I really wish that a party flip would trigger a by election. You were elected to a particular party and your constituents cast their votes with an understanding of how you would act that is based on your party affiliation.

Agree. It is frustrating that charlatans like Santos and Sinema are able to dupe their voters and yet, remain. Every State needs to enact recall election laws.

In Wisconsin, apparently we won but we also lost. We won the Supreme Court election, however, the GOP now has a super majority in our state. Not sure how this is going to shake out.

Technically, a Presidential election is not a federal election, it is 51 elections to elect a slate of electors. It is the electors that actually vote for the president and vice president.
@KathrynAnnWilliams Жыл бұрын
That needs to change, IMHO. Too many hands on the pot and I don't trust the slate of electors in this day and age,.
@SuperGion915 Жыл бұрын
I'm sure a federal election doesn't refer to who is allowed to vote, but rather the position they are electing, and they are electing a federal position.
@ashyasharris1 Жыл бұрын
Though it is a federal position that's being elected, the states administer those elections and each has its own set of rules and laws pertaining to how the elections are conducted, so it's something of a grey zone.

Yeah well, we're eliminating that electoral college bullshit. Time to simply vote by popular vote.

I think in Chicago younger voters increased their turnout and they went for Johnson. WI is a 50/50 state that like a number of other states (MI and NC) in the recent past have been manipulated to seem more Republican than they are. Remember the Republican candidate won by ~1%. Not exactly a blow out. The youth vote was also important in the state as were the votes cast against Republican voter law manipulation.
@ashyasharris1 Жыл бұрын
The youth vote and women generally are to be commended for the resounding victory in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race. Kelly's post-election "concession" speech was disgusting too, FWIW.

Man, if you don't believe in being tough on crime, you're a bad person. You're telling me you want to be merciful to thieves, murderers, rapists, domestic abusers, child abusers, fraudsters...like those people don't deserve mercy. Maybe it's a good idea to use lighter methods of punishment if it will reduce recidivism, which I think it will. Maybe there are crimes that shouldn't be crimes, which I think is true. But philosophically, if you feel sympathy for terrible people, you shouldn't be given a platform.

I wonder how Chicago's election would have turned out if they used approval or star voting. Those tend to lead to more moderate results. They used run-offs which shut out the moderates from the general election.

You so right! I have political debates, with my co-workers at work. Their support is based on scamming and get free stimulus money which they believe he started. They would vote for him and look the other way on his criminal Behavior. I was stunned and appalled of the lack of morals and ethics. But this is what they say in their defense, Trump is just like America meaning that America is unjust and corrupt just like Trump. So he's the best person to represent us. That's their defense. At that instant I thought these people should not be allowed to vote. I know that's wrong, but this is how the next one who really tried this authoritarian takeover other government. It's these kinds of people that will give in and destroy our democracy.#ethics matters
