I learned a few tricks in beauty school that can save some money. If you love your normal foundation but want less coverage; mix it with some of your facial moisturizer to create your own tinted moisturizer. Depending on how you mix it, you can run full coverage into medium coverage to a tinted moisturizer. This way you can choose your coverage day to day.

Your cheetah/leopard print top is lovely with your hair. I remember years ago seeing one of Wayne Goss' videos and he discussed how blush placement can add years. He said that applying blush to the apple of the cheeks drags down the face. Apply blush along the cheekbone and blend upward.

As a chronically ill person, I can confirm that this is excellent advice. For example, when I'm anemic, my lips completely disappear, and lipstick (though very badly needed) would hide the fact that I ought to have a blood test. So don't doll it up for your yearly physicals! You might be hiding low key liver problems or a thyroid issue and not even know it.

Im in my 50s,and those dark reds/berry lipsticks I loved so much not only age me, but take any color out of my face :( I also learned that the corners of our mouth start to turn down, so when applying lip products avoid the very corners of our mouth.

My routines have changed a lot over my 51 years. A lot of these are so true. The first one I can point to: eyebrows. You are 110% correct. Dark brows age you. I switched to a shade that was 2 shades lighter and it instantly softened my look. Blush is another. I used to forgo it in my 20’s but not now. I contour lightly, blush in the apples and then highlight. Ties the face together. My other fix: thick dark eyeliner. I softened and thinned the upper lash line and quit using it on my waterline and lower. It made me look way younger.

Great tips! I have oily skin and I powder my whole face because I find that my powder blushes and powdered bronzers just blend more naturally that way and don't stick patchy to the foundation. The key is to shave the peach fuzz first of all and secondly get a setting powder that's a good shade match to the foundation. Afterward use a great setting spray to emulsify everything and it will dry down and not look too mattified or dusty. I know these are extra steps but they do make a huge difference and make up looking professional and like natural skin

One thing that I've come to realize at 41 years old is that stark, defined lines do not look good me anymore. I love Rimmel glosses and tinted balms for lips. My makeup routine changed a lot over the last couple years and coincidentally, I adopted a lot of the tips you mention. I wear less makeup now than I did in my 20s and I feel that it looks so much better. I don't line the lower lash line or put mascara, just the top lashes. Lately I use eyeshadow to line my top lash and I'm loving that look. Also, lots of KZbinrs seem to be obcessed with too much blush. Blush is supposed to brighten your face naturally. Too much will age you, no matter how much some of these girls say otherwise.

I was excited to see you using the Wet n Wild tinted hydrator. My hack is to mix in a drop of the NYX Bare With Me concealer with this product to get the fair shade light enough. This extra coverage makes such a lovely look, and I don't need to use concealer. I feel like everyone knows this by now, but just overdarkening yourself with makeup does age you. I mean too dark of a foundation, or too much bronzer - juat trying to mimick a tan with makeup(or self tanner) and overdoing it. Especially if it pulls orange. Also clumpy lashes, idk why, I always associate this with those old ladies with garish makeup so anyone with really clumpy lashes looks older to me

I'm certainly guilty of using too much powder. Not so much now though, but I tend to get very oily in the t-zone, so I need to powder that part of my face. Still, sometimes I find it's a bit hard to find the right balance. Also, I used to wear too heavy foundation. The last couple of years I mostly use the Purito BB cream, and it makes my skin looks so good and natural, never too made up. I also used to go to bed sometimes with makeup when my children were little. Now I am very strict when it comes to my skin care routine, so I always double cleanse, and put on actives and moisturizer before bed. It's easier when you get to have a little more "me-time". Thanks for all the great tips. ❤️

