I have one major issue with this video, namely the "emotional connection" part. The problem I have is that people forget oxytocin stops producing after so long and that feeling of "in love" is no longer there. This is where (in a marriage especially) it is up to that person to remind themselves what the core components of the person they loved are and to CHOOSE to love them still. Love is odd.... It starts as a sensation, evolves to a choice, then becomes a sensation again. Getting married is supposed to say "I know there's going to be a point where I question this, but as long as we don't cheat or beat, we work it out". Seems a lot of folk forgot that....

"6. They no longer feel an emotional connection" Love is actually a commitment more than an emotional feeling. If you're making important life decisions based on whimsical feelings that constantly fluctuate, you're going to end a lot of great relationships and hurt a lot of innocent people. If instead you make a commitment to a partnership because of (reasons why you value this person) then you will work to make it work no matter the weather .. that's love.
@TB-wt6et3 жыл бұрын
I recently left my partner who I truly loved and still do but I left because he was verbally abusive and I didn't feel respected. I miss him every day. Do u think I made the right decision
@jasonhutchins35183 жыл бұрын
@@TB-wt6et Only you can answer that question. Love/respect/commitment has to be given and received by both partners, not just one, or it doesn't work. From personal experience: we miss the mask our partners wore at the beginning, and are confused by the person we ended up with after the mask came off. Maybe look up videos about red flags prospective partners can display early on (like being rude/short to help staff at the same time as being sweet to you), and then deep dive through your memories with this person and try to identify when they had their mask on and when it came off to be abusive towards you. Then go over what you loved and now miss about them, and see if your relationship was with the mask or that person. No one is perfect, it takes 2 so don't solely blame them or yourself, take the pain and memories from this experience and grow from it. If you can learn what went wrong and what you failed to see before, maybe you can pass by others just like this last partner so you'll still be available and mentally ready for when someone doesn't display these red flags in the future and you'll know their value. Just remember it takes time and honest introspection to find your answers, no one else can answer it for you. :)

@@jasonhutchins3518 thank you for your advice. It makes sense to me and ur right hes not the only one that is at fault I think I didn't feel respected cos I didn't feel like I deserved respect because I was depressed. I let myself go and I changed but he asks me to come back all the time and see if we can get things back on track. I don't know what to do
@mygirldarby3 жыл бұрын
@@TB-wt6et Sometimes it _is_ all one person's fault. If your guy was verbally abusive, you are not to blame! You did not cause him to be that way and you can't make him stop being abusive. We have this belief in our society that it is both people's fault and there are two sides to every story, etc. I'm here to tell you that this is not always the case. Abusive people are very adept at finding their victims. They look for someone who has low self-esteem, someone kind and thoughtful, someone they can manipulate. This is why you will see a narcissist married to the nicest, sweetest person you've ever known. It is why a man who is physically violent will choose a quiet woman who tends to blame herself when anything goes wrong. These abusers know how to confuse such a person. Psychopaths are especially good at figuring out a person's weaknesses and using it against them. Please don't fall into the trap women far too often find themselves in. Women are much more likely to take the blame for things that are not their fault. You had no hand in your ex being verbally abusive. He is responsible for his actions, not you. Also I want to add this, I know you wrote this 5 months ago, but just in case you took him back, please set boundaries. You must not accept any abuse. If he does it again, tell him to get help and go to a therapist, and LEAVE HIM if he refuses. You could do therapy as a couple or individually, but just don't accept any abuse from him. Abuse escalates as an abusive relationship goes on. He will test how much abuse you will take and then alowly push those limits. This is true of verbal abuse and physical abuse. Don't take him back unless he gets help. You deserve better. In general, if anyone verbally abuses you, I find it helpful to _label_ it for what it is. So if your partner says something abusive, you immediately respond with "that is called verbal abuse and I will not put up with it." Call it out and label it.
@sdla6903 жыл бұрын
Don’t miss him, I think it’s more of a habit than love. Start a new life, make your self productive and busy. You deserve peace and respect, ppl who love you will not verbally abuse you. You gotta understand you deserve a decent healthy relationship.

