Part of the problem with TV's above 75 Inches is that you still have to take into consideration that consumers aren't necessarily getting bigger houses. With inflation, costs of living/actual costs of housing going up. I find it hard to accepting that TV size will continue to scale in the same way/rate they did from 40-70's.

I just bought a 75" tv for in my appartement. I find it more than enough indeed! I did have a 55" tv for 10yrs. I didn't have 4K, not any of the new features. Now i have "everything" with this new tv except for Dolby Vision which only comes on LG tv's (i think.) But i'm happy with my tv. A lot of people also start living smaller. The "tiny homes" have been more than popular over the last couple of years. And seeing these homes, they are very low cost, (pretty high grade) materials and functional. You wouldn't need more just but living and doing the daily tasks. (It really is great in a way.) Though i personally can't do it (for multiple reasons.) The most important one is the fact that i'm in a wheelchair (so i take up a lot of space... 😅) But there are some cool looking tiny houses out there!

Over the 2010s I upgraded TVs several times since they just kept getting cheaper and cheaper for larger and larger screens. I’ve been on 4K since 2016. That’s my current bedroom TV and it’s a 55”. The 65” 4K I got in 2018 is in my game room and the main living room has the 2021 model 75” 4K LG. The 75 inch tv is wall mounted to the brick on the fireplace and it seriously takes up the whole width of the fireplace. If I wanted anything bigger it’d have to go in the game room.

Biggest issue you’re going to run into with cloud gaming is the bandwidth to support it is only available in densely populated areas. Companies aren’t going to want to leave out the other 70% of their potential sales (I hope)
@macsuibhne02 Жыл бұрын
You are completely wrong. 50% of households in Europe have 100mb+ connections. That alone is as many households as the amount of consoles that will be sold by Sony and Microsoft combined. In "rural" Europe there's an average 30mb available. In total, 80% of Europe has what is considered high speed broadband that's more that capable of handling game streaming. And that's just Europe.
@pcallycat9043 Жыл бұрын
@@macsuibhne02 and much of the rest of the world does not. Across much of the world companies only invest in densly populated areas, which leaves larges portions of population stuck on older technologies, and lower bandwidths, or with tight data caps. Cloud gaming could chew through my entire monthly data cap in just a couple of days. Unfortunately, more to the world than just Europe.
@macsuibhne02 Жыл бұрын
@@pcallycat9043 You're still wrong. The point is that European population alone is a potential subscriber base larger than the amount of total console sales for an entire generation who could be paying a subscription every year. Russia is equally as fast and well covered. Asia is an even larger market. Australia and USA on average can easily handle game streaming. Countries where sales are nonexistent because of import tariffs are another huge market for game streaming services. Brazil for example where average speeds are 30mb. In fact, pretty much the only countries where internet speed is too low for streaming are countries where console sales are nonexistent.
@pcallycat9043 Жыл бұрын
@@macsuibhne02 If that was the case, sony and microsoft both would abandon console manufacturing and game sales and chase the 'larger streaming market that everyone has access to', and stadia would have worked out a little better than a failed, very expensive, experiment. @macsuibhne02 Жыл бұрын
@@pcallycat9043 They are going to abandon consoles. It's pretty damn obvious that they are. Microsoft especially. They are a software company with the worldwide infrastructure already in place to make it happen. Streaming is a way out of having to take a loss on selling hardware. With new technology already available and waiting to be used that reduces the bandwidth requirements to a fraction of what is needed now, it's only a matter of time. And just like the film/TV industry, once one company does it, the rest have to follow. Even Nvidia has seen the writing on the wall. Why do you think they got into game streaming when it fundamentally goes against the business model of selling GPUs? And yes the world is there right now. Games are being streamed on game pass by millions of people around the world. I use it on a regular basis and I would only describe my internet speed as good, not great. Geforce Now has been around for 7 years. Both services have grown simply because demand has grown due to download speeds being more than capable of handling it all around the world. Stadia is nothing more than a badly executed flop by Google. Surely you're not surprised they abandoned it!? They've abandoned the majority of projects they've started. Says nothing about game streaming. You're also forgetting that the overwhelming majority of people who play games around the world don't even have a console. 3 billion people play games but only 200 million of them buy consoles. You don't think the rest want an affordable way to play bigger titles?

My biggest dream for any future PlayStation is that it can play every generation of PlayStation on one console. The fat PS3 model’s could play PS1, PS2, PS3 games and upscale them! Also they could roll out new technology when it comes out because they don’t have to make a brand new console to put it in. Half way through the ps5 and series x 8k60 could become available but they wouldn’t make brand new consoles to roll it out they would wait for next gen when we get possibly 8k120 or 4k165 or whatever else 😂 maybe 12k60?!?

