No it isn't, it's only the 2nd generation, and that is if you get a qdoled panel, there is a good chance it might be a woled panel instead. In Europe I think, only the 65 inch will ever be a qdoled, the 42,48,55,77, and 83 are all 100% woled.

Personally, I feel like upscaling may be the most important variable for the vast majority of consumers. Most of us are streaming, and aren’t buying Blu-ray or paying for super high quality streams. With that said, I’d be curious how this compares to the S90C, the C3 and C4, and Sony’s A80L and X93 LED. 1. Do the differences in panel tech makeup for the differences in QD/Woled/MiniLED/brightness etc? 2. How will these different technologies do over the course of the next decade? I’d love to get 10 years out of my tv.

If you’re in the US S89C is the same type of panel the difference is minor picture quality wise but it’s the TV OS is a lot faster on the S90D.

@@cesiliaduarte1781 I’ve done a ton of research over the last year regarding tv tech, and streaming services and Apple TV is far and away the superior product. Far from garbage, and makes even last year’s choppy, clunky version of Tizen look completely washed out. I’m willing to give Tizen a chance this year, but am likely still going to go with Apple down the road because it’s my personal preference, and will also sync with the other Apple devices I have. Everyone has their own preferences and opinions, which I respect, but trust me when I tell you that I’ve thoroughly thought this through 👌🏻

At the end of the day, does the S90D with its QD panel and saturated colors trump the LG Woleds (C4 for example) with better processing, upscaling and the inclusion of Dolby Vision + DTS audio ... i guess, for most folks, it will be rather an personal consideration and/or deliberation. Not an simple choice to make 🤔 Ofcourse, money and price between the brands and models also play a role.

Especially about G8 because of it's OLED glare free coating and lack of polarizer. Will we see significant difference between this monitors vs 2024 TVs from these brands? (because of CPU difference in TV & monitors too) I'm thinking to buy a new display for my PC desktop setup and can't decide yet what to buy - a WOLED/QD OLED 32" monitor or 42" OLED TV (probably it's too big for desktop usage). It would be great if you will do also a some few monitors reviews with your knowledge and experience in TV industry. Any way, thanks again for your work!

What would be improved? What am I looking for? There’s just certain games that can’t run good with GMP keep that in mind. Stable locked 30 fps no frame dips is the best way to get GMP working with the least issues.

Yes it does. Like all the great TVs it has low input lag, most TVs in this price bracket has ultra low latency. 10ms 60hz and 5ms 120hz

That’s up to you how much you value that, how much you navigate the OS and menus realistically factors in, it’s not the S90C’s terrible with that it’s just the S90D sped it up noticeably. If you use a streaming device this wouldn’t matter as much.

S90D is a QD OLED so picture quality is going to be near the best you can find, while QM8 is a great TV it is still an LCD TV it suffers from common LCD problems it purely lacks in contrast and color compared to the S90D.

I would go for the S95D, only if the upscaling, smoothing and motion processing is much better than it is on the S95C. I think maybe the S95D is less prone to burn in than the S95C due to the new algorithm praised by Samsung, but I don't know what to say about matte antireflection, I don't like raised blacks.

If your talking about the 77 inch it will depend on your region, check to see if the last 4 letters match the S95D in your region for example in US FXZA is QD OLED

QD-OLED is an improvement but you will be losing some brightness with this particular model although it might not be that noticeable . S95D would definitely be the bigger upgrade and would be a jump in brightness from the Q90T.

Menu and UI is way faster. Stand looks nicer from the front, Color looks improved in HDR because it works like you’d expect it to playing to the strengths of QD OLED being in the correct color space on auto color space. The rest I still need more time to see what else could have changed.

The only time you’d ever need to worry about OLED burn in is if you’re leaving your tv on all day, every day on a program like 24 hour streaming news, or by leaving it on with a bright, static image on the screen for hours on end. Burn in is a result of user carelessness, so basically, take care of the tv properly, and you’re good to go 🤷🏻‍♂️👌🏻

Samsung said some improvements to wear compensation were made, but no more. Probably fine - look at the S95C running away with Rtings' durability test to a hilarious degree. No other OLED comes close, especially when you factor brightness measurememts in. QD-OLED gen 1 can burn if you just watch/play the same thing a lot. I have done this to mine, but still love the TV to bits. Gen 2 takes years of the same abuse and asks for more. I'd imagine gen 3 is going to need HDR torture tests to break the wear compensation.

It won't be used for gaming, just movies/ streaming ang i don't care about the audio quality because i just got the LG S80TR soundbar

I’d look at the G3 technically a QD OLED is better but for most modern shows and movies G3 will get it done for your situation better than the other ones that you listed and it comes with a 5 year panel warranty and you have LG synergy with your soundbar, if you decide you don’t want G3 than go S90D, S90C or S95C those are all very similar.

I just got this tv and is amazing, i used to have the LG C2 and i thought that was the best tv ever, but the S90D is miles ahead of lg oleds, the colors and brightness is like watching a qled, even sdr content looks super bright when you set the peak brightness to High, no weird workaround to play consoles like the nintendo switch or retro consoles on high peak brightness, so if you like sdr gaming and anime like me i truly recommend this tv. I change the color space to Native, because on Auto everything looks lifeless, but on normal and native the colors come alive. I have never had a samsung tv before so it was kind of weird turning the HGIG on game mode, i guess Basic is HGIG and advance is Dynamic tone mapping???. I truly recommend this tv, barely any dimming at all, unlike the lg c2 that i had, everything looks how is supposed too. Oh and another thing, when i turn on the tv for the first time it looked really dimmed and colorless even after changing the settings, but after two hours the tv came to life with colors and brightness, same thing happen when i got the LG C2, i guess is something with oleds pixels made with organic materials...

