I love worm fishing too. It was the Texas Rigged worm that caught my first 5lber and then my PB 6lb 6oz Largemouth years later. I'm usually throwing a Zoom Ole Monster or Magnum Ole Monster and my other go to worm is the Man's Jelly Worms.

Randy I used to fish a lot of club tournaments back in the 80’s and 90’s and my go to lure for getting in the money was the Culprit worm like this in Tequila Sunrise with green flake. I had such success with them I was buying them by the pound from a bulk vendor. These worms are awesome rigged on 3/16 ounce weight and 3/0 offset hook........

The blue/red ice color is great on spotted bass. I’m not right on color name but it’s a culprit. I love the gold and silver culprits as well. I also love the old ones with a rattle pocket in them.I fish that purple (tequila sunrise) all the time

Yes sir, that’s the only bait and set up my uncle who taught me how bass fish in Fl ,in the 90’s Tequila with green flake was hot when it came out from Culprit worms,and Black grape with green flakes where a little older but still good.He was a hammer with that set up before braided line came out.

You're right on it again Randy! I fished a small lake last week and couldn't get bit topwater, flipping craw or jig. Ended up catching 25 on a small Texas rigged finesse worm, weightless with a 2/0 hook. Craziest day of fishing I've ever had!

Here's a BIG tip for you people. I got this out of a Mississippi dude who caught big bass with it. Now, I catch big bass with it. I almost hate to give the secret away, but since I'm retired now, I guess this is your lucky day! I've been broken off several times with this bait and a double digit bass on the hook. Here we go! Go buy a package of the longest worms you can find. I found some 12" salty worms in a couple different colors! I like motor oil color. What you do is splice two together with super glue. Make sure the splice is flat and you will have only one tail, naturally. I used a 5/16 weight and a 5/0 hook. Throw the bait onto the bank in areas where you have cabbage (slang for moss, etc. ). Next slowly bring the worm off the bank and down through the cabbage. This works great where you have deeper water near by. If you get a thump, you better really set the hook. It will not be a small bass. One of my buddies laughed when he saw my rig. He fished BASS and FLW events. BUT, when he saw me fighting the bass, he said it was the largest bass he had ever seen that was hooked. There you have it. My contribution to your PB!!

Gooood video!!! I still don’t peg my worms or creature baits, I like the separation as well! Most guys are using bobber stoppers and the peg-its. I’ve tried telling them in the boat NOT to peg it, bcuz its a more natural presentation. And, u nailed it, it makes it look like the worm is chasing something, so its a competitive strike! 👍😃🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣

Texas rigged curly tail worms are always rigged and ready for both my 13 year old son and I in Missouri. I attended a BASS seminar about 20 years ago. Woo Daves was one of the speakers. He said if he could only have 1 lure/setup to fish anywhere in the country, it would be a black 6" curly tail worm texas rigged, and carry a toothpick to peg it if necessary. Sound advice then and now. This has quickly become my sons confidence lure.

Great video guys! Ya know, when I was younger I couldnt stand fishing a plastic worm and now they are my go to favorite lure. This video was a home run! Also, to address a few comments about Jonny's plug for supporting him by using his Tackle Warehouse affiliate link........any interruption in a video is annoying, but Ive watched videos where there is a commercial every 45 to 60 seconds and that is almost unbearable. You have to remember, for these guys to put out the quality content that they do they have to make money somehow. So, would you rather have 1 or 2 plugs for a Tackle Warehouse affiliate link or 50 commercials? Im not crazy about the click bait titles saying things that the pros dont want you to know thing though. This channel is of such good quality and Randy and Jonny are of such good quality that the click bait titles are not necessary. Im not slamming you guys, Jonny or Randy, this is just a suggestion/observation. Im gonna watch everything you put out regardless because I love your channel. Lol!!! Great work guys, keep it up and God bless you both! Love your content!!!!!!!!!

How/When do you decide on a worm versus a jig?
@ejzabojnik8344 жыл бұрын
If the fish will bite the jig on the lake, pond, or river you are fishing that would be my first choice, if they are biting it, because usually they will be bigger fish. Sometimes they just don't want the jig and then I will go to the worm in different styles and colors to determine what they like best. For my techniques I will use them on a Carolina rig, a Tx. rig, and a Drop shot. In the spring or any time I am fishing shallow water I will also fish them weightless or wacky style.

What other combo setups are there when it comes to baitcasters. I know flippin stick is one set-up.
@mikegiles51624 жыл бұрын
It doesn't end. If I had to pick 3, I'd have a 7'MH cranking rod with a reel with 12lb test, a flipping set up, and a 7'2MH graphite rod with 15lb flouro. Can get a lot done with those 3 and a spinning rod or 2
@aleckrug15544 жыл бұрын
@@mikegiles5162 what makes a flippin stick a flippin stick? Extra heavy? Cuz I flip with all my sticks even spinning rods and 16th oz bullet weights.
@mikegiles51624 жыл бұрын
I've done the same thing. We all have when we didnt have the equipment to do it. For me a flipping stick is a7/7'4/7'6 rod with a fast tip and heavy action. It's the "come hither" rod, so when I flip into a Bush and one eats it, I know I have the power in the rod to torque that fish out of the brush. The rod also allows you to use 20 or 25lb test so your line doesn't get as banged up in the brush
@aleckrug15544 жыл бұрын
@@mikegiles5162 lol I have 40lb braid on a medium extra fast. And 50 on a MH fast. I wanted to put 20 or 25 on the first one but only had 40. What kind of line do you use for flipping
@mikegiles51624 жыл бұрын
If the water is really dirty or the fish get no pressure, braid is great. And I throw braid on my top water rod, but I always go 20lb flouro on mine unless I need heavier because of rocks or barnacles on poles. You can honestly get by with 15 in most situations and it's less visible to the fish. But if you're fishing around 8lb fish a lot, I'd have a minimum of 20. Lighter line let's lures fall and move more naturally and has less drag. But you cant yank a 10lb fish out of a brush pile on 8lb test very well

I have to laugh when you guys say something looks unnatural. How many actual baits look natural? A bobber stop looks unnatural? Come on Randy! A 1/4 ounce bullet weight looks natural? A bobber stop might be 1/8 of an inch not a 1/4. Maybe you don't like using them but the little bobber stop doesn't look any more unnatural than the rest of the rig.