The arguments are well rounded- I however will breakdown the missed gaps in this well made episode. Tv’s are always $5000 at launch- was that way with the huge projection 500lb 1st gen flats, to thick flats, then plasma, lcd, led, oleo- etc// this will not change- case in point , cd players being similar, casettes from 8track. This is the way Mando. Aside from this- cloud gaming will advance at a break point mid- 2030 and become the standard vs console. Look at arcades vs consoles- not until mid 1990’s did consoles edge arcades gone. So from 1980 to say 1997 was that life cycle to console stand alone. Take current gen, with VR application that Sony has put tens of billions into with 1998-2002 projection glasses for “movie theater viewing” and current VR with ps4 that is compatible with ps5 that is “getting the ‘new gen (ps5)’ tweak” to sell the future. This too will evolve into a “ready player one” scenario of cloud gaming where u plug into an adapter and jump on a server that ACTS as the base console. I for see a break point with the generation after ps5 melding play pack monthly trash services and realizing a profit scale of selling tech that is “streamed” as a user agreement where they can milk rent from consumers. Gone are the dvds where u own the movie, but now stream the rights until they alter the contract/platform/et el and make you pay for services again. This is coming- and people are ok with it, not wanting to lug pounds of movies around or other guises of conveniences. Be prepared- i am from the future

I would gladly keep my physical game copies and all but that most likely gonna be gone. I would think that it is better go like Nintendo does that power of console does not matter. Even Pokemon game sure runs badly but that is the fault of studio and time limit they most likely had. Even the most beautiful and well done games are done through indie studios and those games mostly runs on everything. As I feel that artistic way to make games is the best way anyway and that kinda been gone with both Sony and Microsoft studios lately. Have to be so realistic that everything force to go cloud gaming when having shortage on everything and more and more scalpers being around.

@@josephafrica23 Nintendo stopped directly competing since 2006 with the launch of the Wii. GameCube was the last time Nintendo was directly competing.

I can tell you now a ps6 will cost $1000 at least for the step up to justify selling one. the newest tv/monitor to play with it you would be talking $2500 - $3000. so just get a gaming p.c for that money

They just need to do like steam a system small but an actual GPU card with a medium range CPU. With an OS developed for cloud.... wait that's the xbox one. But seriously, they need to focus on bringing a PC style Gpu.

Austin you're right I don't think we'll see a PS6 before 2034 and that's my opinion I don't think consoles with people's internet not working in some places we'll see disco away we'll see digital game but will never see the console go away That's how companies make their money

If people would stop being impatient and force scalpers to sit on their stock, the scalping issue would be reduced dramatically. It’s the console community’s own fault for paying the exorbitant prices to scalpers that keeps it going and means it will keep happening every time a new system gets released.

So across the board resolution seems like something we can’t afford. It’s pushed consoles prices up, results in better looking but poorer performing games overall and creates hurdles in every sector of the market. I think many people are honestly looking for a decent 1080 60p experience on a 40” tv but because of marketing we expect 4K 60-120p on a 65”+ tv. The average person cannot afford the latter even though they desire it; the same way I use a crop sensor camera system because FF is 2-3x the cost while barely offering much more. I mean one experience is clearly better but is it 2-3x the cost better?

Honestly, with things like DLSS technology I'm much less concerned and frankly far more interested to see what Nintendo does with the next switch then whatever nonsense ends up being the PS6 and Xbox next.

When I got the steam deck I was oh wow this is totally for me but probably not the “future” of gaming. It’s gonna be cloud unfortunately because of the profit margins and convenience.

It's not about the hardware. It's about the software to utilize the hardware. You can have a super powerful machine that won't even push the existing hardware. Let's focus on software fellow nerds.

Pretty much guarantee there won’t be a new console generation before 2026, except maybe Nintendo. After the newest GPU/CPUs replace the current, both consoles will be far cheaper to make as 7nm chip manufacturing will have less competing parts(besides intel). Nvidia, AMD, and apple will no longer need 7nm for mainstream CPUs nor GPUs.

Can’t someone just put Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo in an apartment and not let them out (except for grocery shopping and doing laundry…I’m crazy, not totally insane) until they have one freaking game unit that plays ALL their games (ALL PS games, ALL Xbox games and every incarnation of Nintendo video game)?

I think Streaming is the future, I'm 38 and still no new Console, I have a PS4 Pro. Also I just got high speed internet in my rural area this YEAR! Crazy I know. I've still never seen a ps5 or new xbox in person yet at the stores, so I'm really thinking of buying a Gaming PC for the first time ever

I think CoD not being on PlayStation would just single them out of the market. Not including Nintendo because they aren’t really the front runners of where you’d find CoD gamers. CoD would be on XBOX Consoles, and PC - Steam, XBOX, Activision/Blizzard Launcher. It feels like a toxic business play. Similar to Epic, and Apple issue.

What if another company was to release a console that's superior in a year or 2 with a price that competes, or is even better than both Sony, and Microsoft?
@Hallowed_Gerbil2 ай бұрын
My opinion is that we need fewer new consoles, we need better games, we have very few AAA games, but we keep getting new consoles to keep playing the same AAA games, for me I want better and more AAA games than a new console.
