My favorite part of the Casino Royale scene is that after Bond wins, he tips the dealer a $500,000 plaque, and the dealer's reaction is a muted, expressionless "thank you sir" instead of "HOLY FUCK HALF A MILLION DOLLARS YOU'VE CHANGED MY LIFE"

The scene in the movie "In Time" which is actually a pretty decent movie, doesn't make sense on several levels. Not only the points that Fedor points out but also the villian could just wait 4 secs and the hero would be *DEAD* not his hand but him and the villian wouldn't have to pay him anything - that's what i would do
@danielhoang289

I think to prevent that situation, they would bet with their silver devices (which they do use throughout the movie) instead of their actual wrists. Kind of like in real life cash games, where you have money behind in your wallet but only the chips on table matter for all-in bet.

Speaking about casino royale scene, instead of analysing players' decisions, I would better mention that IRL players rarely shove all the chips, they simply dont have to. And in case of monsieur le Chiffre, he could just announce the call. Showdown - then dealer does the maths with chips and plaques. What if there is a choppot? They would waste tons of time rewatching the video trying to figure out which amount of money was put into pot by each player. Also, since Bond was the last one to raise he should've shown his hand first, not the last. And when all players show their hands dealer doesnt take their cards and make a combination with community cards.

During the final hand in Rounders, Mike never says "call" when Teddy goes all-in. He just sort of pushes his chips slightly forward and turns over his hand, declaring he has the straight. I don't think that would hold up in most cases, and his hand would be declared dead. Would it not?
@NeuroticNOOB

It depends on house rules if there is no betting line I guess. There are rules that consider a forward motion with chips a bet/call. If he goes over a betting line it is definitely a call though. You don't have to announce it verbally. Just flinging one chip into the pot would be fine too.

@augustgreig9420

Why would your hand be dead? And generally, you don't have to speak at all at the poker table, and since the bet put him all in, if he'd moved even one chip toward the pot and let it go, that would be considered a call. And people turn their hand over in situations like this all the time, and I mean before they even call, to try and get a read or a tell out of their opponent.

Casino Royale is loaded with coolers. The last hand it is 4 handed and one guy has a flush.... the other 88s full.... bad guy Aces full and Bond a straight flush. That is after Bond got coolered with Kings full of Aces by Quad Jacks. Not very realistic unless you were a regular on Full Tilt before it shut down. I was in line to have a deep run in a 2k field MTT and was second in chips with about 300 people left and got taken out by first in chips guy with quad 55s versus my quad 33s. Flop was like 853 turn 3 river 5.

what if you fold the nuts and muck them? They"ll never know it if there are no cameras. For example your friend is all in and you have the nuts and you are last to act 😂

In Time, wasn't too cringy. The main character is just a massive whale who got lucky. Molly's Game is the most cringy poker movie I've ever seen.

In Time had such an amazing concept but the "Casino Scene" bothered me every time I watched it ... the dialogue afterwards was also cringe as the hero (played by Justin Timberlake) reveals that he was never in doubt that he was gonna win ... yup with 8 4 o on a gut shot Flop ...

Terrible rating/analysis by this pro…Casino Royale: two players jam all in with 1 to a flush and the villain goes all in with 2 pair? Never. Rounders: not even a mention about the string bet.

And 4th clip: the dad should check on the river. Not call as the pro said…he is first to act.

I am downvote #14. The words professional and poker player are an oxymoron. They don't go together. It's a fallacy. You can't be a professional gambler. You can be a lucky one. But professional? FFS please.
