It's compatible with the disc drive they sell separately for the regular PS5 digital edition. It's currently $79.99. So if you really wanted a disc version of the PS5 Pro, you'd have to pay $699.99 plus tax and the $79.99 plus tax to have a disc option for the PS5 Pro. Checking the payment cart, it's $86.84 for the stand alone official disc drive out the cart. $699.99 + $86.84 = $786.83. And that's not including tax on the PS5 Pro. Rounding the numbers up, you're paying damn near 1k for a disc version of the PS5 Pro.

Actually it's not a useless upgrade but at best it's a marginal upgrade. There's a reason it's called PlayStation 5 Pro and not PlayStation 6. They can't make it too powerful above the base PS5.

Even Worse, they have an 80 dollar external disk drive that they're selling as an add on to attach to the side of the console like a tumor. and I repeat, the Disk drive by itself is being sold for 80 dollars. The PS5 original with the Disk drive was 50 dollars more than the one that was digital only. That means that they not only removed the disk drive and are charging more for the PRO than they did for the original PS5 with disk drive, But are selling the disk drive separately for 30 dollars more than what it costed to get the Disk version over the digital only PS5.

They should have told their investors to stuff it, taken the financial hit as punishment, and avoided trying to use the Pro's price to please them. I think the end of E3 really signaled something deeper for Sony. Im gonna be honest this isnt worth getting. 1. Doesn't really change anything besides making it so you dont have to switch between graphics modes and thats literally it. 2. Not very impressed. Especially at that pricepoint. Series X runs most games at 120fps and supports Dolby Vision. (With expensive TV) I've been enjoying the hell out of that right now but still split gaming about 50/50. I've also soured on my PS5 a little recently because The controller is annoying me. I have a tendency to constantly fat finger the touch pad that takes up 60 percent of the face of the controller during intense battle scenarios. (Where "attack" is the Square button) If I hadn't already bought a PS5, sure. But I'm not going to sell my current one for a maximum of 200 bucks to turn around and spend another 500 to upgrade. If it for whatever reason craps out on me, that's another story.

If the stand was included and it had a 2tb or higher capacity SSD, then I would consider it tbh. Being able to not worry about choosing between fidelity or performance modes anymore is a game changer.

Same old CPU as the PS5 OG btw. New games like BG3, Wukong and Dragon's Dogma are CPU intensive so this doesn't bode well for future games lol. Almost double the price of the PS4 pro too lmao. Only thing missing in the announcement was a throwback to the PS3 launch where Sony said to get a 2nd job lol.

Im also from the UK and that price point is insane i converted it to USD and its $929.73. But thats excluding the disk drive and stand which no doubt will be like $1000+. A build with a 4070 or an RX 7900 gre would be around the same price and perform better.

Maximilian Dood had a good idea. IF they were to make it so that with the disk-drive add-on, the system was backwards-compatible with EVERY prior generation of Playstation games all the way back to PS1, then MAYBE it would be worth that price.

By the time you have bought the disk drive extension and the stand it will be about £800-£850 you can literally by a good PC for that which would out perform the console anyway with DLSS which would look better than console upscaling anyway. This definitely isn’t 4k native 60 fps it will still be upscaled

As much as I am a PlayStation fan next to anything else, this is horsesh** and Sony should be ashamed of themselves (of course they won't be) All of this graphical and power improvements should have been in the PS5, you know, the next generation in gaming, from the beginning. Instead, they are baiting people to double dip. The price is ridiculous, especially with no stand included and no disc version, and way too close to the overall release of the PS5 in general. I hope this crash and burns. Sony has gotten too comfortable again crapping on their customers and fans. I enjoy my PS5 disc console and see no reason to take their bait.

for these prices.... buy a PC. If you choose the correct components it will not be much more expensive than that, and it will run bigger resolutions with bigger graphic details with bigger framerate. And you can use it for other things, too.
