I made this cake. It turned out beautifully. I had used self raising flour. Instead of cream of tartar , I replaced it with some lemon juice. I also didn't have any cherries. I had used pineapple soaked in syrup ( the ones you get in a can) .The cake was super soft , light. Perfect recipe 👌 thanks Anna.

Well I couldn't wait till I got a reply to my last question so I just went for it. I made this cake TWICE!! One with just heavy whipping cream (plus the skim milk powder for some stability) because my husband doesn't like cream cheese. The other was made as shown in the video. Omgee Anna. Both of them were fantastic!! With most of my bakes I share with my family. My sister's loved it. My poor fingers. I had to take every pit out of those cherries by hand, lol. Now if that's not a labour of love for baking and my family I don't know what is. 😁 For those who haven't made this yet I have to say. You're missing out. Thanks Anna. Can't wait to make the tart from a few weeks back...

@@rain403 Hi. The sponge was moist. I'd say it's almost impossible to mess up a chocolate sponge due to the ingredients called for in the recipe. At least that's been my experience. If you're still not comfortable using her sponge recipe I do have another one that I use often. Just let me know and I'll give you the info. Happy baking...

@@siphahlegovuza2191 Not sure if you're asking about the entire cake or just the sponge? I'm in the process of making this cake again, lol. As for the sweetness level? I'm not fond of a lot of sweetness. When I say that think American Buttercream. I just can't handle that level of sweetness but this cake as a whole? I don't think it's too sweet. It's balanced just right imo. Hope this helps you out...

I am from Switzerland were the "Schwarzwäldertorte" (Blackforestscake) comes from. Your recipe is great, but if you want to go original, use only whipped cream without chocolate, only use whipped cream as frosting and sprinkle the side with chocolate chips 😉

Could the recipe in the description box have a mistake? It says 250g of creamcheese, which is ½ a package, but I've seen in other recipes that a full package is, in fact, 250g. I'm sorry but I'm spanish and don't know about canadien measures 😅 Congratulations for the videos. Big fan here!

Black forest was the only cake my dad would ever get us as kids to the point I couldn't stand it anymore😂. But this recipe looks absolutely delicious and as an adult I wouldn't mind trying it again. What I don't understand it how you have measured the flour since I have always heard that flour should be spooned and leveled into a cup and by dunking it into the flour it will always have more flour than the recipe.
