For e.g. me to be able to forgive we needed to have a starting point that what happened was done honestly and with good intentions; that it might have happened due ignorance, but it was motivated by genuine good will. I do not fault people from not knowing something. But it was not that. It was dishonest and deceitful from the start, it was no 'honest mistake' or 'wrong interpretation' at any point. If the person has been caught blatantly lying several times, e.g. forging harassment and then harassing others, I do not suddenly start to just believing them now when tune has changed.

Honestly, I think especially for people on the left it's very hard to see how their calls for limiting free speech and all sorts of forced diversity policies could ever backfire on them personally. We saw the same thing happen when immigrants were shipped to NYC and Martha's Vineyard. They were extremely pro-immigration with all their "all refugees welcome", "no human is illegal" slogans until those people came right up to their doorstep and they actually had to deal with the practical problem that their theoretical activism created. Especially in the age of social media where people just don't get out anymore and basically live on those platforms, it gets difficult for people to discern what measures are proportional and which aren't, especially if they sound really good e.g. "free housing for all immigrants". I can sympathize with people like that because every single one of us has been naive at some point and thought we know and understand the world around us. It's just a problem of our time that has become so large that I don't really consider it a personal responsibility problem but a Big Tech and government problem. They create those echo chambers and try to politically influence young teens. It's a problem they created. We need something like Critical Thinking classes in school and media literacy classes to make them aware of BS when they come across it. Still then young people don't have the necessary life and world experience to see problems in proportion. What I don't have sympathy, however, is shitting on an entire group of people because you have a personal vendetta against one guy. That's a completely different story...

The reaction to anyone calling out any of this nonsense should be "Hey, we're glad you're finally opening your eyes and learning to be honest with yourself. I was a transman from childhood up until age 28. I naturally saw myself as a man and grew up as a boy. I empathized with men and shared their social experiences. This stuff can't be faked, my psychology is much more akin to men than women. I only begun to have some of the experiences women do when I detransitioned a year ago. I hope you consider that trans people are being honest about their social experiences and that's not delusional. I passed extremely well as a man and my transgender condition didn't come up very often. I just lived my life and had a brotherhood with other men. Even my detransition did not erase this history.
