It's a PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR DOUBLE HEADER as we bring you coverage of the Championship Rounds in both the U15 BOYS and U20 BOYS at the Georgia State Pepsi Tournament in Columbus, Georgia.
A lot of "firsts" this week on PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR:
- It's the first time we've ever traveled PRODIGY outside the Atlanta metro area.
- It's the first time we've ever brought you a DOUBLE HEADER of coverage -- of not one, but TWO championship round stepladders!
- And it's the first time we've ever released an episode of PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR that blows past the 3 hour mark. In fact, today's show is almost 3 and a half hours long!
Usually, PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR "bowlcasts" are, as we like to say, "unofficial, informal and impromptu" competition. But today, there's nothing unofficial, informal or impromptu about the competition you'll be seeing. In fact, it's very much official (USBC sanctioned), formal gotta wear slacks and actual bowling shirts) and planned out (they have these events planned out months in advance). The Georgia State Youth Pepsi Tournament is one of the largest youth bowling tournaments in the state. And they're bowling for real, honest-to-goodness scholarship money. But as much as anything, they're bowling for the prestige that comes with winning the PEPSI.
Today's show begins with the U15 BOYS stepladder. And after we crown a champion for 2018, we'll segue right into the U20 BOYS stepladder. Now, for those who are wondering, the reason we are covering these two divisions (and not any of the girls' stepladders), it's because these two divisions had the most PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR regulars in the field. If more girls or young kids would come bowl PRODIGY with us, we would consider covering their division. But as it is, out of the ten players we feature on today's show, eight of them have bowled on previous PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR episodes and are familiar to our audience.
The Georgia State Pepsi Tournament held qualifying at the league level at bowling centers throughout the state in October and January. Those who qualified to bowl in the tournament met on April 14 and 15 for Round One where the U8 and U10 kids bowled 3 games and the U12, U15 and U20 kids bowled 6 games. The top 10% in all ten divisions (U8B, U8G, U10B, U10G, U12B, U12G, U15B, U15G, U20B, U20G) were invited back to bowl Round 2 on April 21st. There, their scores reverted to 0 and they each bowled 3 more games. Their total pinfall for those three games determined their pecking order. The top 5 bowlers in each division advanced to the Championship Round to bowl the stepladder finals. On today's show, you'll see the U15 and U20 BOYS contest their stepladders.
So sit back and enjoy the competition. And since it is, after all, the PEPSI TOURNAMENT, we take the opportunity to celebrate the PEPSI GENERATION, and more specifically, THE PRODIGY GENERATION of kids you see bowling on the show today.

Well Randy I made it to Detroit. I went for unofficial practice today at Novi Bowl in Novi, Michigan. (Look I really enjoy bowling!!) 40 Lanes and all wooden with modified Brunswick A’s. I shot 267 (front 8 then a swisher 7 and an 8 count then a strike, I believe.) I then shot 218. I was using my newly drilled Hy-Road right up board 5. Hopefully I can continue this in competition!! (Also I made all my spares... 👍🏻) Plus GOOD LUCK to everyone competing in JG this year, including myself!!

One of my closest bowling centers, AMF Major League Lanes in Winston-Salem, North Carolina has the exact synthetic lanes, approaches, ball returns, and masking units. However, they have 20 lanes on one side and 20 on the other, but it’s still 40 lanes. They also have a big bar in the middle of the bowling center. I think Charles Bostic has been there..

Pyry Majuri - Read the show notes. They state that this was re-edited. I won't go into details, but it was previously taken down and I re-edited it slightly. None of the action was changed.

@@ProdigyBowlersTour hey randy, I've taken a while off bowling, including watching it. I just realized Logan F. Hasn't posted in 6 months and he disabled comments on all of his videos. I dont recall him ever getting hate comments. Most people were very supportive. I loved his channel and his bowling style. Is he doing okay.

@@thelegendarye2430 -- I can't speak for Logan. What I do know is that comments on his channel were disabled right around the same time they were disabled here on my channel. I didn't disable them, KZbin did. It was a change in KZbin policy. By default, they disabled comments on channels with youth-oriented content as a precaution to keep inapprpriate and/or offensive comments from being posted. I turned commenting back on globally on my channel because I monitor comments very closely (I review every single one). But I'm not sure if Logan ever even noticed that comments had been turned off on his channel. He also stopped bowling exclusively with Motiv equipment (and started bowling with a variety of different brands) right about the same time KZbin made this change. Since his channel was largely set up to review new Motiv bowling balls that he acquired, I'm guessing he just hasn't been paying a lot of attention to it, and therefore might never have even noticed that commenting had been disabled. But again, all this is pure speculation on my part. An educated guess, you might say. But I don't mean to infer that I'm telling you that I know what the reasons are. Just a guess. I do know that he did NOT go to Junior Gold this year. But that shouldn't be cause for concern. I've known kids to take a year off Junior Gold and it wasn't indicative of anything more than just the fact that they didn't go this time. Last time I saw him bowling (a few weeks ago), his game looked to be in good shape, and he even seemed in pretty good spirits. I hope he comes back to bowl with us this Fall, but I've heard rumblings that he might be looking at going somewhere else. Again, I really don't know. He hasn't said a word to me about his intentions. Whatever he does, I wish him the best.

@@ProdigyBowlersTour I do too. Thanks for the response. Even though I've taken a while off I've never been happier with my game. I'm still competitive but a bad game isn't going to ruin my day anymore. Since my return my average has almost went up 12 pins.

No. We're off right now. We have a special "For Littles Only" event next weekend (July 20th). Then that'll be it for the Summer. BUT...I will be doing some behind-the-scenes work over the Summer getting ready for Season 4.
