Flygon’s undying hatred of the fennekin line is so hilarious. I wouldn’t call a single one of the three a bad design (especially compared to some other Pokémon) but Flygon is absolutely disgusted by them.

braixen is honestly one of my fav middle stage starters. i think it's such a good fox/mage design, still animal enough that it's recognizably a fox, but still magic-looking enough to look like it knows spells. plus when it puts the stick in its tail, it looks like a broom. perfect

I'm perfectly fine with Fennekin, in fact I think it's the best 1st stage in Kalos. Braixen however, I don't get why people rate this thing higher than Delphox. Sure, it's furry and all, but Braixen literally has a branch sticking in its butt. And once in a while it takes that branch out and blast fartfire from it.

To the question in chat at 1:50, my take on it is this: Polyjuice Potion is incredibly hard to make and they don't teach it at Hogwarts. In the 6th book, Slughorn even asks who knows it despite it being an advanced class - just knows it, not know how to make it. Making it takes at least a month and needs to happen under circumstances (something with the moon?). If I remember correctly, the book that had the recipe was in the restricted section (why they have a restricted section is bloody beyond me tbh). I would even go as far to say that most adult wizards have never (successfully) made Polyjuice Potion and it's a horrible thing to go wrong. My personal belief is that it is restricted to the point of almost illegality, to avoid identity theft, fraud, and something with bodily autonomy and not consenting - which would be why Aurors can use it, but we don't know about others. But that's just my own headcanon. But to casually brew it while it is niche bordering on restricted magic with a recipe you can't normally get at Hogwarts, with apparently semi-rare ingredients (because Snape knew immediately that missing those ingredients means Polyjuice Potion), is I think much less likely than, you know, transfigurating accidents because a student got over-confident. BUT, that is just my take. If you read all the way through; hi. I like FlygonHGs videos a lot. I was also an extreme fan of the HP franchise and have practically memorized the books so I couldn't let this opportunity go to waste lol.

Hey Flygon, have you considered doing a STABmon run? Pokémon can only use moves of their type. (Run starts upon first STAB learned) This especially limits the status moves you can use late game, with things like swords dance, toxic, and thunder wave being off the table for most pokemon, and any coverage moves being completely unavailable, so you better catch an ice type instead of a water. E4 with only 4 types. Throw in no overleveling or whatever rules of choice would make it more interesting if you think it'd be too easy. Seeing chat freak out over the F tier braixen was great.

Chimchar is “monkey but with fire” but monferno is “monkey with fire, a teenager wardrobe inspired design, and some attitude, that also punches things” so I do love me some monferno

Grovyle definitely great, also love Bayleef. Ivysaur is super boring to me though. Wartortle is cursed by Blastoise going off on a complete tangent. Wartortle needs to lose the teeth I think. Yeah everyone else is pretty meh though. Definitely a lot of awkwardness and losing the stronger identities of the forms on either side of them in the evo chain.

I love Wartortle so much. The fur is adorable and sort of reminds me of some turtles which grow wiskers. While yeah, overall it's weird looking with the context of Blastoise, I really love the design and kinda wish they incorporated more elements of it into Blastoise

Ivysaur is a top 3 starter middle stage in the entire series imo, I think it perfectly encapsulates that cool teen/young adult vibe that's still kinda young but not cute like Bulbasaur, and kinda mature but clearly not yet fully grown like Venusaur. It's exactly what a middle stage should be imo.

Prinplup is a rockhopper penguin with tuxedo ( which blend with its design pretty well, unlike other pokemon with clothes). All pokemon are great, it's all about your view.

ivysaur is one of my favorite pokemon overall. I like venusaur a lot but it also looks. . kind of sleepy. Ivysaur looks like it can run and jump *and* still fit in your house while being a bigger, tougher looking mon than bulbasaur. one of its early sprites even has it rearing up on its hind legs. ivysaur is S tier for me :)

other lil notes, I also like frogadier more than greninja. its a real charming lil design I think. look at this cool, confident froggy I didnt like drizzile either until I started my lizards only run in sword and saw its animations. it actually summons a lil water balloon ! attention to detail like that is neat :) scorbunny is my favorite base form of that starter set but drizzile cemented the sobble line as being my favorite overall. I'd still only rank drizzile itself around b tier though torracat is one of my favorite middle forms from the more recent gens. wartortle and bayleef are about even with their evolved forms for me, in that theyre both great ! I like servine, croconaw, and monferno more than their evolved forms. especially croconaw, feraligatr just looks too weird for me. sceptile. is so disappointing compared to grovyle lol.

Hey Mr HG! I’ve been watching your videos for a long time and I had an idea for a challenge I’d love to see! _TLDR_ : It involves Johto, a wide variety of Pokémon, mass death, and limiting your ability to cheese strat your way out of every problem. All your standard Nuzlocke rules apply. One encounter per route. No over leveling. Every time you enter a major battle (gym/elite4) once the battle is finished your team must be sacrificed to the GODS ☠️ This means you must always have a spare Pokémon in the box. You are pushed to come up with unique strategies with brand new teams. You get to use Gyarodos and poison-stall stats, but only once! and you get to chose when you need it most. I thought this challenge would be best served in Johto as it is a region known for having a flat level curve come the mid game, and with you having to start from scratch each time, this weakness would actually become rather fun! It also makes it a gamble. Do you take 5 Pokémon in to flatten Whitney’s gym leaving you only 2 Pokémon to challenge Morty? This is where the challenge becomes your own. This challenge was just a fun thought experiment to try and make Johto a more challenging experience. I call it HeartBreak Gold/SoulCrush Silver! But call it whatever you want. Bonus rule for more difficulty: EXP can only be earned by available trainers. No Wild Pokémon grinding!! Have fun and looking forward to seeing whatever you make next! 😄

I mean isn't Servine transitioning to Snek and therefore meant to look like he's about to fall forward as his limbs lose strength? Also Flying Plat nuzlocke: Almost lost to Candice only to wipe to Cyrus and restarted twice before getting an insanely lucky run where I didn't lose anything until Candice and beat the E4 & Champion only losing Altaria and Staraptor to Garchomp and Milotic respectively (Gar Crit killed Altaria after it somehow survived +3 Dragon Claw. Brave Bird on Milotic was an intentional sack to do as much damage as I could before going down). Togekiss, Crobat, Pelipper and Gliscor surviving E4 team.
