Their rational side of their brain (if they can access it) will tell them that sony doesn't create ANY peice of hardware inside the ps5 pro. They must outsource every single component elsewhere. Now factor in the r&d development, as well as having specific RT technologies and upscaling technologies not even found in existing RDNA 3 gpus, the overall cost of things, $700 for this is actually not really crazy. Not to mention, it's not like they have stopped selling the original console! Can't afford the pro? Get the base. Should Nvidia charge less for the 4090? Maybe. But if you can't afford that, you can buy the 4060. People are ridiculous and want top of the line for budget price. Not remotely close to reality.

Problems with the PS5 Pro. 1. Mid-gen refreshes are not necessary. The XBOX One and PS4 were underpowered consoles built with off-the-shelf parts to save money and guarantee profit on consoles sold at or near launch. The PS4 Pro and XBOX One X were what we were SUPPOSED to get instead of the XBOX One and PS4. 2. I have yet to hear anyone either in person or online that owns a PS5 complain AT ALL about the graphics or performance. NO ONE........ The _consumer_ is supposed to have the loudest voice. Not the _developers._ Anyone that cannot achieve their "artistic vision" with a console as powerful as the PS5 which developers haven't even come anywhere close to maxing out needs to go find a different career because clearly they are not qualified to do this. If Nintendo can achieve their "artistic vision" with hardware that is over a decade old and only somewhere north of the 7th gen in terms of raw horsepower, developers should have no trouble with the PS5 which they haven't even scratched the surface with yet. 3. *NOTHING* Sony has shown warrants a consumer dropping $700 for a console, $80 for a disc drive, $30 for a stand, PLUS TAX. If you don't already have any PS5 games, tack on another $70 for *ONE* AAA game that justifies the reasoning or purpose for the PS5 Pro to exist, and you are at, or around $930 USD. Nah, bruh. You can miss me with this.

Every other gen of consoles, mid run you'd begin seeing new games struggle or hiccup occasionally because the devs had maxed out the potential they had until they made pro equivalents. This is for people that want that fedility mode but running at 60fps as opposed to 30 maybe with some other bells and whistles like improved lighting/ray tracing. It's for the enthusist. Not a lot of people are gonna care and are perfectly happy with their base ps5, that's fine, but some of us want the whole 9 yards without having to constantly choose between better visuals or framerates. This machine will blur those lines. Is that worth $700? Well, that's up to you to decide..

No increase in fps. It just enables both 60fps mode and resolution mode simultaneously. If it say added 60fps to resolution mode and had the option for standard resolution but at an increased 120fps, I couldn't argue it's a Pro. But at as, it's just an amateur.

I think with hindsight, a PS5 Pro would have made sense for FF7 Rebirth since performance mode was pretty underwhelming. However, I'm already finished with Rebirth. That benefit is gone now. And every other game I've played has run great on a base PS5

Everyone can have their opinion on this console I’m both a PC and PS5 owner and I will be upgrading to the Pro, the reason is I have an amazing top spec 4k TV and want to make the most out of my current set up. If I sell my current console the upgrade cost is only going to be an extra £399. I don’t see why people are complaining even if it isn’t a huge increase in performance, the smaller details which will make me feel even more immersed within the game is definitely worth the extra £. If you can’t afford it then don’t buy it

I’ll say it everywhere, I don’t care. I think we need to realize that the PS5 Pro is the Pro model of the PS5. You have to think of it as a MacBook vs a MacBook Pro. It is an enhanced PS5 experience for the enthusiast who wants what it offers. It’s not the PS6. You have the PS5 at $500 and the PS5 Pro at $700. It’s a pricey console, but it’s not for everyone. A lot of channels that got hands on are impressed with it, but they have also said it’s not necessarily for everyone. They are pitching 4K 120hz and even 8K which is not for everyone. Not everyone has 4k 120Hz TVs. Literally no one has 8K, so it’s just something where you need to think “is this for me?”. I mean, not everyone is buying a 4090, that’s a GPU for people who need it or the enthusiast who really wants it. This is a console for the enthusiast who really wants it and can utilize it. If the PS6 is $700 then 100% we riot. That’s crazy for a base console, but this is a Pro model offering an enhanced experience that realistically not everyone will benefit from, so idk. There’s a bit more nuance to this conversation. Fuck Sony for the disc drive and stand though. That’s bullshit and they are greedy AF for that.

