The issue Sony is trying to solve is that on PS5, you have to make a compromise. The issue isn't choosing modes. The issue is choosing a downside, which sucks. If you get good image quality, you get stuck with 30 fps. If you do 60 fps, you often get stuck with dogshit image quality. The purpose is to help you no longer no longer have to choose a suckass option. You no longer have to make a choice between downsides. You now get both good image quality and 60 fps. They said it as "modes" which wasn't the best communicated, but the point is avoiding having to settle. And that is true, the new performance modes are the new united mode with no compromise. You're getting a great IQ and framerate experience. But developers are allowed to do a different mode that pushes things further beyond. In other words, for people who like the choice, there's always options. But for people who hate having to choose between two downsides, they're now free of that choice. They could have done a better job of explaining it but to me it's clear that's what they were going to, as Cerny did explain the reasoning behind that statement too. Also like, Sony isn't going to stop developers doing ambitious shit they're gonna do. That's not really their place. They're just there to provide a tool to help people escape the shitty compromise we had before. That's it.

Just got the pro today. Was definitely a time saver just transferring basic profile from my ps5 and redownloading the games instead of transferring them (3.5 hours to transfer as opposed to 3 mins and like 20 mins for the first gamedownload). As to whether its worth it upgrading to the pro or not? if youve never owned a ps5, its worth it. If you already own a ps5, not worth it unless you have the spare cash. Playing in fidelity mode at 60 fps instead of the ps5's 30fps is a huge difference though. As to the stand, its pretty stable standing upright without it. I also was able to jimmy my old ps5's stand onto the pro, but you dont need it (unless you get a lot of earthquakes or something. Whether the increase in fps matches the cost, is up to your personal opinion

@@sleepenjoyer-on2dr If I'm not mistaken, many enhanced games running at 60 fps in performance mode on the PS5 Pro look visually identical to the maximum settings at 30 fps on the base PS5. Essentially, you're getting the same high-quality graphics but with a smoother frame rate on the Pro

@undercovermc sure but if you're that keen on frame rates + quality then a pc is much more worth it. In Germany it's almost 1000€ for ps5 pro with disc and stand.... You can build a great pc for that money, not even mentioning all the benefits that come with it, such as sampling music from metal gear solid to use in your breakthrough electronic music album.

I thought the point of the pro was to get fidelity mode at 60 fps minimum. Seeing a 30 fps mode in Spider-Man is not a great look 🤔

That's my point in this too, they even added 2 PRO modes. Which just adds to the mess but it's because as stated a native 4K resolution with RTX on. Actually is very tax heavy on any piece of hardware, add a must 60fps and you have a problem. The 30fps PRO mode should by all accounts look much better than 60fps. The issue here that this PRO line was meant to unify 30 fps and 60fps into one. Instead we back to the same old things again, either you prefer the better resolution at 60fps. Or the even better native 4K resolution with all the reflections turned on at 30fps. Imo all this is a test for the PS6 they just testing the waters, and taking feedback from this it's pretty obvious.

Got the Pro today, connected it to my Panasonic z90a Oled: Last of us 2 looks great, Rise of Ronin slightly better, Spiderman 2 I am not sure, maybe I had to high expectations. Yes it's pricey but I was upgrading from PS4 Pro which has served me well for 8 years - so to me it was a no brainer, the 2TB storage doesn't get mentioned enough - makes a difference. I will probably buy the optical drive, I don't have an issue with not having physical media, the issue that needs to be addressed is the PS Store prices and lack of competition.

Yo love the PS5 Pro but I think it’s not worth it. It doesn’t come with a disc drive, stand and game (Don’t include Astro) it only has %40 performance upgrade. I think I’ll stick with my 2020 PS5

Its not a difference of $150. A PS5 with disc drive that plays DVD, Blurays, 4k Blurays, etc and comes with a stand was $500. Tbis one with a stand and disc drive is $810 plus taxes.

You copy the games onto the SSD and you also start the games from that SSD. No difference in loading times or anything whatsoever so no drawbacks. I've been using one with 1 terabyte since a while now and it's great if you need more storage
