PROJECT OF THE MONTH 2025 KICKOFF! Join our year long adventure to complete 12 unfinished projects!

We challenge everyone everywhere to pick out 12 projects you want to accomplish in 2025.They can be any type or size of project you want! Quilts, Crafts, Painting, Knitting, Crocheting, Home Dec, Scrapbooking Projects, Clothing, Legos, Art Pieces, - absolutely any category! It's your choice!
Write the list down, numbering them one through twelve. Find a way to store the list and the projects so they are accessible and easy to find. The first week of each month we will present a video where I reveal what I accomplished the previous month and to pick the number for the project we will work on for that month. Then it's time to work on whatever project is chosen! We know it is sometimes hard to motivate yourself to finish old projects or start on a project that is intimidating. We want to help you get over the hurdle and give you encouragement to finish an older (OR NEW!) project!

The Quilted Forest is located at 205 North Clark in Forest City, IA. Our phone number is 641-585-2438. We stock patterns, books, notions, batting, and fabric for sewing and quilting projects. Our shop is filled with finished quilts and smaller projects to provide plenty of inspiration. We are open Monday - Friday, 10am to 5pm, and 10am to 4pm on Saturday. We are in the central time zone.

I love this 12 month project idea. Last year I found 18 projects. I numbered them all and got started. I stayed on track until I got bit by feral cat on my right hand. It took me 3 months to get over that. I have my boxes numbered and ready to start again. Thank you for sharing this idea!!!

Yeah! I finished my January project! This charity baby quilt had a few problems that gotten fixed. Now it’s turned in, blessed in church, & has gone to its new home - thanks to Quilted Forest. Thank you! Blessings!

Oh my, you have really inspired me to finish what hasn’t been finished yet! I like to call them WIPS (works in progress)! (Not my invention! ). I have my projects divided up into baggies instead of tubs, but some of them even contain notes so I dont forget what it was going to be! This means I have to give the baggies a number so I know which one I will be working on! To make it random I will have my husband put the numbers in each baggie, so I won’t know until he’s finished which one is number 4.

When I saw the 2015 Row By Row on the list, my 1st reaction was, "Oh no, I have to add that to my list now." I did make 2 quilts from the patterns for my daughters in 2016, but I still have the "license plates" and one kit to make. I really liked your projects and this process, though last year I kept getting sidetracked by my brain wanting to do something else, and this year, my list has about 30 things on it.

Happy New Year, Shelley! I’m doing Karen Brown Just Get It Done Quilts’s 21 Days to Declutter. Today’s question is “Is this garbage?” So I spent about half an hour picking up garbage and then I organized some fabric into an art bin and I cleaned my machine. So-great first day! 😀 I’m always SO impressed by your productivity! I will enjoy watching your progress again this year. My first project is going to be a Burgoyne Surrounded-and as I collected fabric this evening (this quilt has been in the rotation for a LONG time!) the receipts for this fabric said-yes, you guessed it-December 2015! So-only 9 years, not 10! 😂😂😂 For the past two years, I’ve made five quilts per year; so that’s my goal this year, too. Instead of numbering them, I’ll just slog through them. 😳 I’ll be watching, Shelley! ❤

I made a great start last year but eventually fell by the wayside although I kept watching. I am just going to carry forward my unfinished projects from last year. I won't have 12 projects listed but one project is a long term hand sewn hexie quilt so I will focus on that in the month's I don't have a project listed. I do sew a lot as I am part of Project Linus UK Northumbria and usually make 4 quilts every month for our region. I am drowning in scraps so love your 2.5" jelly roll series. I have a plan to spend 15 mins every day cutting my older scraps into pre-cut sizes and, going forwards, cutting new project scraps immediately I finish a project. Looking forward to following you again this year. Happy New Year!

I am a brand new quilter....I wouldn't even know 12 projects! LOL....I'm starting the year simple by using up scraps I have from years of sewing (just not making quilts). One step, one month at a time! I will try and come up with some projects to "number" so I can join in....but they will be VERY basic! Happy New Year!

It's so exciting at the beginning of the year...Until I get uninspired. But I still keep watching your videos to see how you're progressing This year, I have all of my projects in the bins, but also have reorganized many unfinished projects and made an extensive list of those as well. I'm embarrassed at how much fabric I have. I feel bad that I spent so much on it and my husband had to find ways to cover the credit card payment each month. He passed away in 2022. I pray for his forgiveness every day. So, on to 2025. I'm going to limit my spending on quilting fabric and feel fulfilled making all these projects he scrambled to pay for. I love you, Bill. And I'm so sorry.

Wow! I have some row by row license plates. I need to GRT them together. This is a great idea. I don't have the 12 projects together yet, but I will tomorrow. For me, I need the longarm. I have so many tops to be quilted. I would like to donate some to a nursing home or shelter.

This is one of my favourite segments on your channel. Last year, everything in your buckets I would have made into a year-long project. They seemed so hard to me. (I have only quilted for 3 years) This year, you have somethings that I would not dread picking. I'm so glad you picked the Splendid Sampler quilt for January. It is a good month to tackle big things. It will be amazing and feel so good to get done. I have only one abandoned project. I did not have the skills to complete it. It was an improv quilt all on bias. This is the year I will complete it.:)

I am doing this too. Definitely need to complete stuff. Currently I’m working on lengthening some curtains, and adding a ruffle on the bottom. When I’m done with that, I have a valentine themed runner that has been in my stash since the beginning! Hershey kisses fabric. Will be easy to put together.
