And this isnt a new problem in Canada. In Ethans instagram stories, he even said that his quote about starving gaza was directed at Hamas, which is a lie. The full statement, he says Gaza. The same Ethan who made fun of Aaron Bushnell. But Ethan now says you cant make fun of people with mental health issues, now that people say he is spiralling. This is the same guy who played Twitch or Terrorist on stream, featuring Hasan next to Bin Ladin. The same guy who ran a campaign to get any pro-palestinian voice banned of the platform because he felt hurt he couldnt say habibi (he had given himself that pass previously lol). Oh, he also recently denied doing blackface lol, then that video of him doing blackface multiple times popped up. But he loves to play a victim. Dont get how his community still defends him like how he is defending Yuov Gallant. The same Ethan, who now said he is more understanding of Israel than most pro-palestinian voices. It's interesting how he claims to represents all jews. ''Just talk to your jewish friend'' to Hasan. There are plenty of people who have other perspectives. Ethans insistance on claiming jewish people are a monolith represented by him is hybris and unproductive. When Hasan said he should just call Sam Seeder, he was called antisemitic by Ethan. A really important point regarding H3 is that Ethan doesn’t deal with disagreement very well. He has a habit of falling out with people and then getting quite toxic and personal. I definitely think you should share spaces with people you disagree with but I don’t think he’s a good faith actor, ESPECIALLY on I/P. Take care of your peace and brand ❤
@stephanie71423 күн бұрын
Personally, I disagree. As a viewer of both, they share a lot of the same opinions politically & socially. If they don’t want to share a space with someone who agrees with majority of what they also believe and fight for because he’s polarizing, how could they ever have a productive conversation with someone that has a completely different audience?
@Alice-cp9sy3 күн бұрын
@stephanie7142 because productive conversations can only happen in good faith and I sadly think Ethan is too emotional on I/P to be good faith. Ethan has not shown himself to be able to be ok with people disagreeing with him. Plus, a lot of toxicity in the fandom right now and I don’t think the Try Guys deserve to be caught up in that, especially Zach. I would support a private conversation between Zach and Ethan though as I don’t think anyone should be shunned. But a collaboration right now is a bad idea. Ethan also is nowhere near as influential as Joe Rogan (no offence) so the pay off is not as large.

It's interesting hearing your perspectives on appearing on platforms/channels with wildly opposing views and standpoints to your own. I guess, from a comms standpoint, in comes down to whether you want to speak within your echo chamber of like-minded people, or if you want to use your voice and the strength of your platform to speak outside of that. You've got a strong following, and you've built a really solid brand trust and recognition of the Second Try platform that I genuinely think that appearing on channels that have those differing viewpoints honestly elevates this "speaking truth to power" strategy you're taking moving forward. It stands to build faith and trust in your brand further by speaking to and against those people on behalf of the people who don't have the platform, it's using your platform to challenge dangerous positions and ideologies.

@@bobbobelito1632 I really think you need to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. Even in your own comment "They called out pro-palestine avocates as anti-semites", just because someone supports a cause that is right doesn't mean they should be shielded from criticism. If Ethan feels as a jewish man there is festering antisemitism within the movement he definitely has the right to talk about it (personally its not my fav content but whatevs). A really good example of where this can lead is in 1942 after the Japanese had attacked America, Americans began getting so vitriolic towards the Japanese that they had begun creating internment camps for innocent Americans who's family was from japan. Even though I'm sure you would believe that Japan siding with the Nazi's was awful at this time, would you would still have some criticisms for America holding these camps? If Ethan feels that the sentiment of prominent voices in the space are threatening and dog whistling hatred then there's no reason why he cant speak on it. (Also AB streams on twitch advocating for Palestinian's quite often so kinda weird hes trying to de platform all voices in the space if his own employees is streaming in the space as well) As for Yuov he has since apologized and said he wasn't as informed on his as he thought, im not sure what more a single person could ask for than him saying you know what i made a mistake fuck that guy.

As a long time viewer, I found the platforming conversation about Ethan Klein really disappointing. It is no longer 2015. The platforming debate is entirely nonsensical in 2024 since liberals are now the minority in the country and even in the media space. If we continue to not engage with any controversial people or ideas, we are just ceding ground to let the right wing podcasters swoop up that audience. Which is exactly what happened in the last ten years.

