Bilt Hamber Atom Mac
In2detailing (discount code "forensic" for 10%)
tinyurl.com/y8...
atom-mac is a migratory and contact corrosion inhibitor that is diluted in water before use. It provides protection against corrosion in both open spaces and hollow voids. The powerful migratory phase corrosion inhibitors are liberated from the product and are carried in vapour phase to form an invisible atomic shield against corrosion of ferrous metal.
How To Use
Dilute from 2 - 5% in water and spray on surfaces to be protected. Atomise onto brakes discs and surfaces after washing the vehicles and allow to dry (use 1-2% in water on motorcycles and bicycles and 5% on cars with disc brakes). Atomise into voids to protect interior surfaces at a rate of 2ml (of neat product) per litre of space. atom-mac should be diluted to 2- 5% to neutralise corrosive winter road salt and sprayed liberally on vehicle undersides this rate also provides invisible protection to bicycles, machinery tools and equipment. To use post deox C or GEL, or blast cleaning treatment 2% added to the rinse water is sufficient to eliminate flash corrosion and protect the treated item. Sealing in plastic bag or container traps the migrating corrosion inhibitors and adds further protection. atom-mac can be used in pressure washers and can be applied to the entire underside where it will neutralise road salt and emit power corrosion inhibitors, it should be applied at the end of each wash. Even wet cars can be put into storage allowing the migratory inhibitors to protect the entire vehicle. Aim for 2% atom-mac strength from the pressure washer nozzle.

Another great video by the Forensic Detail Channel! This channel is without a doubt one of the best channels on KZbin that does VEHICLE DETAILING related videos. All the information presented is USEFUL! It's not highlighting a detail job, it's talking about detailing products and giving a good honest review of what the product will do.

Very interesting. I like the idea of keeping it to hand and when I’m under the car changing bushes or brake pads etc I can just spray this in and around everywhere. Anything that helps keep my car rust free is great. I drive a ford and I live in the highlands of Scotland. Anything that prevents rust is great!

Anyone who has M Performance Brakes needs this in their arsenal. I spray my discs liberally after rinsing my wheels cleaner off and this helps reduce the brake dust massively. Great vid John! I used this in a bit different way. I bought set of used suspension arms for my car to fit them with poly bushes, stripped them down to bare metal including inside (dunk them in citric acid solution) and before painting I dunk them again this time in Atom-Mac solution (for ca. 20 minutes). Thing is that i didn't have time for painting right away, so I left everything for a month just sitting there in a box. There was no flash corrosion or any rust specs anywhere, so I painted over it (with proper paint prep) and all came out great. I still have half of a bucket of that thing sitting on my balcony ready to use! fantastic stuff.

Great review as always. This product needs applying after every wash its not a long term protection product like dynex UC . Best used in a garden sprayer bottle with long wand to access under wheel arches and underside. I have the litre bottle on stand by for my new car arrival . Only time will tell if it does what it says on the tin. Had a test run on my old car and it does stop brake disc flash corrosion after washing 👍

I asked Pete from Bilt Hamber quite a few questions regarding this product. He said in exposed areas it will wash off fairly quickly and is not designed to be a long lasting product and needs to be reapplied regularly. it's more for quick corrosion prevention, say after driving on wet roads and then putting the car into storage. However, if you can get it into box sections and enclosed areas the protection will be longer lasting. I have a classic car and have this mixed in a big 6lt pressure sprayer and spray all the sills and known problem areas regularly during the winter months. With a 6lt sprayer you can also stick the lance under the car and treat the floorplan without having to get underneath. I believe 'migratory' is more to do with how the inhibitor can travel rather thanit penetrating the metal. Pete also said that the product will help slow corrosion that's already started and will also stop bare alloy from oxidizing.

thanks for the movie. I also use this product, at first little to no result and still rust on the disc. My experience is that the more you use this product the better it will work, it actually penetrates the brake disc. For best effect, spray directly as soon as you have cleaned the rim, so do not continue with the other rims first.

@@ForensicDetailing yes indeed, it prevents the wet brake disc from getting rusty. I always had that problem. One drive and everything brown with rust, looked awful. So now solved with this product. but at first it didn't do much on my brake disc, now that I've been using it longer it's perfect, it will really penetrate the metal apparently.

