When i was 7, I was on this ride and it broke down. We were removed from the ride at the top and lead down through the cast member exit and saw the basketball court.

I'm glad you did this one on the Matterhorn because it's my favorite ride there even though it's a pretty rough ride I'm drawn to it because of it's theming and the fact that it is a landmark in track design. Matterhorn has always been and always will be my absolute favorite since the first time I wrote it in 1964! I go two or three times a year and always ride the Matterhorn I have watched it change over the years and still it is my favorite forever!!

fantasyland side is almost 100' longer. Tinkerbell has a tiny breakroom near the basketball rim for her to rest before heading up to the peak and ziplining to the castle. the trees growing on the mountain have a special mix of soil that keeps them from growing too quickly. There are numerous official climbing routes on the mountain that used to be climbed regularly by cast members some as difficult as 5.10 grade

One little factoid I've always loved about the Matterhorn is that the Swiss Alps portion of the Storybook Land align with the Matterhorn to make it look like it's towering over the little village.

Another fun fact on the Matterhorn is that inside towards to top there is a half court basketball court.I was told by a cast member that the climbers shoot hoops on their breaks.......Love your videos!

You mentioned the basketball court but not that you used to be able to 'fly' through the mountain on the skyway? That was the coolest part. Plus the Skyway was built in Switzerland and the matterhorn was basically built around it. Despite what people think the Skyway ended up closing because of the Matterhorn and metal fatigue. Also Harold was around then... you heard him as you passed through the mountain and passed the watterfall.

Everyone seems to like the A-side (Subs), but I actually prefer B-side (Alice). It may lack the dip of A-side, but I like the overall ride experience better. And the dip isn't that great anyway, so I don't miss it. Try them back to back when the lines aren't that long and see which is better.
