Keynote speaker Elisabeth Leamy describes how she came up with her contrarian system for doing your best work by not always doing your best. As an ABC News correspondent, she had to compete with her fellow correspondents for air time on national TV. When she tried to make EVERYTHING her best, NOTHING was. Instead, Elisabeth began dividing her efforts into: GOOD, BETTER and BEST. All of her work had to be good. Much of her work was better. And she "stole" time and resources from those lower level priorities to make a few worthy projects per year her very best. The TRIfecta Technique was born.
But how do you decide WHICH goals deserve WHAT level of effort?
The T-R-I in TRIfecta stands for TALENT-REWARD-IMPACT.
Ask yourself: Does this goal align with my (or my organization’s) unique TALENTS?
Does it have the potential to reap rich internal REWARDS?
Does it have the merit to make a positive external IMPACT?
If the answer to just 1 of these questions is yes, do a GOOD job.
If the answer to any 2 is yes, do a BETTER job.
If the answer to all 3 is yes, THAT's when you should do your BEST!
Get ready to do the BEST work of your LIFE!