Somewhat easy way to check it is spray it on your brake discs after rinsing them off and seeing how much you get rusting compared to an untreated brake disc. I have tried this and it doesn't totally prevent the oxidation on the discs you get light rusting on the surface compared to a slightly more darker rusting on untreated surface.

so if you want to convert rust or treat rust. you can use hydrate 80. but if you wash a car and you want to inhibit the rust from forming you can plaster it in Atom mac. rust treatment and rust prevention are sort of different. treatment converts the iron oxide to an alternative oxide. prevention, transfers a cationic water based inhibitor into the steel or iron and it inhibits the formation of the oxide.

What's Bilt Hambers rust treatment product? Stone chips on the bonnet have turned to unsightly rust. Very short term fix is fallout remover and the ideal solution is a new paint job but there is surely a product available to treat rust. Hammerite Kurust turns things blue so that's not ideal.

I have brand new cross drilled 2 piece rotors and bare unpainted calipers...could I mix this up in say a 10-20% and soak them for a day before painting the caliper and installing both items?
@ForensicDetailing
@ForensicDetailing 5 жыл бұрын
I wouldnt do that Chango. Its not designed for pre-paint treatment no. I would use an appropriate primer. off the top of my head I think some of the high temp caliber paints that come in rattle cans do offer a high temp primer. You would use this product after washing your car to inhibit corrossion on the rotors. Ill give you a huge tip. Some wash detergents (prewashes and shampoo's) actually promote oxsidisation and therefore rusting. And actually some of the safest mildest shampoo for paintwork cleaning, will light up your rotors like a christmas tree and trigger rust forming. Use bilt hamber auto foam to prewash your rotors and brake calipers and it will inhibit rust. I will show you this soon in a video on snow foams. In factor generally speaking if you hate rust, there is no better company whos products you should be using anywhere on earth better than bilt hamber for this. so prewash with auto foam. contact was with auto wash. And spray the rotors with Atomax at the recomended concentration and dry off excess (air brow is elite for this). its a real hard battle to win keeping your rotors and calipers rust free. I had already lost that battle with the 140 because it was bought second had with crusty discs. once your new components are installed you can then try and win the battle of the crusty rust :) But the bad news is it just takes one hit with the wrong typre of detergent on brake discs to trigger it. of coarse its not a problem on the flat bit the brake pad will clear off but its all around the edges and the hub sections and the brake caliper itself when its unpainted. on my gold they look mega crap all covered in surface rust.

I love Bilt Hamber stuff. My only concern is that on any car over a couple of years old or not recently restored, it’s likely to be too late. This winter I will be having the panels off my old Rover P6 and will be using the Bilt Hamber wax products on all the wheel arches, underside and hidden panels. I may take a look at my newer cars to se if they are suitable for a product of this type. If it’s Bilt Hamber, you know it’s good.

possibly mate. If components have rust on them then this product cannot sort that, although Im guessing they will still help stop it spreading. so yer ideally a new car where all the ferrous components are not corroded is the dream scenario. But its so damn cheap and quick to apply. maybe its something thats worth having and using even on older cars. Not sure, but the fact its so damn cheap means it wont cost a lot to find out.

The problem I see with this is that it's only useful with new stuff as give the underside of a car a couple of years (Even one year) and it's too late. ACF50 is the business. You can buy it in a a bulk bottle rather aerosol and stick it in a trigger spray or pump bottle. It is expensive mind but is truly effective. 365 is is a total waste of time as far as long term protection is concerned as is GT85.

Hi John where I’ve used decon shampoo my brake discs centres have rusty ridges. Any thoughts on removing and protecting against rust moving forwards. Obviously where the pads touch the discs during braking it clears itself?
@ForensicDetailing
@ForensicDetailing 3 жыл бұрын
this is more because brake disc manuafacturers dont want to pay to put proper paint on the edges and hub sections, they either put nothing or a cheap heat proof primer paint that the rust corrodes through. so if you want to go hard core mode take the wheel off and sand off the rust, treat it, and paint it properly with VHT primers and top coat. After this use surfex HD to clean and after finishing cleaning treat with atom mac. but its a LOT of hassel. I just tend to accept most rotors will rust a bit.

