There's no such thing as "New" media, it's a myth people wanna push to make you think they're different. It's just media reskinned on some different platforms. PMS and all other sports related shows still have segments, they've got their talking points. It's just on youtube. Look at the ones that are popping off. It's the people making click bait statements meant to draw eyes and be entertaining. As for the proliferation of sports adjacent and sports focused podcasts, the pioneer was actually Joe Rogan. Helps if it's in moderation instead of being the main event, secondary event, the opener, the closer and everything in between. You can debate without being disrespectful and outrageous. I think that style was good for feeding hatred and it made a lot of money for a hot minute but it (finally) got played out. There's people out there who both debate and discuss. I like the dynamic because it at least has the potential to shine light on things you may not have been aware of or at least can allow you to glean insight in regards to alternative perspectives.
