Jake has said in many interviews that they want to take the sounds of the past old blues and rock artists and move it forward. Put a contemporary sound to it. As an elder growing up with that sound, I think they are doing just that!

If people can overlook the way Elvis, Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, and so many others sounded almost exactly like music taken from earlier decades...I don't see why GVF has to be held to a different standard. We have music that comes out today that's celebrated for sounding like it came from the 80's and 90's. To me, this is very transformative and should be way more respected than it is.

They are every bit as good live! Catch the GVF concert near you. Super talented musicians and lead singer Josh could sing the damn news reels and create a hit! Will be seeing them soon in Seattle then maybe fly out to Michigan. Saw them in Spokane and Sacramento and I was not disappointed as they played 4 new songs in Sacramento for their last concert of the Dreams in Gold Tour. Their new album Starcatcher will be released at the end of July and I’m excited. I think I’m becoming a “Fleetie”

They started writing and playing in their early teens, and they continue to grow. Everyone I know who’s seen them live, and we’re talking about parents who have gone with their college age kids, has been blown away. They grew up listening to the parents and grandparents vinyl, so yes they’re fans of the songs from the late 60’s, 70’s, and early 80’s. Check out Broken Bells, Black Smoke Rising, or their latest Meeting the Master.

I understand the critique (kinda), but GVF has had this dream since they were kids. Jake knew exactly what he wanted and his brothers backed him the whole way. Not only were they there for him, but they became amazing artists themselves that can put a lot of other bands to shame. There is much more that goes into it than just sound. It's about the feel and the drive that the band has. They knew what they wanted and they are still on the road for achieving that. This "Haut Take" is VERY HOT!

probably need to listen to their latest song Meeting the Master..which is a 70s tune that goes into early 90s rock in some parts. . Light My Love is a ballad which focuses on his singing. But most of their stuff so far is what you said 70s rock feel.

I may only be 27,but the important part is I mostly only hear 50s-late 70s music and what I ever wanted was a modern band playing like a old 50s-70s band and than there was gvf, I don't have a single critique that they sound like Led or rush or even look (like in this) a bit like queen. That is just perfect and they are so talented, Sam can play with his feet the bass.

Look at so much older bands, mostly glam rock bands (or David bowie), than look at the looks of guys like Jimi Hendrix or Janis Joplin, Queen, Kiss, and so on and on, it's not unusual for Rock Bands to dress unusual but that is often for getting the song more story.

It seems like they are pretending. Doing things that they think are what a rock band should do. The lyrics are weak which totally deflates the music. They do sound a lot more like Rush. Toby you do more coughing than anybody on youtube, might want to lighten up on the smoking man.

Actually, the Lyrics are pretty deep, take the time to read them and decipher what they are saying, they may mean different things to different people but good lyrics do that, they make you think about the message. Totally disagree about deflating the Music, strong song from start to finish.
