Some other reviews didn't show half of what you did. Your reviews for complex processing are the best because you research it deeply before filming. Thanks David!

I love how you talked about the recording conditions of the dialogue session. All of that is a good day sometimes when I'm doing post work. Seeing a quick tool like this is truly amazing.

I bought this plugin almost instantly and it really is an amazing tool - I'm actually working with a singer who is currently traveling and has no access to a studio and we were able to make a VERY good demo by recording her vocals using an iPhone and processing it with prime:vocal. Obviously it's not like that song is studio quality - but its absolutely incredible what we got done with it.

Glad to see a review on prime:vocals that doesn't fail it right out of the gate for not being a plugin, and actually covering what it does. You didn't mention how it performed in ARA, I guess because it's still in beta? I have all their smart and true stuff, and will probably go ahead add this too.

Bought it but found that it creates artifacts that make me think twice if I ll use it or not..
@marcus68722 күн бұрын
Not saying your experience isn’t accurate and I haven’t tried it, but it doesn’t make sense to me that a plugin with the sole purpose to clean up vocals would create artifacts. Is it just not playing nice with your system/settings?
@JohnWuMastermind2 күн бұрын
@marcus6872 No I record with an Apollo a U 87 and an avalon 737 hardware in a small booth. U can hear my pc and a bit of the room reverb which I wanted to remove but the vocals became unatural with some artifacts. Expected a better result

@marcus6872 Except everyone else who has done in depth reviews has said the same thing. Only people who took money for a review seem to ignore the issues

Hey David, I hope you're having a great day! How would you approach 1/4 pitch modulation on a synth bass to add groove without making the fundamental frequency sound boomy or 'cloudy'?

My whole life is just one big non ideal recording situation 🤣 This would be amazing for band practice, and removing hood noise from shooting video in the kitchen 🍻🤘

I love the concept, and I'm an absolute Sonible fanboy, but I didnt buy this becuase it just doesnt compete with the tools i already have. I already have ARA compatible gain staging with Dynassist and Melodyne, which both also provide sibilance reduction. Between RX, Clarity, and Supertone Clear, and even Tonebooster EQ Pro, this just doesnt compete in regards to quality of room and noise removal...all the processing modules are also very limited in controllability, and I'd rather use the Smart plugs, even at clip and offline render level. ..but once they enchance the room and noise removal, I'm buying it.

I hope that in the future Logic will support ARA natively, it is Apple's responsibility and I understand Sonible's choice because Apple has done nothing to improve this for several years. However, it slows down the workflow to have to open it as an external application or under Rosetta which has poor CPU performance. I will buy it nevertheless, hoping that it evolves.

I have a bunch of sonible products. I was wondering how this is any different than RX that a lot of us already have?
@mixbustv2 күн бұрын
I absolutely love RX but, one main difference for me that's worth the product is the room verb removal, RX version is not its best feature, and even the dialogue isolate (which IS great) is not as good as this. I feel this is specifically for vocals while RX is for everything and also for major unwanted noises in the background but not as refined in cleaning a vocal recording (quickly) as this one

I just wish I could record in the standalone version, would save me a lot of time

On the topic of vocals whats a good "budget" priced pair of headphones for vocal tracking ?
@FransJCMartins2 күн бұрын
For vocals, acoustic instruments etc., I prefer using in ears. Less chance of getting headphone spillage into the microphone… I use Shure 535’s and artists in my studio use whatever they have and are comfortable with.
@mixbustv2 күн бұрын
Any close back Beyer or AT or Senn depending on your budget
@pvalenti2 күн бұрын
I agree with David. I wound up buying a pair of Beyer DT770 240ohm headphones. Best purchase I made with regard to hearing my DAW, and yes, that includes purchasing my Kali LP6's! However, they are going to be quieter than any cheaper normal range headphones because of the 240 ohm rating. Depending on your interface or headphone amp, you may have to push them until clipping to get to your target volume. For that reason I do NOT recommend them for clients. Only for the engineer. For clients I don't spend a lot on headphones. Anything close to $100/pair is fine I would say.

i tried prime vocal and decided that i will skip it for now until further improvement when comes to CPU performance, i mean i love Sonible products and when i tried this one unlike all the reviews out there i find it useful but it's unusable because it nearly broke my CPU (i7 13700K 24Cores total with P-cores at 5,4Ghz) and all cores at 100% usage loading only 4 mono vocals with 3 min length, idk if it's me or it is not yet windows optimized but the CPU usage is insane even with just one vocal.

Im on AMD 5950x and its sort of the same experience, loaded up 5 tracks and it was taking some time to get the analysis done while avg 90%cpu usage. To do an avg session of like 20 vocal tracks i can imagine waiting a while. But It is a standalone app so I can do other things and the results are good, so idk. Wish it had GPU rendering tho, huge time saver