Eventually. S90D will win most categories. If you need this comparison now look at S90C vs QN90C it’s pretty dang similar specs and capability wise on both so that comparison would help you if buying soon.

guys I need a true answer here. Im about to buy the s90d but I read online by a couple of people that they own it, that the abl is very agressive and it litteraly ruins their experience. Is that true? I read on rtings that on real content the abl isnt noticable, but at the same time they have it as a (-) point for the TV and they say its too agressive. What is the reality? Is abl turned on rarely now and then on very bright scenes or is it something that can radomely occur in every bright movie and every game?? thanks

Was going to get the 77” S89C when it was $1799. I may wait until Black Friday to pick up the S90D, but I’m still enjoying my 75” QN90A. I want to make the QD OLED leap. After that will be microLED……..in like 6-7 years😆

Depends if you need the 85" size how far are you sitting from your TV? S90D is the best of these but the size difference may be the x factor for the other 2 if you need that. If you need bigger than 77" do Bright sun room TCL if your in a darker light controlled room go S90C.

Seating will be about 7’ from the TV. It’s in a downstairs room with one window so I can make it pitch black if I want to. I’m turning it into a theater/gaming room. Just trying to find the best bang for my buck and every time I decide to go with the TCL I keep going back to considering an OLED lol. LG C4 is a possibility too. But I feel like if I go OLED I’d want to go QD OLED for the better picture quality. Only downside is Samsung doesn’t support DV.

i just tried the S89C. I gotta admit, no one is talking about how great LG motion is. My LG C1 has better motion than the S89C. I compared both the C1 with the S89C with HDR content, and the LG C1 just has that better processing/motion/3D pop.

There isn’t a big difference in motion with LG C3 and S90C each have minor differences and their own struggles. Motion is just fine for both for most people.

Waiting for this to come out here. The only reason I may consider this over the S90C is due to the 90C being possibly first or second gen when I buy it. Seeing I will use this as for gaming and uni, I rather avoid that gamble.

What’s your region? Some regions S90D will be w-OLED in certain sizes that be worse than getting a gen 1 QDO. I think the chances of Gen 1 at this stage is unlikely for the S90Cs that remain.

@@TechWithKG Middle east (Kuwait) I have discussed this to the main distributor and they said the S90C is gen 2 and the S90D will be out in mid august but they can't comment on the screen type. I may get the S90C if they will guarantee the gen 2 but I wonder how to easily check without risking warranty.

the image is really nice... so far my only gripe ive encountered with it was the fact that a show i was looking at via amazon prime video it had some stutter that was very noticeable.. not entire sure what settings mitigate stuttering but from what i could notice some preset seems to get rid of that.

Hey KG looking forward to the 2024 QD OLED range but here in Australia the A95L is being discontinued with many retail stores and even sony au store not stocking it atm. Its very strange as I have the A95K and love it but wanted a 77 A95L but with no stock anywhere its very worrying as the Sony rep said they're going to mini LED heavy over here. Could it be that Samsung will be the only QD OLED on the market from now on? How is stock over there?

Hey i have read and watched most outlets regarding this s90d panel lottery issue, and up to now march 23 samsung has refused to give a clear answer in regards to this. One outlet said that this week release will only be qd oled panels, other outlet said it will vary by region. Knowing samsungs shenaningans over the years it will actually vary by country so i would be carefull on trusting reviews on this model until and if samsung decides to makes things clear.

I have a samsung qd oled and a sony woled and while both are great tv's i prefer the color pop and vibrancy on the qd by a large margin.I also pretty much hate the banding on woleds and i notice it everytime i turn on the screen. I admit it bothered me even more once i got a qd oled because I had gotten used to it and now i'm reminded what a clean background looks like. I have also had no burn in and one of my oled tb's is from 2015 I think and I also have a 2016 razer blade laptop with an oled screen. The laptop display has been on 8+ hrs a day and while I have had severe image retention from it overheating while the screen was down and it scared the crap out of me, it faded in a couple days. Both are still as far as I can tell burn in free. While i'm mindful of it and try to keep from overdoing brightness i really don't worry about it because it's proven to not be as big an issue even with heavy use. I'm also a gamer and have worried about Huds, but i do reduce their transparency in games that allow it.

Pure upscaling is often misinterpreted, upscaling on this TV is just as good as premium LG and Sony OLED TVs. Sony for example just has more ways to enhance the image even further which people mix up with upscaling.

Hi. Great review! Finally Samsung has solved ITS color space issue! Before switching to bt.2020 Led to a massive oversaturation in Terms of colors. One of the biggest Draw backs imo especially since in bt.2020 IS has much Higher color Volume than LG oleds. For some reason Samsung had a competitive Advantage but didnt fully utilize IT. However also my s95b Defaults to bt.2020 AS Standard since newest Firmware Update so this Feature isnt exklusive to 2024 models
