PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR
Episode 127
"Farewell Atlanta"
Recorded October 24, 2021

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the final Atlanta episode of PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR before Coach Randy moved from the Atlanta area to his hometown of Kansas City. In this edition of the show, we award the Orphaned, Red, Coveted Trophy Pin used in the 2019-2020 season to the winner. Plus, each kid bowling on the show draws the name of a home viewer, and when a winner is crowned, his or her home viewer will win the COVID-Ed. Trophy Pin used during the short-lived "Pandemic Bowlers Tour Stay-At-Home-House-Shot-Series." And finally, the "Little" in the field who finishes highest in the standings receives a special "Biggest Little" Award for besting all the other Littles in the field.
PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR is "Unofficial, Informal and Impromptu" After League competition designed to simulate the pressure of big-time tournament competition. And while the ultimate prize is little more than symbolic in nature, the pressure is very real. These kids are very aware that every shot they throw will be seen by an audience of tens of thousands of bowling enthusiasts. So they will bowl their hearts out, win or lose.
As the Volunteer Youth Director at Bowlero Roswell, it's my desire for PRODIGY to inspire bowlers, young and old alike, to pursue their passion for this amazing sport. In the process, if we're able to convey how committed we are to providing kids a great experience with bowling in our youth program at Bowlero Roswell, so much the better. But the main thing I want to instill in these kids is a love for the game and adherence to the principles of good sportsmanship.

I hope you enjoy this final episode of PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR from Atlanta. Sometime after the first of the year in 2022, Coach Randy will begin the search for a new home for PRODIGY in the Greater Kansas City area in hopes for a re-launch of "PRODIGY 2.0" in the coming months. Stay tuned for details.

Hi Coach, Congratulations on the big move to Kansas City! I've had an excellent time watching these kids grow and mature in their bowling endeavors, both physical and mental. It brings me a lot of joy to see everything they've learned and apply to their game from when they first entered all the way to their current state, be it still on Prodigy, college, whatever the case may be. Personally, I've learned from watching these kids myself having always bowled off on the wrong foot until the COVID-19 pandemic befell the world when it was time for me to swallow my pride and get coaching assistance with my game (been wanting to transition to a proper four-step approach as well as fix up some of the other bugs with my game, like bending too far low). So far, things have been going well in that department after taking the previous season off for rebuilding purposes and joining this current league season to apply it to my own game. Aside from how I'm doing, congratulations to all Prodigy bowlers and to many more in the future!

I discovered your channel in the past year and it's been a pleasure to see all the promising youth bowlers you helped coach. Your videos, production quality, narration voice, friendly competitions, and encouragement of the kids has been top-notch! It's been fun to watch Logan, Charlie, "McFluffy", Hunter, etc. grow into their own in the sport and become amazing bowlers. It's helped to motivate me to get back into league bowling for the first time in 10 years, following my difficult divorce during the covid lockdowns. So far I'm carrying my second-highest average of 206 after all these years. Keep up the great work in KC and I'm sure the kids and families you have impacted will greatly miss you. Blessings! -Jon in Alabama.

As a not so young (61) Prodigy fan from over the sea in the United Kingdom, I would like to thank all the young men and ladies that have entertained us over the years on the Prodigy shows it has been great viewing and I would like to wish you all well as you grow up in the future and I hope to see some of you progress to the PBA/PWBA regional and national tours. To Randy you have given so much over the years to these junior bowlers and to us the fans of this great show that you created, to myself the coaching comments you made each show have been invaluable listening to you I have improved my game hugely leading to my high game of 297 just a few weeks ago and deeper love of the game, for that I would like to thank you. All the best for your move I hope you settle in happily and in time find a new home for Prodigy and a new set of young bowlers can learn from your excellent coaching and can enjoy some wonderful Prodigy success in the same way as the Atlanta youngsters did and can create the same sort of following here on you tube. Once again a huge thank you Randy and whatever life has to offer you in Kansas you will always be a person to look up to and will be remembered with great fondness.

