It's so incredibly shortsighted and ham-fisted of KZbin to prevent you from monetizing your videos about sex workers. This is not objectification. You are giving a voice to people who most of society ignores and dismisses. I greatly respect your decision to keep posting these videos anyway, because they're important, and in spite of not recouping the costs of making them. Keep up the great work, Mark.

You are correct about parents influencing their children's lives but on the same hand it comes down to having a role model with a positive influence around kids even if the parents are not the greatest parents in the world or even on the block. I had two shitty parents and the adults on my mom and dad's side were terrible also except my grandma and grandpa on my mom's side who made sure that me and my brother didn't starve and had school clothes. Growing up me and my brother were heading down a dark path after my dad disappeared from our lives when I was 8 years old. My mom married a great guy when I was in 8th grade but my stepdad had a hard time connecting with me and my brother and this new man in my life helped me settle down a little bit. I got lucky and in my freshman year of high school found two teachers/coaches that I actually respected and that I didn't tell to go fuck themselves when I got into trouble which was quite often. These /teachers/coaches and somewhat my stepdad all knew that I was a severe problem child and took an interest in my every day life and the teachers/coaches would tell me daily where I messed up and where I did good or when I was right in a conflict that would happen damn near daily in my life. By my senior year in high school I was on the right path thanks to these teachers/coaches and my stepdad. I ended up going into the military which built onto the self discipline that the coaches instilled into me over a 3 to 4 year period. I got married after my 4 years in the military. I had 4 kids whom all have grown into fine men and women and after all of the turmoil in my life I can say that I did pretty good with my life but my brother not so much as my brother got into drugs and floating around to sleep on his friend's couches until he was forced into getting a job at age 28. My brother was electrocuted and died at age 38 and in his words he lived a life of agony. Everyone can be a role model or positive influence on the upcoming generations IF they too have their heads screwed on straight but it is much easier to work with kids that had two good parents even though some kids/people with two great parents go down the wrong path of life

Mark, i feel like you have come a long way with your interviews. Your ability to sit and listen, pause, let them speak when they need to and not rush to the next question or to fill the silence, i feel that is really powerful. I think silence allows us to process, allows them the space to feel the truth and the weight of what they just shared. Thank you for that

My heart goes out to this young woman. It's not just her story, as it is a common narrative for young people in this lifestyle., but more so her tone, demeanor and even her posture shows the pain she's trying to deal with. So defeated so young. Her losses are too great for a person to handle on their own. Especially at her age. I know that she chose this life like many others have (including her mother), but hearing and seeing her tell her story is especially sad.

She’s a sad broken girl. Her thoughts are so twisted and delusional. I’m sure it’s based on a coping mechanism. She needs so much intensive therapy to really come to terms with her own life’s reality and her past and present decisions. She has a good heart but is so messed up emotionally. Unless someone intervenes and she wants to make changes within herself, she’ll just become another lost soul on this planet that no one will notice or care about. Mark, I hope you can at least try and get her help. This is the first time I’m writing a comment based on all the interviews I’ve watched. I think she is very caught up in her own head in my opinion: until her looks fade she’ll feed on her ego and intentions, only to find herself lost wandering in her own mind, receiving carnal and worldly rewards (at the permission/ regulation of her pimp). Until she realizes that “key” is in plain sight as she wanders around in her head, this is her life-path she’s chosen (albeit one that is not socially accepted on the whole). Mark can offer her locations to seek therapy but beyond that she has to have the intent, motivation, and maturity to see beyond her current aspirations in order to break or divert from her current lifestyle. I only hope the best for you, Cheyanne; ambitious soul.

YET youtube will HAPPILY monetise channels of men, encouraging other men to go to countries (thailand, phillipines, etc) which have sex industries, and inform them how to solicit women there - women who will feel and hurt like the people you portray in such a raw manner. Thr hypocrisy is galling. As someone who works in the CJS, I can say your work Mark is awesome, your subjects riveting and my heart humbled. It rips away the stereotypes, beliefs and debasement many men and women hold towards these women and men. I used be a psychiatrist at the women’s state prison here in Chino, CA. Most of my patients had children on the outside-some they had lost complete custody of bc the length of their sentence or they had lost them sometime along the treacherous path they had been not living-but surviving on before coming to prison. A few still had custody, their kids were with a family member and although we encouraged continuous visits (there is a playground in the visitation area), it was ultimately up to the family members to bring the kids which posed its own challenges. One day a patient of mine told me something that has long stayed w/ me. She hadn’t seen her son since he was a toddler-he had been adopted & she’d had no contact w/ him. He had recently turned 18 + not only found her but came to visit her. He said he didn’t care that she was behind bars, she would always be his mother. After that, I encouraged all of patients w/ children on the outside who they still had custody of to write to their children at least once a week, as painful as it was to be reminded of their reality. “Everyone mothers in their own way. Right now, this is your way to be a mother.” To those who had lost custody, I suggested starting a journal for their kids, writing to them daily in it-their hopes, their feelings, life lessons bc “some day, your child will find their way back to you bc we all have just one mother, and all of them make mistakes.” Cheyenne, your kids will find you when they can. (Ps. I’m also a reproductive psychiatrist (specialize in peripartum)-I’m here if you need me or can help connect you w/ another reproductive psychiatrist.

