Just started playing single player for the first time (played bnet on and off for 15 years) and I managed to find 2 bers, a sur and ohm within my first maybe 150 runs. Haven't found any more yet since, but it blew my mind seeing as finding a hr on bnet was like seeing a damn double rainbow.

I started running L.K. with a new sorc. and I managed to get a Ber on the 2nd or 3rd run. But after that it took me over a week to find something decent (a Gul today). Thanks for posting this. I didn't even think about the Act 4 trick to save time. Cheers!

That's the great thing about single player. You can quit and enter games as fast as you want. No temp bans, no "failed to join", no naming games, and probably much faster loading times. Not to mention the maps are saved. Definitely increases the efficiency of farming/running by an insane amount. I can only imagine getting a singleplayer bot to do these types of runs. The speed would be unreal.

BTW, the reason /p7-8 is the best setting (in 1.13+) is that there are 11 sur patterns. It is very sur-heavy. IIRC there are 3 ber patterns but it is considerably less. Still, max efficiency LK is one of the best and safest ways to get ~ber-jah by cubing.

You look like you're going to miss a lot of rune drops doing it like that since all the items don't show in that manner. Fixed patterns means some of the good limited high rune patterns are in massive drops that can easily be missed with Diablo 2's annoyingly limited item display. Or are you able to see them during the toss somehow to avoid fishing for them? I found it better to pop the right chest first and then the left one second after I got what I wanted from the right one, otherwise a massive drop from the left chest will hide the displayed drops from the right one. Found that aspect of doing Lower Kurast runs annoying/tedious, otherwise it's kind of pleasant and relaxing to do lots of them. Decent place to get charms and flawless gems too.

Even in legacy you couldn't /players online, If you make an offline character you can't transfer goods. This is an offline holy grail character meaning getting every item in the game with perfect stats. You can do this online and the results will be the same just lacking in the drop rates unless you can have some friends afk in your game which will ofcourse increase the loot you receive.

10 hours and the best I've found is um. Got some skillers though and a sweet 20 life 17 mana sc. Also the weapon and armor racks have determined drops like the chests I think? I found a weapon rack that drops colossus voulges often

Weapon and armor racks in later versions of LoD are semi-stable. IF you take the same path over and over they will have a high chance of dropping the same item. IN older versions, like 1.07 (also very popular to play) they are even more stable, so racking the best uniques is quite easy once you have a good map! Some things that reroll racks: 1) minion spawning (hydra, valk, etc.) 2) monster spawning (hence path affected) 3) popping other racks So a good map for rack-running would have a bunch of racks in a mostly linear or circular path that can be traveled a few different ways to pop them in a different order, and with a healthy mix of testing with hydra.

Hi MrLama! Rutger again, First of all...thanx for getting me back in to Diablo 2! I play single player only and it gets me through dialysis :) I am trying to get high runes for my sorc, I have been doing LK runs for the last 2 weeks now and all I got was 1 Vex rune and a couple of mal runes, combine that with some Fal, Lem etc I now have enough to make Delirium, however the infamous Bur rune is still eluding me (I am looking for chains of honor). I am not getting Sur, Um or any others, am I just unlucky? Or is there a patch I need to get? My character is level 85, I am playing on Players 8, LOD version 1.13d (I think, it could be c) and running the latest version of Pluggy also, I haven't actually beaten the game on Hell difficulty yet. I believe it takes 15 hours on average to get a Ber rune from LK assuming you are opening 6 chests (2 fire camps) in about 20 second runs nonstop...and this is your best chance for Ber in the game lol. odds ain't great

Got D2 on launch in 2000 and played it for a couple years and then every 5-7 years I'll pick it up and play it obsessively for a few months. My favorite game ever. Somebody already answer this in another comment. Hold alt before popping chest and in that split second u can see if runes dropped or not. I also use this way to make sure no rune missed. Hope that help.

AFAIK, it's only the players x setting (or actual amount of players) that counts. Players 1 will negatively affect the number of item drops from the chest -> less runes. Supposedly, /players settings of 3 & 4 have the best chances for high rune drop patterns.

I'm not sure. Part of why LK is so good in SP is because you can just reroll for a good map and then do blisteringly fast runs. In multiplayer, you'd have to reexplore the map every time, and most of the maps would only have one of the "two rune huts" patterns anyways. That being said, I don't know, LK is so great that maybe even despite these issues in multiplayer, it might still be faster than some the multiplayer alternatives. But it's going to be far slower and I think that Countess will beat it for lower HRs (Ist-Gul-Vex or so, taking cubing into account) and Travincal or Chaos might beat it for the higher-up HRs.

I think they are very close but P3 may give slightly better chance at Ber runes, however P7/P8 give even better chances for lots of other higher runes so I like running that

Also, in older versions you don't have the option of hitting 'H' for hell so it saves a lot of timing repositioning the mouse into the center of the screen while hitting enter

In singleplayer you can simulate a multiplayer game by typing "/playersX" - X being a digit from 1-8. The game will then calculate drops, monster health etc. like if there were multiple players in the game, even though you will be still on your own.

On B.Net, the map layout for LK will change for every run you do. It still "works", but you will take much longer looking for the chests and memorizing ALL the possible layouts for LK.

Here to correct you. your information applies pre-1.13 ;) /p7 is now the best. For 1.07-1.08, it is unknown what settings are best (but can't be changed in single player anyway) and in 1.09 it is also unknown.

The best hero for LK runs is assasin with burst of speed+mind blast and open all chests logs skeletons on players 7. Same on Upper Kurast with 2-5 superchests. Last MF turnament i played HC assasin and from lvl 1 to Call to Arms HOTO infinity fortitude i spend less then 40 hours of playing.

the point of the LK run is open everything not only superchests. Other chests skeletons logs have the same rune dropchance and yes assasin is the best. As i wrote in last MF tournament i have 3 HR from Superchests and 13HR + tons of Semi rare runes from other stuff. So my experience is running only superchests is wasting of time in LK.

*Plu Ke*, the Countess just isn't worth it for high runes, even if you cube up everything she drops. And you need to factor in the time to farm for the gems to do the cubing as well.

*Plu Ke*, Sure... but *which* higher rune? Cubing up runes eats up a LOT of gems fast. And even if you get gem drops while farming on Hell, they'll mostly be either flawless or 'regular', while you need chipped and flawed gems for runes from Amn to Um, meaning you have to farm for those sooner or later. And really, cuging up to the really high runes from Countess drops is just unfeasible. Basic math - the amounts of lower runes and gems needed quickly become astronomical. Now bnet is a totally different thing, of course.