I've got to say Coach Randy I have been watching you since I was in highschool and now a junior in college it's absolutely crazy to see these boys improvement and how much they've grown. Seeing hunter go from the little 2 handed bowler who would be with the big boys now being the top seed and bowling like that is unreal. Great seeing bowlers who've been there forever such as nolan and christian. Wish you the best in Kansas City, can't root for the chiefs though I'm a ravens fan lol

This maybe my first time commenting,I’ve been watching these kids bowl I think since 2017 I believe. I love bowling, so I like to watch the Pro’s,Amateurs and youth. I love what you have done with this program coach Randy.I watched the show elevate every year until the pandemic. Good luck to you coach Randy and can’t wait to see the new show in KC. 💡I have an idea for you coach if you haven’t thought of it already. Once a year have the new kids in KC bowl the kids in Roswell. That would be great to see. Good luck 🍀

I would love nothing more than to get some of the Atlanta kids to come up here some day. But first things first. I've gotta find a place to put the show up here. I can't really start looking for a place until Oreo and I are moved into our permanent residence. We're staying at an AirBnB from now until mid-January. I can't really leave her here in the AirBnB when I go places, so she's always with me. And I've yet to find a bowling alley that doesn't frown on bringing your dog inside. So I'll have to start scouting out new possible landing spots for PRODIGY once Oreo feels comfortable in our new permanent home, and she won't bark her brains out every time I leave.

Well Randy, I guess the old saying is true - all good things come to an end. Many thanks for the thousands of hours you have put into PBT, celebrating and elevating junior bowling. Best of luck in KC, and I know there are many of us who are hoping you will indeed be able to launch PBT 2.0 in KC. Wishing you a happy holiday season, and a happy, healthy new year.
@ProdigyBowlersTour

Well, I hope it's not come to an end, but rather is just shopping for a new place to call home. I know once some folks here in KC become familiar with what the show is and the tremendous opportunity it gives to kids, someone is bound to want the show at their bowling center. Whether on a permanent basis or on a rotating basis (I'm open to both), I'd like to believe we'll work something out. But I must say right now, with the latest variant of the virus setting new records for hospitalizations and the future uncertain for where we go from here with this pandemic, there are bigger issues to resolve than merely finding a home center for my little KZbin show.

Nolan knows I think the world of him. There was a time a few years ago some weren't so sure about him. But I believed in him and just felt (like I do with most kids) that if you set expectations for them, most kids will try to meet those expectations, or exceed them. I think it's true for most adults, too. People want to prove to others that they're up to whatever challenge you put before them. Nolan was just misunderstood by a lot of people. I let him know in no uncertain terms that I was on his side and wanted to see him succeed, and he responded like the quality person I knew he would be if given a chance. He did not disappoint. I now believe he has a very bright future ahead.

2:13 I'm just glad Coach Randy didn't mention the Patriots, since pretty much everyone is told to dislike that team no matter where in the US they are from and being from Massachusetts, the Patriots have been my team before they became a dynasty. This show was great. Nice to see everyone get back together again. Good luck in Kansas Coach Randy. I might consider doing something similar to Prodigy with the kids I will start coaching next year. There's a ton of work involved in making the videos. I spent about 35-40 hours per week on editing the shows. This episode, being longer, took closer to 60 hours to put together. But certainly staging the after-league challenge matches are fun for the kids even if there's no video involved. That's how we got started. Just know, if you do try to do the videos, come up with your own name for it. PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR is already taken. :-)

I wish I had came out to bowl more for prodigy while you were here. But I didn’t drive at the time and it was hard for my parents to find time to go out there. then the rule passed where you aged out at 18 instead of 20. Rye two times I did come out, I bowled horrible and I’m a much better and experienced bowler, and would have a better shot. But I had fun with everyone there and it was cool to be a part of either way. Can’t wait for prodigy 2.0

@ProdigyBowlersTour
@ProdigyBowlersTour 2 жыл бұрын
@AndrewGuzman -- Now that I'm situated in Overland Park, I've been learning all about the youth bowling scene up here in the Greater KC area. And I'm learning some truly surprising things about high school bowling. You know, we didn't have high school bowling in Georgia. But I'm learning that here in the KC area, which spans across two states (KS and MO), high school bowling on the Kansas side is treated as a "Varsity sport," while it's merely a club activity at schools that have bowling on the Missouri side. This means (for those of you outside the area) that if a kid bowls on his high school team, he is not allowed to bowl league or in a tournament or even have a coach (other than the ones supplied by his school) during the high school bowling season. I find this utterly ridiculous, and borderline unconstitutional. (I'm not a lawyer, but this sure seems wrong to me.) I guess you can go open bowling, and if your dad is your coach, I don't see how the state board could possibly prevent you from getting coached up by your own dad. But you couldn't retain a coach to coach you. It raises an interesting question though: Since PRODIGY is not a sanctioned activity -- it's basically open play, but in a somewhat more structured environment -- could a high school bowler take part in a PRODIGY event while the high school bowling season is ongoing? I suspect not. Or if you could, it likely would cause problems and might even raise issues between me and the state board. (Oh, I might actually enjoy having that fight.) But since my objective is not to put any kids in any kind of jeopardy, I'd probably opt to avoid that conflict altogether. But it certain makes for some interesting challenges here that I had never even imagined back in Georgia. I do hope to have some news about a new future for PRODIGY in the coming weeks and months. I think there might be a path forward here. I just can't speak about it unless and until something is firmed up. I have looked at the youth program at Mission Bowl, though. And it looks like you have a good one there. There's another good one in Olathe that I'm looking at as well. But again, I'm not even close to having anything nailed down yet. I was hoping we could get him and Tristin and Big Logan and a few others who have aged out of youth bowling. But many of them are off at college, and I know that the Emmanuel College group was at a college tournament that weekend and couldn't make it. I believe that's why Nick wasn't there. I was pleased we got as many as we did.