The problem with the Pro has been terrible messaging. People seem to like it once they get their hands on it, which means that the marketing has dropped the ball heavily. I really wish they had a driver- level FPS unlock feature on the Pro. Us with VRR TVs want to use it to the max- something that I can obviously do on PC.

This is EXTREMELY common in journalism. Especially with new products that can’t just be sent out in the wild. If you trust the reviewer and the fact they disclosed the trip was comped then you gotta just accept this is how the industry works. We will obviously get more first hand experience when it’s on sale for anyone to buy this is just an early hands on. Maybe getting flown out and put up for an invite only event made you forget how expensive $700 is To put it in perspective. The PS4 pro was $399 when it launched, and it came with a disc drive. Now, the PS5 pro is $699, without the disc drive, and without the stand. If you want the disc drive, that is an eye watering total of $779 At that price you are in striking distance of building a PC that will stomp the shit out of the PS5 pro. There is no context where that price is acceptable.

Please don’t allow $700 consoles exist. Don’t give Sony the excuse to price the ps6 at $800 - $900. Money talks. Also, considering how companies have been mishandling and almost abusing digital “ownership”. Sony literally raised the price of its controllers and the baseline ps5 console 4 years into its cycle. With that being said I personally do believe the ps5 pro is a nice console and I do like the improvements it brings. I’ve been wanting it ever since it seemed like devs weren’t really utilizing all the power of these next gen consoles, but buying into the ps5 pro is going to tell Sony that shipping an expensive console with missing features for $700 is ok, going full digital is ok, pushing past $700 is ok, and etc. I’m not getting this console out of pure principal, and to let Sony know that I do not agree with this especially at this price. I have purchased the ps4 pro and the Xbox one x before so it’s not an issue of whether or not I find the ps5 pro appealing, it’s an issue of it being overpriced and it potentially setting a dangerous new standard for gaming.

People complaining about the ps5 pro and its price are very, very dumb. It's just a more powerful system that lets you run games in 4k quality mode at 60fps - and $699 is totally fair for that. That's a fraction of what a high end gaming pc costs. It's just simply not that expensive. And guess what - it's totally optional, dummies. If you're happy with your 1080 - 1440p games at 60fps on the base ps5, don't buy it. Having the option to buy this more powerful console for a low price is simply not the sort of thing to whine about. It's actually great that we have the option. If you don't already have the ps5 - it makes total sense to buy the ps5 pro instead. If you already have the ps5 and just want to run games in 4k 60fps - buy the ps5 pro. $699 is, quite simply, not expensive for that sort of thing, so it's good to have the option. THe Ps4 pro not only brought 4k but also had a significant boost to cpu. It was a clear upgrade just like the switch 2 will which making them both instantly worth it imo. As a person with every base and pro model including steam decks, switches, ps's and xbox; this is absolutely not a buy for me. I literally bought the ps4 and ps4 pro for around the price as the ps5 pro, think about that for a min. Special editions are a weakness of mine however so I will attempt on that 30th anniversary model.I almost never think the game don't look good enough, but still feel performance wanting.While i'm not anti anyone spending that coin on a gpu boost its not worth it to me and they definitely have quite a upmark on it compared to the base model. i'm a collector so i will be buying it regardless but the fact the cost is so much more than the 4pro really surprised me. i think the console could've been cheaper especially if they're not giving us core components that the ps5 did come with i think the console should've been 550-600 and would've been looked at in a better light even though it still would've been expensive considering today's economy. Though with prices on gpus and pc components now a days i can understand to a point but i still don't have to like it. i myself play pc and ps5 (mainly for exclusives or when i don't wanna boot up my pc ands sit at a desk), with prices of gpus being so high its nice to see another way to play come out that closes the gap a bit more at a more "affordable" entry point if you can't afford a pc build that would give you similar performance on pc which now a days would cost much more the the asking price of the ps5 pro though not all games that come out will be on the ps5 which is the downside. when it comes down to all my mumbling i think the price is a bit much and sony should've done better or atleast gave the console the disk drive it should've come with considering the price its at. it would've made more sense if it had its full core components then not.

And also, many gaming companies don't let influencers release footage of previews of games. This simply may just be an NDA and ir embargo thing due to when and how bigger gamjng companies wants to market their upcoming products. But even with footage, the best experience of knowing if the Pro was for you to either find an opportunity to try it yourself at an event, and or wait until after the Pro releases to read and watch multiple reviews from sources that you and other people trust.