How does it compare with Fluid Film (linseed based)? I've used it on my 22+ year old truck and the underside still looks new-ish.
@ForensicDetailing

its sort of different chemically. at least this is a water based concentrate. fluid film looks like its a lubricant and rust preventer in one which usually means its got mineral oil or something in it. I think at least not too sure.

Hmmm interesting. How would this compare to Hyde's Serum Rustopper for preventing flash rust to brake discs, if used after every wash?
@ForensicDetailing
@ForensicDetailing 6 жыл бұрын
hey Ali, looks like a very similiar product. without being disrespectfull to hyde, you are paying 13.95 for 500ml of the hyde product at a ready to use concentration.. With Atom mac you can pay 14.95 and get around 10 litres, (500ml will cost you around 75p versus hydes 13.95) So the Hyde product is about 20 times more expensive. I talked about this value for money in the video. This is why BH are cool.
@alim9489
@alim9489 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your reply. I have been using Hydes but even after loads of product there is still flash rusting on the notorious BMW brake discs. I don't fancy turning my car on and off for brief periods especially in the winter and going back and forth to dry the brake discs. So hopefully this product will be helpful and a ton cheaper. Thanks again

@ForensicDetailing
@ForensicDetailing 6 жыл бұрын
they do, their whole range is quite rust conscious avoiding anything caustic but the products are still very potent. the shampoo probably contains tiny amounts though, this product is probably just pure rust inhibtor judging by how they get you to dilute it.

I’m guessing this is very similar to ACF50 in the way it works?
@richardcollins586
@richardcollins586 6 жыл бұрын
altypeRR interesting question, I would say this product is more water based and probably easier to apply. ACF50 you have heat up before you apply, especially through a spray gun on a compressor. I’ll get this product and give it a go, as I’m a car driver, though my passion is motorbikes and this time of year it’s winter prep time for the bike. With ACF50 you can’t use it on brake discs, though this product you can.

u can use like any lubricant spray like white grease that comes in cane and u can spray on chassis frame and on suspension plus u can spray inside of door frame bcz that's where lot of water collects and rust begin and plus u can use petroleum jelly or any mineral oil and baby oil just put in spray bottle and spray good amount before winter and every year treat ur vehicle well and wash underneath of vehicle and never use the undercoating on ur vehicle bcz its holds moisture and that creates rust

My brake disk hubs have got a very light surface rust on (cars a year old) I reckon it would come off with a light sand, do you think this stuff would keep the rust at bay for something that gets so hot? I’m going to put the winter wheels on soon so would be a good opportunity to do it. I was thinking about painting them.

Question: I recently spent an hour cleaning my wheels before washing my car. Since I gave it a rinse with demineralised water I wasn't very thorough on drying the wheels. When I drove my car home I noticed a huge mess on my front wheels. It rubbed off all the corrosion which occurs within an hour after cleaning my wheels on the brake discs. It rubbed off and made a huge mess with the water what was still inside the barrel of the wheel. Can this shampoo prevent my brake discs from rusting immideatly after washing? This would be a reason to buy it over the geyon bath essence. If not so, does anyone know a product which is save on the brakes that prevents rust? Stumpled across Hyde's Rustopper but I want something similar I can buy in Europe without a hassle.
@ForensicDetailing

a lot of PH neutral soaps will trigger corrosion and oxsidation in steel. the industry wont like me telling you this but its true. An alkaline pre wash and an alkaline shampoo will actually inhibit corrosion (have a watch of "the best snow foam video" to see this). If you care abour rust and corrosion. then there is no brand better than bilt hamber. They got started in car products with their rust treatment products. Yes bilt hamber can stop brake rotors or disc coroding. However if your spraying or using a product on the brake discs that triggers oxidsation and corrosion. a water based rust inhibitor might not be strong enough to stop it (it will help though)... In short. Use auto foam , auto wash, and surfex HD to clean your car. Surfex HD as a wheel cleaner is cool (see video I have coming soon). note fallout removers will light up brake discs with rust oxidation etc...