There have been a few two-handers in the Georgia youth bowling community who put their thumb in the ball. Perhaps most notably, Tyrell Ingalls, one of the best youth bowlers I've ever seen in my life.

Well, he did bowl in the same league with him for a couple of years and competed with him on PRODIGY for a couple of years. You give an impressionable kid that kind of positive influence, and some of it is bound to rub off. Honestly, that's kind of part of the reason I created PRODIGY -- to give these kids more competition to help them elevate their games. And I think it did have a positive effect.

I’m Jesse, lol I was just about to make a comment about that. So here’s what happened, I hadn’t bowled in over* a year, this was my first time bowling since I aged out and all the qualifying and elimination had my elbow killing me. Plus I had to make a ball change because my timeless stopped working like it usually does (the cover stops reacting) and the pain in my elbow plus the ball switch just destroyed me. My elbow is fine, it was just too much to jump back into after a year.

@@bowlingman913 - The day I learned about his passing, the cause of his death was uncertain. This was after I had left Atlanta and was already in KC, as I was editing the show, getting it ready for a public release a few days after Thanksgiving. I learned that he had passed on Thanksgiving. I called his grandma after I'd heard the news, but she was in no shape to talk about it. I haven't pressed the issue or investigated any further since that time. So the short answer is, no, I don't know what happened to him, other than that he passed. I always knew him to be a good kid. A pretty darn good bowler who would sometimes stay after and bowl with the big boys (grown-ups).

As far as I'm concerned, they have no right to interrupt someone else's content to insert a commercial wherever their 'bot decides to do so. But there's nothing I can do about it. These PRODIGY shows all have actual commercial breaks built into them. It wouldn't bother me so much if KZbin wanted to load up those breaks with commercials. I have a question do u have to be a specific age to participate in this? 😂 and do u come to upstate NY sometimes? Or no bc im currently bowling an trying to go pro ive been bowling for 2 an a 1/2 years an this recent Tuesday I shot a 279 the first game and I have to learn when bowling for example keep the same speed an revs. Oh yea an im a two fingered bowler if I worded that correctly 😂 I am NOT a two handed bowler (but I can bowl 2 handed) if needed 😂
@ProdigyBowlersTour
@ProdigyBowlersTour 2 жыл бұрын
@@Skdjdjdjsjxjxjd -- This was a special event, the last one held in the Atlanta area, and the first one held in about 18 months since the pandemic began. So I opened it up to all youth bowlers who had ever bowled on PRODIGY, even if they'd since aged out of youth bowling AND any other youth bowler who had never bowled PRODIGY. PRODIGY has always been for youth bowlers. On occasion, I would open up the field to adults, but not very often. We used to end each season with an Adult/Youth event, and on rare occasions when we needed another player or two to fill out the field, I'd invite a parent to join in. But generally speaking, PRODIGY events are for youth bowlers. We don't break things into traditional U12, U15, U18 style age groups. If we break the field into age divisions at all (and we often don't, just letting everybody mix it up together), we might to a "Bigs" and "Littles" division. All PRODIGY competition is non-sanctioned, and as we used to say on each episode, PRODIGY is "Unofficial, Informal, and Impromptu challenge match competition designed to mimic the pressure of big time tournament competition in an open play environment." I used to mix up the formats each week based on who we got to show up to bowl in the event. This is one of the things that gave PRODIGY its unique appeal. But in the final season (2019-2020) and this event, we pretty much stuck to the same format most of the time, with a short qualifying round, seeding the top 4 players into guaranteed spots in the stepladder, and then winnowing the rest of the field down to one player through a Single Ball Elimination Wild Card Round to seed the 5th player in the stepladder. This achieves one big goal of mine, which is to give every kid who goes to the trouble to come bowl with us a chance to appear on the show, even if it's just to throw one ball. And no, I don't go to upstate NY or anywhere else. Players come to us if they want to bowl. Since I've now moved from the Atlanta area to Kansas City, I'll be scoping out the youth bowling scene here in coming months to try to identify a suitable place for PRODIGY to call home.
