This helped a lot. The source of my social anxiety formed once I awoke to the reality that a great many people are always projecting and, subsequently, the time spent tearing down these assumptions and expectations during conversation resulted in wasted energy or becoming psychologically exhausted. Serenity came as I discovered and accepted the changes occurring within as opposed presuming I needed to change anyone's perspective. "Is this pleasurable for the both of us" became the focus while socializing.

Your example of the dog reminded me of how people think that animals like cows, chickens, pigs, etc don't have personalities or inner worlds because we are conditioned to think of them as mere items to consume for food, clothing, etc. They actually do. Some are shy, others are playful, but due to their social status their throats get cut anyways.

Projection is simply an inevitable sunbconcious aspect of humanity. You can look beyong, but even ur understanding of that will be partially projection.
@TheDiamondNet6 жыл бұрын
Certainly, the understanding would be. Once you place language or thought upon something, it is then imbued with meaning through projection. This is why language (and intellectual thought) is empty of Truth and cannot accurately describe the nature of things from the level of the absolute.

We label things as a function of language, which we use to communicate. A problem arises when we confuse our mental constructs for the reality around and within us. These mental constructs are based on beliefs we have found to be useful in terms of navigating our world and communicate with each other. These ideas about the world are the illusion of Maya; or projection. You are spot on.

Your explanation of projection is so spot on for me. I had this video playing and was getting ready for my day so I was halfway listening until I heard you speak on how we describe a dog’s personality through our own projections. I am a dog groomer and this was the first thing I noticed about human projection as well. I immediately stopped when I heard you say that and started the video over again and sat to listen. I loved this . Thanks

Another excellent video Emerald! It's like it often somes down to the same thing... the thinking mind obviously being incredibly useful, but often obscuring a deeper reality that reveals itself we become aware of our own awareness. Not to rid of the thoughts and concepts, but to change our relationship to them.

Projections are highly emotional charged activity ( dynamic energy) that occurs whenever an unknown aspect of yourself sees itself in somebody else, Projections are illusions created by the shadows of one's mind. Fear being the template for its own manifestation.

I was diagnosed BPD, jumped into DBT, 18 months , came out the other side in great shape. I have no interest engaging with my son daughter anymore. My daughter, from another man, omg, it's just sad. Projection !!! Complete cognitive dissonance. I'm surprised what I've done, such lies. My daughter went as far as accusing me of molesting her age 6. She felt it necessary to tell my son , age 8 . The bottom line here seems to be “don’t believe you’re lying eyes”. How can we differentiate between ideas that are accurate descriptions of reality and those which are corrupted by or are pure projections? We consider Jung’s theory of psychology an accurate description of the mind. We don’t consider them results of projection. I’m afraid this concept leads people to blame themselves in instances where they “call someone out” for doing something wrong. The wrongdoer may say to the victim “you only feel I’ve insulted you because I’m a woman and you are projecting your fears and resentment of having a female boss onto me”. Sort of a “Jedi mind trick” thing. This has nothing to do with projections but I’m curious what you think of the sociological theories of Emile Durkheim, specifically his theory of “anomie” ? It strikes me as spot on. The fear of social isolation as the great motivator of our behavior and the evolution of society. Do you think the purely internal workings of the mind are more important than social forces. Can or should they be differentiated?

I think folks do this everyday & gossip is a route of expressing their repressed areas to get through negative or collective experiences in culture.

I appreciate your videos very much. They put into words things I've experienced. They have helped a few of my friends as well. I find that building a romantic relationship is difficult because when ever I get triggered I go into meditation and contemplation to see where I am or may be projecting onto my partner before I react to the situation. As a result it is difficult to communicate, even if I state that I need to "sit with this." I don't know how to have a close relationship with a woman because of it. I watched the first few minutes of the video and .. started feeling uncomfortable .. because .. I was not understanding it intuitively .. Then .. paused it .. and realised that .. whatever understanding I am getting out of it was at a very surface level, more like just processing information.. and realised that I was projecting my own understanding of what your understanding is on projection, instead of really understanding the subject matter.. It made me so uncomfortable, but.. I wanted to watch it still.. So, I took a break of 3 days.. and I started observing my projections... I dont say I am free of them.. Like you said .. it is very subtle and our tendencies are so high.. Now I am watching it from where I had stopped and it makes sense.. But.. I will be taking it all in slowly to relieve myself of it.. Thanks a bunch for your insights... and breaking it down so clearly every single time!!

So basically what you’re saying is a person’s narc mom could have said you’re stupid bc of _____!! And so the person carries that perception around themselves and believes that lie. So they believe that others see them as stupid when that person is very intelligent. That is chain-breaking!! If only we could all throw away our unrealistic filters, we would be a lot happier!!
@TheDiamondNet6 жыл бұрын
Yes. Because of the impressionable nature of children, what their parents say to them or whatever beliefs they instill in them will become part of the projection that they superimpose over reality at large and themselves... until they deconstruct that filter, of course.

So is projection related to the synapse formed when one idea is connected to another or one experience is connected to the next? Does projection require a synapse to be formed in the brain physically and is it similar to having a set of heuristics?
@TheDiamondNet5 жыл бұрын
I'm unsure what the process is in terms of the physiology of the brain. I'd have to research into that, but that seems like a possibility. But in the video it's more the latter, with regard to a set of heuristics for categorizing and creating a framework to interact with and make sense of reality through. That said, the heuristics can either be very accurate or very inaccurate depending on how grounded or ungrounded someone is in the empirical reality. And the divergences can be difficult to spot.