OMG, I'm guilty of a FULL cover matte and powder face! I'm 47 and recently I got rid of my heavy foundations and went shopping for 2 different medium/light coverage foundations meant for dry skin. I haven't worn concealer under my eyes for years, but have just started by using it ONLY to brighten the under eyes. Just with these few changes I already look 15 years younger! Oh I also lightly powder my T-zone with a mineral powder. I also don't use heavy eye shadow/liner under my eyes. I have extremely hooded eyes & have been using primers/dry concealers for years as a base for my shadows. I use only mascara and sometimes a highlighting liner. I also put my blush in an upwards angle and only bring a tint of colour forward. If I use a matte blush I put a topper over it. I still have very full lips & only use coordinating liners for special occasions. One thing that's REALLY helped is getting rid of ALL my liquid & matte lipsticks. I now only use crème, pearl, and balmy lipsticks. Oh and LOTS of lightweight glosses! As for sleeping with makeup... if it's been a looong day, I at least use a baby wipe to get most off. Then I immediately do a thorough cleanse in the morning & change my pillowcase. When I do have my nighttime routine I use 1 type of make up remover, then a 2nd type to pull even more off. Once I clean my face I use witchhazel and then a retinol cream. I make sure to apply the cream on my face, neck, chest and hands.

I'm like a year younger than you, on my 6th pregnancy with a 1 yr old who doesn't sleep, and I'm feeling my age 😩 I never really wore makeup but these circles under my eyes need help! I swear by liquid and cream products, for example the Pixi liquid blush in the little squeeze tube brings life and dewiness in the most beautiful, natural way. And I started using the L'Oreal balm foundation (tinted balm I think it's called?) and it's just SO NATURAL LOOKING! Definitely a your-skin-but-better product that brightens all day. And let's not forget skin care - it's the MOST important part of the process. Vitamin C and Vichy's mineral 89 are my life! I think trying to stay as natural as possible is so important to not age ourselves more than necessary. Thank you Z for your awesome videos 🤗

Wearing makeup to bed destroys your skin over time, it is sooo bad! We have all done it generally because of sheer exhaustion, but it is the worst. Forget all those serums they are useless if you sleep in your makeup regularly. I remember years ago someone saying, the skin you have up to your thirties is the skin you were born with, the skin you have after your thirties is the skin you deserve. Either sun, dehydration, etc, it all builds up over time. Take care of that face it is gorgeous ladies ❤️❤️❤️

I have things to say: amount of foundation depends upon how clear your skin is, when you have large areas of dispigmentation spot concealing won't work. I'll always go back to wearing black kajal under the eyes don't care how many times white people tell me it looks bad, black liner makes the eye prominent, brown people don't have colored eyes so we need other measures to draw attention to the eyes. I have very dark eye brows, they thin but without gaps, if i use a pencil even slightly lighter its looks so obvious that i have makeup on them. Makeup is so subjective and ageing is a privilege, about time we embrace age and change the tide

Black creates contrast and can help shape the eye. I think what makes it or breaks it is how harsh the lining is and whether you encircle the entire eye. I’m also not sure what the “big eye” obsession is all about. Some people of course have small eyes, but if you proportional eye size for your facial features you shouldn’t be scared of some black imo.

This was SUCH a fun video to watch! I'm guilty of having slept with makeup on because I'm tired and I don't even HAVE kids! LOL!! But I find that a quick swipe of a Neutrogena makeup remover wipe helps tremendously when I just can't do the actual washing of my face with a facial oil. But, I'm getting better! Thanks so much for this video! Truly helpful!!

I use to make these mistakes until i discovered Wayne Goss on youtube and then my whole makeup game changed! I never listen to any beauty guru's on youtube when it comes to applying makeup but i will watch their videos when it comes to hauls, makeup collections, etc.I try to go as natural as i can when it comes to applying makeup, afterall; we do not need to improve what God has already created. It's as of we are applying to GOD he did a bad job at creating us &that we have to correct his mistakes on our face which he makes no mistakes at all.A natural flawless look is what ialways try to go with on a daily routine.God Bless you for sharing your tips &keep sharing JESUS Zabrena because this world needs it.Your a gem my dear!❤❤❤

I often skip blush because in need foundation to cover redness and it seems silly to then add pink back in. I think blush is pretty but like I said….. I will choose bronzer though

I’m trying to figure out what the concealer is that you are using

Back in the '80's I always used to pack on face powder as a finishing step. I loved that flat, smooth look. I'd go through at least one container of face powder every year. Those days are long gone! ...Try leaving a package of makeup cleansing cloths on your nightstand. If they're right there it's easier to remember to reach for them before dozing off.

