Hello Leo, very cool video! I cannot offer advice about pump or wing foiling, but I do prone foil and can tell you that your struggle would be drastically reduced if you changed your 85cm mast with a shorter one. Most prone guys ride no longer than 75cm mast. The roll sensitivity would be reduced and you would feel more control over the foil. Also, you can prone foil in a bit shallower areas. Hopefully, you have a shorter mast available. You are right about the HA foils. I just switched to Fluid T, size LT 1250cm2, and the stall speed is much higher. I have to keep the speed up or stall. It's a noticeably faster wing though.

Next time Prone Foiling I'll use the 75 cm Mast! I'm used to the 85 cm for Pumping and Winging so the Foil stability was perfect for me I guess, but I definitely need more ground clearance as I ran into the ground a lot on the 85 cm Mast. Unfortunately, I only had the Old mast in 65 cm with me in Portugal and it was way too unstable for the Big Wingspan Frontwing, but I'm really excited to go out on the 75 cm Mast soon! I'll probably breach it a lot but should get used to it pretty fast... But the Speed is also a lot of fun :D

New stabs make a huge difference,also in speeeed! Give it a try

I still haven't ordered mine but I really need to!!! Few Weeks Ago another Winger with the New Stab was faster than me and had a lower Stall speed than me while he was on the Fluid XLH and I was on the Veloce XLH with the Old Stab. I really need to change that :D

Respect that you can handle a 105cm high aspect foil with a 85cm alu mast on a hipe! Never tried more than 80 and that just a few times in the beginning! Way too much hassle with the sandbanks!)

Great progress!!!! Did you put your High AR Foil in the same position in your Box as your Med AR Foil?
@leo-stief Жыл бұрын
Thanks :) I've played around with the Position a Lot and found out that I liked it most when the Foil was completely forward, just like with the Med AR Foils :)

Hey Leo, how was your experience in terms of board response and flex with the gong hipe? I tried the 85l version in wingfoiling and didn‘t really like it to be honest. How big is the difference compared to the pump boards? greetings from austria :)
@leo-stief Жыл бұрын
Hey, I'm used to winging on the Hipe in 110 l so I'm a bit biased... I Feel like it takes noticeably more energy to pump it compared to my pump Boards, however, it doesn't take too much energy so it's still pretty makeable to pump it around. But I don't know if I would give the same answer if I had tried it against a solid Prone Board... So in summary it steals energy but still works pretty good. Greetings :)

Just a word of advice on surfing etiquette. I have been surfing over 40 years, and one of the unwritten rules is don't go in front of a surfer who is riding a wave (like shown at 04:20). This is considered extremely rude and could lead to conflict in the water. Of course we would like peace in the water and for everyone to have a good time. Also, we want foil riders to be welcome to share the waves. There are many more rules of surfing etiquette but I don't wish to list them all.

Hi Jerome, but he is just passing in front of the surfer and ist not trying to catch his wave. The distance is hard to calculate because of the wideangle Lens, but If you are paddling out as a Surfer in a shifting beachbreak, you can be in the same position. I agree that its better to avoid this Situation, but to call it rude is too hard for this situation. Hang loose

I didn't have real surf experience prior to this and I wish I would have had some more Knowledge about what is okay to do in the waves! I'm completely on your page with the clip in Minute 4:20, it should never get that close and I was pretty overwhelmed in the situation as I didn't think he would get close to me so fast! I think one major problem was that I went in at a spot where there were already quite some surfers (Still about 1-hour drive in search of empty small wave spots...) And for the next Prone Holiday, I will definitely search for proper Foiling Spots before booking the flight. I Might make another Video with the rest of my Prone Footage also talking about spot selection as I do now realize that crowded Breakes are no place Beginner Prone Foilers should surf!

@@thomasmitbrod2379 Maybe rude is too strong a word as it was not intentional. It is still bad etiquette. Just as stepping on someones imaginary putting line on the golf green, or causing a surfer that is riding to change their path to avoid you. There are unwritten rules of surfing and how will you know unless someone tells you? It's not the end of the world, I was just pointing it out.