Mark...I watch your videos and have such a range of emotions. I don't know how you have the emotional strength to do this without it negatively affecting your life. Maybe it does. You are a very good interviewer - compassionate, caring, trustworthy, supportive and non-judgmental of the people who pour out their lives to you. You are able to reach people in a way that many therapists and mental health professionals would envy. I'm sure that many of your subjects have a therapeutic experience during and after your sessions with them. I know you pay them for their time and provide financial support to a number of them but, my guess is that many walk away with much more than just the money. This one is genuinely perplexing…. She claims to have had a great life yet ended up working full time on fig st by her mid twenties??? I know people hide things and bury the truth of their pain through the careful editing of their life story but this girl seemed so genuine and happy when talking about her past. That’s what’s so perplexing. I see people in the comments say, teenagers rebel and run away and make risky choices all the time, it could happen, and I agree with that-but I also believe that someone who had a stable upbringing doesn’t usually end up on fig street without their kids and family getting shot by thugs. Whatever happened that you’re not sharing-that’s ok. We’re all rooting for you Cheyenne. I hope you’re reunited with your kids and family soon. Love from Chicago.

A great upbringing doesn't mean a great transition into adulthood. Sometimes people are handed everything on a silver platter, as kids and teens, and then the real world smacks them in the face and they've been done a disservice not being taught how to make their own way, or even how the world really works. It can be devastating when you're raised as the center of one or two people's world (parents, typically), and then to be out in the actual reality of society and realize that you don't really matter to anyone.

Thank you Mark for this public service. I've been watching your videos for a long time. The numbers of these lives of people who live like this says a lot about the system we live in. It's sad and depressing. Most of the people you interview who work the street tell the same story over and over. They seem to grapple with coloring the danger and degradation in a positive light so they can accept it. This is horrifying that this woman has been shot twice and has lost her kids. This is important work that you do, helping to keep these visions that we try to avoid in our consciousness.

These videos highlight the US being a 3rd World country in some respects. U have no social welfare system worth the name and hence no safety net for e.g. schoolgirls who become pregnant. Cheyenne has no future with her pimp and needs to get out of crime (which sex work is in the US) and find a normal job. Porn acting would be better than what she currently does and would make a pimp completely superfluous. They're scum and get five years here in central Europe when caught. Most are, as any of their girls only need file an accusation against their pimp with the local cops.

Here's what I've gathered by listening to these girls talk: they religiously wear rubbers with all the men they hook. That's practically a requirement of the trade to prevent them from getting STDs. They differentiate "hooker sex" (with rubber) from "pimp sex" (without rubber). All these pimps have sex with the girls they collect money from. Wearing/not wearing a rubber is how they differentiate working sex from voluntary emotional partner sex.

She experienced trauma in her childhood simply by knowing that her mother abandoned her for drugs. I believe that she did have a great childhood. Her father and stepmom tried to make it as normal as possible but the damage was already planted. Children long for their parents love, no matter how messed up they are. So now, she’s repeating the cycle. She’s doing exactly what her mother did to her, to her own children. The one thing I do question is the cause of death for her third child. I actually believe that she abandoned the child alive at the hospital and created a story to go along with it. Those were tears of shame not grief. She has chosen her path and she will die by the streets if she doesn’t get therapy.

I've been subscribed to Mark and this channel since I found it in 2020. I admire his effort and consistency. However something I was waiting for the ENTIRE video (that never happened), and something that I noticed lacks in many other interviews, is the absence of probing into her future goals, hopes, dreams. She mentioned early on she has dreams for herself and later said she used to run a business, and also said one big reason she continues with tricking is bc in a way she is her own boss. She implied that one dream is being reunited with her children in the future, but perhaps she has others. - maybe with business, etc. either way, we wouldn't know, because it wasn't asked. And more importantly than us not knowing is that she missed an opportunity to think BEYOND what her life is now. We did not provide the opportunity to try connect new dots, the opportunity to dream and wonder about the possibility that There IS a way to make a decent income that is safe where you have some autonomy over what you do - the crowd she's in likely does not let her entertain this potential and does not help ask questions for her to connect the dots. THUS, she thinks tricking is the most reasonable lifestyle for her. This is just my opinion, but when our focus is so much on "drugs? Abusive childhood?" this offered to the interviewee, this perpetuates the echo chamber of trauma/narrative these folks are all to familiar with, just so we can feel sorry and empathetic for an hour. It becomes like trauma porn.

Psychological diagnosis is largely defined in order to prescribe billion dollar profit inducing pharmaceutical drugs. The reality is, that life is up and down, thats the reality, and some of us have more dramatic circumstances, and so we feel this more than others. And then we tend to create circumstances with more possibilities to feel this. Fyi - Bipolar diagnosis and drugs is extremely harmful to society😢 right now. Women like Cheyenne need guidance in processing their trauma, so they can learn how to ride the waves. The big problem now for the people with extra passion, is that the pharmaceutical industry is taking advantage of people with childhood trauma by medicating them with their drugs, making huge profits, and robbing their soul of the evolutionary work that needs to be done.
