The Samsung LSP9T does have better motion handling from our testing. In fact, I would say the LSP9T has the best motion handling of any of the USTs that we've tested. They being said, the HU85LA still does a good job in regards to motion, just not as well as the LSP9T.

I would fully agree with ProjectoScreen here. The Samsung does it very nice and natural but the LG is also really very good in motion handling. You can configure on the LG the sharpening and the smoothening with seperate levers. On the Samsung you only have one lever which affects both as far as I can tell. I woould probably not take a puchase decision due to that. They are both good in this regard.

OH - ONE MORE QUESTION FOR YOU Brian... Optima CinemaX P2 vs LG HU85LA Shoot-Out on the Horizon?? So my question is - which would you pick if you had the choice? Optima P2 seems the better value, but I hear HDR is better on the LG and it pushes a brighter more POP of an image even though it is rated for less lumens, and the larger DLP chip makes the LG even crisper, and it is faster for gaming (slightly) and I guess when it comes to black levels they are on par, MAYBE LG is better? I am trying to decide which one to get. I am not concerned with the speaker sound, more better image quality, and i am pushing these against a VIVIDSTORM PRO S 100" - Light Controlled environment. Thx for the review, indeed 2 real competitors I am currently considering! In the end of the video you mention that the Samsung supports more formats than the LG? Considering video, I think both support HDR10? But the Samsung also HDR10+? Considering audio, I thought the Samsung is NOT able to play DTS audio formats (also not via passthrough?) and the LG can output/passthrough almost all modern (5.1/HD/7.1) audio formats. Assuming every one in this price range "will not rely on the projector alone as a soundbar" and have separate audio surround systems, this seems an important item (still many movie content uses DTS, DTS-HD or DTS-X). Since the LG reduced its price recently (and it is already 1,5 year on the market), maybe a new UST projector with WebOS 5 or 6 and WiSA on board will be announced soon?
@ProjectorScreen3 жыл бұрын
The Samsung supports HDR10+ and HLG, the LG only HDR10. I personally would not suggest trying to pass audio through the projector if you are using a sound-system and instead run your video sources into a receiver and then HDMI out into the projector. That way you need no passthrough on the projector. I can't comment on anything coming out in the future but with the UST segment being so hot right now, I would expect to see continued innovation and improvements on USTs for the years to come.
@macho95563 жыл бұрын
@@ProjectorScreen I would suggest the same route as in connecting the source to your receiver, pre/pro and then out to the projector. But when your trying to watch something in HDR10+ just to see how HDR10+ looks and your pre/pro is not compatible with HDR10+ you have to connect the source straight to the lsp9t projector and passthrough the audio. I found out that the lsp9t does not play nice with audio passthrough
@macho95563 жыл бұрын
That is correct, the lsp9t does not play DTS files. It says audio format not supported. It does not passthrough either even tho it has a passthrough option in the settings, it is always greyed out.

The throw ratio of (0.19) is the main feature that I value in these two expensive ust projectors, beside the no moving parts laser system. All other brands have 0.23 or 0.25 and you need a deep table for them. The cons of the LG are the size/design, audio power and old web os version. The cons of the Samsung are the lower contrast, OS, prize and no backlited remote.

They don't design projectors with the intent of low latency for gamers. They design projectors for movies, and the best possible cinematic experience. Yeah you can game on them. We agree, sound is important and part of the cinematic experience. That being said, we would always suggest using an AV receiver as your primary input and run video the the projector and audio to speakers separately over using any onboard audio for a projector or the projector as your primary input and route audio out of it.

Cop out :) u gotta call a winner in a shoot out :)) How abt Samsung vs epson ls500 shootout?
@ProjectorScreen3 жыл бұрын
My "indecisiveness" on selecting a clear winner really came down to the price difference. If they were both the same price, I would suggest the Samsung LSP9T, but with the substantial price difference there is a compelling reason to consider the HU85LA at almost 25% less.

HU85LA seems discontinued already :\\

It is, however it’s successors the HU915QE and HU915QB are far superior projectors.

1:50 you don’t even have to do anything else at this point, I just looked at both of them one is smaller than the other obviously I’m going with the Samsung because it smaller
@ProjectorScreen3 жыл бұрын
The Samsung is no doubt smaller. Some people do prefer the boxy/angular shape of the LG. Based on aesthetics (size, shape, etc) I'd give it to the Samsung as well.

Lg always better than samsung and more natural sharp. But also very very very expensive.😔

You should have used a calibrated image and not just standard mode... as you can see that the LG uses a more aggressive contrast enhancer in the standard mode which leads to the fact that the lg is brighter here even though with proper colors the samsung is much brighter. Its a quite pointless comparison in my opinion.
@ProjectorScreen3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the feedback Marco, I'm sorry you didn't think our video was useful. We chose to use standard mode for this video for several reasons. 1) It is brighter than a calibrated picture mode. Based on hundreds of conversations with customers regarding the environment they are setting these USTs up in and the criteria that is most important for their viewing experience, brightness is key. 2) Standard mode is the easiest to match apples-to-apples between all of the various USTs in this series.
@gamingfunfacts3 жыл бұрын
@@ProjectorScreen I get your idea but it would have been more useful then to do maybe both. Cause in the brightest mode of the Samsung it is also brighter than the LG. The two standard modes do not use the same settings in regards of Dynamique contrast and such. On general the Samsung is the brighter projector and has the more accurate colors but exactly that is not the outcome of your video. People think now the LG is brighter what is not true.

I think the same. The Samsung look much better in black and color, but in this video people will think the LG look better because it brighter. This video is useless and may make people missleading.