Hi Zabrena whilst I am still that rock chick biker at 50, my makeup has become a lot softer as I have aged. I was the queen of a smokey eye lol, but lighter/softer shades look a lot better on my now hooded eyes. I also stopped wearing too nude of a lip shade and something similar to my own lip colour (or just a bit darker/rosier) is much more flattering. I'm still the whitest shade of pale skin (with grey eyes and blonde hair), so blush is a must have - otherwise I look very goth (fine to do the goth thing as a teen, but oh dear not nowadays). The other thing is to pay attention to your undertone - I'm extremely cool toned and anything very warm toned can make me look a bit ill/sickly. It seems to make my skin look dull and just looks off on me. Whereas taupe and soft greys look very neutral on me, so called "neutrals" (which are really warmer beiges, tans, browns etc) don't look as good. Don't be frightened of colour, but perhaps a more subtle pop of colourful eyeliner can be more flattering than a very brightly coloured eyeshadow look for during the day on paler skin. Deeper shades of skin look amazing in bright colours day or night however. Just a few of my tips on transitioning into my older skin. Best wishes.

I agree! I recently had a color analysis done and it was life changing. I am also cool toned so pink blush and berry lips pop on my skin tone.

Don't forget moisturizer and SPF! I have to wear mascara, otherwise, I look like I'm sick. And yes, I've been guilty of sleeping without washing my face. Some days are just, well, you know.

I hate black eyeliner and powder. Looooove blush! I am good! I have found less makeup does look more youthful as I get older. I also don’t put anything on the lower lash line. I find it looks more youthful.

not wearing the right color of foundation with the right undertone. You will just look like you are very tired and old. Understanding your undertone will be a game changer! This would be a good subject to discuss!

Sleeping with makeup on…I’m super guilty of this. I am trying to break the habit and now at 45, I notice my skin is super dry if I do so I am working on breaking this!!

Try getting a really delicious feeling nighttime routine - a rich cleansing balm, a second wash, a nourishing essence and maybe a vitamin c or really moisturizing serum (vichy's mineral 89 hyaluronic serum feels SO GOOD) and then see what your skin looks like when you wake up - the glowing skin will make you hooked on pampering your skin before bed, and you'll never skip it!

When people wear makeup styles from previous decades... really aging. Also, as you mentioned, too much is not enhancing. Lovely to see you again this week!

Not cleaning your brushes regularly and your sponges or not replacing them sooner! Bacteria just aides in more breakouts, eye infections. Also, throwing out older expired makeup! Just asking for skin issues. Happy Holiday Z! I ❤️ your shows. Wish you could do more? But, family comes first!

Eye liner that ends or even dips down at the end of the upper lid makes eyes look smaller and droopy. Always add a wing, even a tiny flick up. If over 40-ish, avoid black liner as it looks harsh. Use brown/black, charcoal, or brown. Same with mascara.

Powder does help to keep makeup on though. I have to have it on.

I love these tips girl preach I am guilty of falling asleep with makeup on 😂 I have darker hair lately I’ve been staying away from darker brows idk but Burt an Earnie come to mind lol 😂 I use concealer on my eyes 👀 instead of primer I find to like that better I love my blush but I feel like there are days I don’t need contour or bronzer on my cheeks thanks girl love ya bunches ❤

My tip is not putting eyeshadow or mascara on my lower eye lid. You've mentioned it, too, on the channel, it does open the eye up and definitely takes a few years off. The only exception would be a night out look.
@Alex-tk7gh2 жыл бұрын
I stopped doing this a good while back and I too feel that it makes me look more youthful. I used to apply mascara on the lower lid throughout my 20s and it just doesn't look good anymore.

Now that I'm in my 50s, if I'm wearing foundation, applying primer is doing something great for my skin. I barely use makeup, but when I do I have noticed that a light foundation is the best for my skin. Face primer evens the texture and the foundation stays longer and looks more natural.

I look very young for age. It's good genes and I take care of my skin. Ppl think I'm lying when I say my age. I have changed how I do my makeup. I like light weight foundations that will still cover my freckles on my cheeks. I know ppl like freckles but I never have. That's why I always loved makeup. I could cover those freckles up. I like to use the it cosmetic concealer just in the inner part of my eye close to bottom lash line too. I find it gives me a youthful look.
