Why do you have to not like a song for lyrical content do you need like some sort of mind blowing revelation to happen some I've seen the light thing instead of just having fun doing with the music it's really about the use its not about the words. I honestly can't get all the hate, as a classic rock lover (and as big fan of Led Zeppelin, otherwise on how many gvf haters write "Zeplin" lmao) when I heard them for first time (last year on October) I got really shocked, and loved them immediately. That a band bring us melodies mixed between 70s and 80s rock influences with a something of 21st century is something great. The reaction was so accurate. This song is something that u can't explain so imagine how is gonna be the album.
@Toribowie473 жыл бұрын
I completely agree. As a big Led Zeppelin fan myself, as is my mum who is coming 51 and my boss who is near 70 AND seen Zeppelin live, we all absolutely adore this band. Talent is absolutely dripping from them. This is my favourite song from the entire album. My boss loves The Weight of Dreams. In 2021 when there is a relatively new band who make you feel such deep emotion you can't even explain it, we need to give them the credit they so deserve! These guys are amazing.

I'm really glad you liked this! I fell in love at the second note! I'm gonna write here what they said about this song in an interview to Rolling Stone: " Broken Bells is what a fetter of society does to impact a pure and innocent soul. Our intention is to remove the obligation of general synthetic expectations; break down these walls and not build new ones".

I never understood the lyrics until recently when I came across a review. It mentioned how it can be interpreted as freedom or lack of in society. How some cannot fully express themselves and be who they want to be. The “game” can be society and the standards it puts on us. They are very big into “unplugging from the source” “choosing the road” and in order to save ourselves we need to “open our mind” like the rose growing in concrete and the sun that will one day shine we will rise one day and break the wheel that society put on us! Once I read that and tried finding my own meaning of it my love for this song INCREASED! It is one of my favorites now 🤍 loving your reactions to all of gvf content as well!!

Here is another example of how glorious GVF are - and that it is worth exploring their lyrical and musical talent rather than people still being hung up on Highway song - for such young guys to have crafted such beautiful lyrics and grown so much musically I can't help but feel so proud of them - even though I don't know them - in a way I think I do. BLISS. That they create music of soul and substance and that Josh has a vocal gift may in some ways be reminiscent of someone because people say all things on social media - it is all down to them - and they are just wonderful.They are Greta Van Fleet and they are talented and live for music. That can never be a bad thing.

They just put out a live version of this on Candlelight sessions it would be incredible if you could go back and do reaction video to that

They speak about their inspirations their parents listened to alot of old school blues and soul musicians. Also Josh says his 3 main inspirations are John Denver, Demis Roussos and Wilson Pickett. I get the similarities that people say about Zeppelin he also has similarities I think to Janis Joplins voice. However he is a very unique singer and they are all very unique and very talented. It's crazy how young they are and how this is still the beginning of their journey, unfortunately alot of people will always use the Zeppelin copycat rubbish to try to bring them down, however even Plant himself only has great things to say about these guys. Highway Tune, they’ve said, was the very first song they wrote as a band when they were 13-15 years old (released when they were 18-20). Of course the lyrics aren’t great they’ve really grown with their lyrics and musical talents. But even if you think about it 13 and 15 year old boys wrote that and it became their biggest hit to date. That’s pretty impressive. Love to see them grow too.

There is a level of musical maturity in these gentlemen that screams "previous lives musicians" at 21-23 the maturity and confidence is very hard to believe. We are not talking talent like, Nirvana, or Foo Fighter.. we go beyond THAT.. They can have fun but this somng grabs you from the first note and chokes you. Something that I have not seen anyone mentions is the singers style of twisting his neck to bend a note .. WHERE DID THAT COME FROM? On a live performance he turns his head 15 degrees and the pitch changes twice then up and down and it changes twice more. He is a man possessed. There was a castrato singer FARINELLI (italian) who is said to have that talent , of course there are no recordings (1700s) but the records indicate he also change pitch by turning and changing neck position. Anyone knows anything about this? And any rate young people you have a gift here. Cherish them, be good to them make them feel loved.

Great reaction, I think this song is beautiful too! I also get quite an Eagles vibe when it changes in the second half.
