Its just a bit worrying for those who only game on console and with Sony now nickle and diming for literally every single feature, its basically a la carte now, what is this looking like for the next generation of consoles. I think people being critical of this is a very good thing. Not to mention the marketing switch up that has happened with the pro, don't forget everything this pro console is doing is exactly what was promised of the base PS5 in its marketing.

A lot of people getting it are paying around 350$, my bro paid 250$ and I paid 350. If people traded in their consoles earlier last month trade in values were higher. People complaining about the price really missed the timing on the best price cut for the Pro but there is still time 🤷🏾‍♂️ it is an optional buy. I’m super excited to play monster hunter wilds in the best quality on console. It’s already shown running the beta quality mode at high frame rates.

I look at it like this. The basic ps5 was $500 with disc drive and less than 1TB. The pro has an extra TB of storage which usually costs about $100-$150 for an extra TB of storage. It also has an upgraded gpu graphics card. There's also other upgrades. Those are easily worth an extra $100-$200. Add those up, and that's $700+. Do I like paying that much? Absolutely NOT. BUT, I don't think it's that far off. I totally bought the PS5 Pro as well as a 30th anniversary dualsense. I'm stil working on getting a 30th anniversary dualsense edge. I already have like 8 dualsense controllers and 2 dualsense edge controllers. But I still want the 30th ds edge. And maybe a Chroma colored dualsense.

This to me is possibly the best way to enjoy gaming on a console that offers probably the most quintessential experience when it comes to graphics in console gaming. This is a huge step and people really undermine this stuff but to be fair I can understand the price Point for the digital console without a disk drive and stand, and so on and so forth. I don't know if it is confirmed or speculation, but the biggest thing I heard is - PSVR2 improvements in NMS. And I think it should work. Everyone is saying PSSR is not available in VR - that is strange, because it is still some lower res graphics that you can upscale, but still in NMS case you have dynamic resolution and the better GPU should help in any way .. and just imagine if they add PSSR support.

If someone plays in performance mode but really wishes it looked better….this works, right? Job done. I would honestly say if someone always plays in graphics mode and is happy with 30fps then maybe just stick with the base console. For everyone who is soon getting theirs. If I was a gamer, this is a system I would be looking at. What are the issues I have with gaming is that you were locked into a platform when you want to play a certain game a large amount of the time. This is where games that are played on Windows systems have an advantage I feel.

The base PS5 doesn't have 1TB of storage. Also, the way you describe the benefits acts as if there isnt a 60fps mode on the base PS5 already. The smoothness is already present on pretty much every game you said "felt smoother". The difference is visual clarity and that's what I would have focused on in the review. Kind of misleading uninformed people here.

The Pro upgrades are on a game by game basis. He mentioned Last of us 2 showed far better image quality at 60fps on the Pro compared to PS5. This should apply to all PS5 games with perfomance modes looking far better on the Pro. That new Ant game using UE5 offers a 60fps mode on Pro not available on PS5, XSX/S that max at 30fps.

It’s clearly not aimed at me. I only bought my PS5 original version last year and TBH I’m just a casual gamer. I’ve still yet to play a lot of PS4 games so happy to play those on PS5 and not have the jet engine of the PS4 feel like it’s taking off. Having all the additional resolution and extra frame rates would just be wasted on me. I just wouldn’t appreciate or notice it. This is a real fan boys purchase who wants the very best graphics, frame rate and has the monitor or TV to show it off on.

The PS5 Pro is the classic "do I need it? No. Do I want it? YES" product. I don't game enough at the moment to justify it, but if I was a play-every-day sort I'd appreciate it. And for some people it'll be more viable than a good gaming PC.

At least the Ps4 pro got both a cpu and gpu upgrade. The Ps5 only got a gpu upgrade . a extra 6 teraflops going from 10.3 to 16. Not the upgrade like the Ps4 pro was .

It may be $700, but simply just either take your old PS5 ( if you have it ) and trade it in to either GameStop for a few hundred or via Sony direct site , there is a link to a third party company that takes trade ins for cash. ( they also take Xbox , PC parts, other Sony products and other things ). I’m trading my old PS5 for its value at $300 so that shaves the $700 price tag to $400 for the Pro.

It will be worth it even more when the new games come out, like Ghost of Yotei, GTA 6 and Wolverine. The PS5 is showing it's age when games like FF7 Rebirth, Dragon's Dogma 2 etc. are not looking so hot.

Just a note, Rebirth only looked bad in performance mode, in graphics mode it was incredible. Biggest difference in graphics fidelity I have seen between modes. If I get a pro it would be cool to do my hard mode play through at 60fps

6:27 if you have to zoom in 300% or be within 4 foot of high end screen to see difference how is it worth extra $300 over standard console for most people, yes if you’re a pro gamer, pixel peeper or just have money so why not (like Brian, not a dis just observation, actually happy for your success been watching for years), but for most people kicking back on couch won’t notice enough difference for extra $300, 👍👍video

Why don’t I game on pc? Because I work at a computer all day and I don’t want to sit at my desk when I’m relaxing as well. Also gaming PCs are way more expensive and require costly upgrades. For example i just checked what the latest 40xx Ti graphics card is selling for…. More than a ps5 pro. Then in my experience pc games almost always require customization to get them running at their best on a particular system. I don’t have the time or patience for that anymore. With a console I can sit in my living room with my wife, boot up a game and just enjoy it. But I get it, I got friends that are always tinkering and upgrading their PCs for gaming and the games look great and usually run great, and they love it. It’s just not for me.

It won’t sell well now, when the games start coming then it will be different but I see a price increase when those games do drop. Remember wolverine may only be a 2026 game, it remains to be seen if Yotei or GTA 6 will be released next year. I doubt a sweet baby inc infested venom game will get people running out the door for this box. The PS5 is fine if Sony prioritises the pro then a lot of people will be hurt.

This is the problem with having stronger gpus, many (not all) devs abuse the power by saddling their games with so much graphical enhancements it knocks the FPS back down to 30fps. Really wish platforms would make 60fps compulsory. Graphics be damned