Great video, again. :-) ... I have a question. One of my greatest challenges for a long time (particularly over the last few years) has been my deep frustration, even anger, over other people's projections of me. As a preface: I have understood projection on an intuitive level for a very long time, and so I was able to recognize it in myself and consciously eradicate quite a bit of it. I think I was able to do this through embracing the power of forgiveness and perceiving the whole universe as a continuously changing energetic organism, which allowed me to accept everyone as a new and constantly evolving person in every interaction. This really grounded me in the reality of the present and allowed me to eliminate so many unconscious projections... *BUT* ... Where I do need help is that I deeply resent when other people (let's be clear... I'm mainly talking about my father) project *their* own junk onto *me.* Since learning about the psychology of projection over the last year or so, it's been a little easier because I've been able to clearly define and pinpoint what's happening... But it still has such a negative psychological impact on me when, for example, my Dad (who I see on average once every two years) will ask a question and then literally mimic an answer in my voice, and then respond to that answer as if I was the one who said it, then tell everyone else in the room how foolish I am for saying such a thing... and by the time I can get a word in to say that I'd said no such thing, I'm so worked up about what's happening that I tense up my body and sometimes lose my ability to be coherent. It's something he's done to me in various forms since I was a child (I'm now 33) and unfortunately I've let his mental map and projections hold me back a lot over the years, as I feel I'm constantly battling them - even when he is not around. Any initial thoughts on this are highly appreciated, even if it's just pointing me to some other resource or video. Obviously there's more to this than the above example, and I'd love to get your take on it. I *am* considering your guinea-pig program actually, because I think a longer form conversation on this might be useful. I'm just wavering at the moment... Maybe because the last life coach I had reminded me of my Dad! 😂😂😂

So yesterday i tried to astral project for the first time and it felt like i was dying or maybe that's what i thought so i freaked out and made my physical body wake up. It was the weirdest thing I've ever felt in my life... my heart started beating so fast and i couldn't breathe good. Do you think this is sleeping paralysis? Do you think i was doing it right? I think i was in the sleeping paralysis stage but the thing is i was able to move my body when i wanted to and this is really confusing because... isn't sleeping paralysis when you are awake but can't move?

Thanks for the video. I was thinking earlier about how a person can give a voice to what is perceived as their peer group, or society, status quo or even their parent, and this voice is telling them what to do, how to act. Is this projection to oneself? It took me forever to realize that it was only me talking and urging myself on, or putting constraints on myself. It's so deceptive and seems to be a way of avoiding responsibility for one's actions.
@TheDiamondNet6 жыл бұрын
You're welcome. :) This would be an example of projection onto reality, as you are encoding intellectual meaning onto things you're experiencing. And there is a projection onto the self. But to be more specific, the idea of 'self' itself, is a projection. So, it's like a projection on top of a projection. But if we have a rigid idea of what is acceptable for ourselves to express and we fear being rejected, we will have an inner bully that polices all of our actions to be sure that we remain socially acceptable. But it is the idea of what's socially acceptable that gets projected onto reality. And then we project the idea, "I have to behave this way, and avoid behaving that way to have social value and not be rejected." So, all of these are really projections. None of that is inherent to our experience of reality. Reality is empty of intellectual meaning. Intellectual meaning and projection of those meanings is a mechanism for making reality comprehensible and workable for human beings. So, projection is basically like a tool, that is often not recognized as such.
@projectmalus6 жыл бұрын

Its crazy how much Ti you're using while talking, but I know it's to be concise. To some degree it makes me think of when an INTP is communicating and isn't using any Fe, it can kind of take on this Ben Stein Clear Eyes commercial type of thing, which from you it's not this stark of a contrast. It is fine by me most of my Life I have prefered Ni-Ti over Fe even though some see that as unhealthy... but to get to the point or my thought is I wonder if your content could be as concise but with a more Fe element for the purpose of drawing in those who might be turned off from the Ti subconciously. Then again if they cant handle it maybe to some degree they aren't ready to take in your information yet? I dunno lol but I like your channel. Honestly I prefer your commuication how it is, it was just a thought sorry. Wait maybe I'm projecting onto you and I should just let you be as you are, and enjoy and understand the video... maybe Im starting a loop right now so Im gonna go make a snack lol.

I get what you’re saying. It’s just hard to talk to a camera using my FE function. I’m an INFJ, so my functions are Ni Fe Ti Se. So, my FE is naturally strong. But if I have no person to direct it at, I’m afraid that it’s difficult. Recently I’ve been using my webcam to film, so I can talk to my face as it shows up on the computer and that’s enough to trick my mind into believing it’s talking to another person. So, those videos are a bit more animated.

Took notes maybe can help comment section Projection how is it happening-Meeting reality as it really is. An assumption based on some underlining tendencies. Process by which we encode meaning and value into reality. Intelectual meaning. Imagine and screen experiences superimposed by strong yet subtle performance of projection . We live in our idea bubbles and interact accordingly. Thoughts and intentions ideas and meaning to make sense to operate in society culture or in short a mental model of reality. Double edged sword in general in that it allows us to create complex experiences. The lens we use actually can distort reality. our ideology world view psychology can be that lens . The goal is to function better and detach from our false vision or projection s thus cultivating a loving awareness or more ourselves Subconscious-Imagination seeing or feeling the fear the monster archetype or dangerous wild animals or humans. “Monsters under the bed” self esteem self worth motivation becoming available to self love is a good example of my monster Alone plus the dark = equals I’m dead 😵 😂 Steps -channels of experiences all at once.
