be exorcised. Lupin requested the rest of the staff not get rid of that specific one so his class could use it as a practical lesson. See, the five seconds it would have taken to SAY THAT IN THE MOVIE WHEN IT WAS ALREADY IN THE BOOK is just one of the things that would have been a much better use of time than the knight bus sequence. regarding Hermine talking to werewolf Lupin, I think it was one part fear, and the other part was her being hopeful he had taken his potion. She might have been hoping on the slim chance he was still in control of his mind.

@clover2739
@clover2739 Жыл бұрын
I don’t think think it was supposed to be intimidating, it’s a whole thing in Harry Potter that being a werewolf is a disease. They are treated really badly and they are always really sick and tired and sore and there’s a lot of prejudice for them as people. Lupin got bit at 4 and his whole life he has been very ashamed of being a werewolf and it’s extremely painful, most people would rather die. Lupin, unlike some other werewolves like Greyback hate who he is and tries to repress it which makes him weaker and even more painful. For most of his life because he would lock himself up he would attack himself in werewolf form which is why the shrieking shack was seen as haunted because it was him howling and screaming every month. I think the werewolf being designed to look like that wasn’t to be intimidating, but to really show how sick and bad condition he is. I think another werewolf who embraces it would look a lot stronger

My older sister is a walking encyclopedia of Harry Potter, to the point that I'm pretty sure she could write an entire follow-up series. I once asked her about the time-turner thing, and apparently all of the time turners were in the Ministry of magic, and were subsequently destroyed at some point (I haven't seen all the movies nor read the books lolol) and are stuck in a continuous loop of being destroyed which is why they aren't used during later crucial moments. Hope that clears that up, in some way! This is my vague memory of her answer though so maybe take it with a grain of salt. (●'◡'●)

8:00 but from the way its shown in the movie the time turner can change anything that's happened, everything they did when they went back in time happened around them earlier. so if someone died for example, you cant save them, otherwise you would have already saved them. So if works alright as a way to go to multiple classes in school when those classes are at the same time. and you can learn information about what happened in the past by going back and witnessing things from a different perspective. you could also possible fake things. like if you thought someone died, and you go back and set up an elaborate situation that makes it look like they died but didn't then you didn't change anything,

I had a terrible memory for actors. But the change of the director and tone and mood of the movie contributed to it too. By the near end of the year we see hermione as a ragged mess due to how little time she has because of all of her classes and homework she get. By the end of the year she turns on the time turner because she couldn’t handle the strain. It’s hard to explain but the way it’s done here is a a closed loop, so everything already happened. Buckbeak never died even before they showed the time travel

@@MrSMD-rr9xw yeah it’s a closed loop so it’s already happened, when you see the executioner ‘chop’ buckbeaks head off it’s always been the pumpkins. They are just insuring they do it again to stop the closed loop. That’s why Harry says ‘I knew I could do it because I’ve already done it’

Alfonso Cuaron is my favorite director. You can just scrub to any random moment in his movies and the cinematography will be so astounding that you can frame it and put it in a gallery.

I love how that whole journalism thing that was a plot point in so much of the series has completely gone by the wayside for some people. Like some people will form their opinion on a person solely based on biased reporting and take it as gospel truth and claim to be huge fans of the series.

I always assumed after seeing the hp finale that they gave Hermione the time turner to attend more classes so she can gain more skills and knowledge bc dumbledoor etc new Harry was gonna be a big part in the inevitable demise of voldemort and what not?

7:13 Actually, Filch did have the map. Not to monitor the place but to keep away from everyone else. The Weasley twins find it and give it too Harry because he couldn’t get into hogsmeet.

Filch probably didnt know how to use it or what exactly it was or maybe he could not open it as a squib, otherwise he would definitely have used it. I dont think he know exactly what it was or how it worked, otherwise he could have someone else to utter the words to open the map and never close it, he would be able to use it, the same way snape was able to see map lupin left on his table in poa

I always thought that Harry seeing his corporeal Patronus fending off the dementors (and not hearing himself shout the spell) was just the Time-Turner's way of dealing with someone seeing themselves time-traveling. But that's just headcanon.