I have been watching him for years and though he can say outlandish things, he always wants the best for everyone. And I think an important point to make is that though his workers (Olivia, Dan, etc.) are there to do their job, you can clearly see that ethan is always checking with them after he says something to make sure he didn’t come off wrong. He’s always willing to learn, be flexible, and change. I think ethan gets such a bad rep on other platforms because people clip and isolate moments to make it look like something else. He’s always confronting challenging topics, and in doing that he’s always going to get people that don’t like everything he has to say. But his presence on KZbin is refreshing, because he truly doesn’t care about anything but his family and the truth. H3 fan for life, call me when you ACTUALLY WATCH HIS PODCAST

Agreed with both of you! By not talking to him they’re giving into the imagine of him that’s been created, and to me that’s so much more dangerous than platforming “the other side.” Ethan is very liberal, and if we cease having these conversations within our own party we’re only heading for disaster. And people who’d get upset about platforming the other side live in a very black and white world that won’t progress. We need to talk more. 1. Ethan is in support of having Yoav Gallant be tried for War crimes. They were talking about Yoav being a moderating Voice compared to Netanyahu because Yoav wants to end their war on Gaza and Netanyahu doesn't, and that it was bad that Netanyahu fired him because of their disagreement on this issue. Even still, Ethan apologized for how they talked about him and at the time not knowing enough about him to condemn him at that time. He made a video about it on the Ethan Klein channel, you should watch it. 2. Ethan isn't in support of self-immolation and thinks the world is worth more with you in it. He wasn't a fan of Aaron lighing himself on fire as it ended up taking his own life and that's not something a mentally sound person does. He thinks that it is dangerous to glorify these type of actions as it can result in someone copying Aaron, which is something that tends to happen when someone taking their own life gets a lot of attention. The same thing happened with Kurt Cobain and 13 reasons why. He made bad jokes to illustrate his stance on the matter. 3. Ethan is on the offense when it concerns Hasan and his orbiters since Ethan beliefs their are spreading dangerous rhetoric. He disliked the way Hasan was favourably talking about H*mas since they are a terror organization that have killed a lot of people in Syria and also done a lot of other terrible things. Please be aware that Hasan is very biased when it concerns this organization and Hezbollah I would implore you to look up their crimes. Of course they are the counter offense to what is currently happening in Gaza but they are not random freedom fighters. Hezbollah has talked about wanting all the jews in the world to be in Israel since it would save them the effort for having to hunt them all down to end their lives. They make the deliberate distinction that they want to end all jews and with that they do mean all jews and not just z*onists. There is a direct quote of this 4. I don't remember Ethan ever making fun of college students or I don't know what you are referring to. 5. Ethan didn't compare Jewish Voice for Peace to Kapos he was making the argument that finding someone of a certain group to support something isn't a good argument to support something as well. Hasan filled it in as being the same as comparing JVFP to Kapos but Ethan literally said "I'm not saying that". I implore you to watch what is being said there again, in its entirety. Also, that stream Ethan is talking a lot from the general perspective of the Israeli citizens and how they view certain issues. He's not always arguing for things he himself agrees with but his mission that stream was to communicate how he thinks a 2 state solution is the most realistic and secure option atm. 6. Ethan has never denied the Nakba. You are not able to send me a link of Ethan saying that the Nakba didn't happen. I know what episode you're talking about cause he was talking about the precursor to the Nakba on the Moldy Lunchly episode. Ethan was just talking about what happened before the Nakba took place. Two things can be true at the same time. Jewish people got kicked out of their countries and they in return kicked Palestinians out of theirs. If you would ask Ethan is he was okay with he Nakba taking place he would tell you he wouldn't. Also, please talk to an actual historian if you can, they will tell you the same thing about Jewish people not being welcome in the middle east and how that helped to create the Nakba. Only because someone can understand that there are reasons for something happening doesn't mean that they automatically condone what is happening. You are filling in the space around what Ethan said to mean what you want him to say cause you dislike him. You are not honestly engaging with what he's actually saying. Also, please talk to a historian in real life if you are able. Things are nuanced even if they are also bad. Do not let emotions cloud the way you interpret someone.

NITPICKING how people protest and how victims of APARTHEID and GENOCIDE RESIST the perpetrators. Hasan is absolutely correct in not agreeing with them in their domestic actions or fundamentalism but seeing them as resistance groups. He has hours and hours of content on the history of these groups and Ethan ignored it all. Ethan in his videos when talking about Hezbollah refused to talk the reason they exist which was Israel's INVASION of Lebanon. South Africa, Algeria, Rhodesia and so on all resisted in similar ways. They were also considered terrorists for being against those injustices. You are the one needing to read about history. I recommend the ISRAELI historian Illan Pape. 4.