honestly the physical intimacy part and the emotional connection part hit home for me. and the one little scene where the guy thinks "why am i still here? just to suffer?" is how i feel every day. i've been in a long term relationship with my girlfriend for 4 years and 6 months and i feel like she isn't attracted to me anymore and doesn't feel an emotional connection with me anymore. it's silly that i think this because we're actually still dating right now. she hasn't broken up with me yet. but i feel like i might have to break up with her. the problem is i'm already to emotionally invested into our relationship and attached to her that even JUST thinking about breaking up overwhelms me with feelings of heartbreak and loneliness and it makes me want to cry. but at the exact same time i feel miserable in my relationship. i mean what are the chances that she wants to break up with me too but is also in the same situation i am? maybe it's possible that she still loves and cares about me but wants to break up with me and can't bring herself to do it because she's also attached and emotionally invested into our relationship anymore. but honestly i feel like she definitely isn't attracted to me anymore and like she definitely doesn't feel that emotional connection. in fact, it's possible she might not even love me at all. she always gives me reassurance and tells me she loves me whenever i ask if she still does but lately it's starting to sound like a huge lie. her words say that she loves me while her actions and behavior say that she definitely doesn't. it's like there's no way to solve this situation without going through tremendous amounts of pain. either i break up with her and feel heartbroken or i stay with her and feel miserable. i know whoever reads this might be thinking "just tell her how you feel and talk things out. communication will help you figure it out together". but i've already tried that. i could always try it again but i feel like i'm not gonna get any different or better results. i don't know honestly... i'm sorry for using the comment section to vent about my feelings. i don't want to burden anyone else with what i'm going through.

The first nine years of our marriage hit all these problems. We were both struggling with our respective mental illnesses and the entire relationship was about to fall apart, with my wife leaving me, and she was in agony when she thought about it. We hung in for so long because we were close friends and loved each other dearly, and we pushed each other to seek help. In our case, meds and therapy allowed us to finally have our own thoughts without so many triggers, and because we were friends, we were able to repair the hurt and build on the good stuff. Now our relationship involves all the needs outlined in this video, plus more. When one of us becomes disregulated, the other can be there as loving support. Self-care saved our marriage.

I waited too long to ask for help and that's on me to accept, but now it's on me to get the help without requiring focusing on them. Parts of me worry I made the wrong call, so much was missing from our relation and I am unsure what the right call is. I'm happy you were able to work through it all. What about incompatibility? I think that's important, too. If you love a person but feel incompatible because your core values are different and get in the way of your relationship that's also a reason why people leave someone. You realize you don't want to sacrifice your values for the person you love and you don't want your partner to change and sacrifice theirs, either.
@lylavati3 жыл бұрын
I think that somehow fits in these reasons. You can stay together, but it will be some work with different values. It can cause emotional distance, disrespect. I think you really need to talk about this a lot to find a way through it. And always have an understanding for the other person. All together I left my last realtionship because of incompatibility. 😅 The love was gone, as well as the respect, intimacy in every way... but our different plans of and priorities in relationshilps and life, caused this huge distance - and all those other mean things - and made this constellation unbearable.

@lylavati I agree that you can try to work it out. I also agree that sometimes it just happens that it won't work. Sometimes it just doesn't work out even if you try. On the long run if the values clash with each other and taking big decisions gets difficult and might make one unhappy it's for the best to leave, no matter how much you love someone. In a relationship you make certain sacrifices but then there are some that you shouldn't make. For me, in order for a relationship to work long-term it takes compromise and certain sacrifice. Those two are fundamental for me in order to be able to agree on things. My ex didn't think that way. I wanted at least two kids. He only wanted one. I would have liked to get married, he didn't. I'm more of a family person, he isn't. I wouldn't consider myself and extrovert but I'm more social than him. He's pretty much a loner and he likes it. My family has only seen him once or twice every year in the almost 5 years we've been together. He doesn't like sacrificing a lot of time for others, not even his best friends. He rather likes taking that time to spend gaming on his PC. I always try to defend his way of being in front of others but at some point I just realized I'm sacrificing my values and beliefs for him and he wouldn't. So I decided to leave. If I'm not willing anymore to sacrifice important things for him I'm not going to ask him to do the same. Changing your beliefs and values for someone else, basically sacrificing yourself to become someone you're not is not a sacrifice you should make. It's such a shame because other than that he's a really great guy and he was an incredibly loving and caring boyfriend. He always respected me. We had a lot of heated discussions when it came to attending my family events but other than that we never really argued about anything. Obviously since I do love him, the seperation sucks...it hurts a lot. But I just think in the end we both would be better off with someone more compatible.
@imaginativeIdeations3 жыл бұрын
Great point. That was the case with me once. This girl had feelings for me once, and I did for her but at different times, but because we weren’t compatible for one another, I had to turn it down because If love isn’t compatible then it will never work. True love is something that reveals itself years after knowing someone, or at a certain time unexpectedly. It’s more of a realisation imo.
@shaneshafer23342 жыл бұрын
This is so true, me and my girlfriend have been together about 5 months and we’re friends for 8 months prior to our dating. I watched this video after the fact and all of this is so valid. My gf would ask me to do a lot of things like don’t raise my voice, don’t ignore her or don’t hang up on her and I would always work with her and understand her, but then she would do the same thing to me and I kept telling her it’s not fair you ask me to do all these things but when I ask the same you just say it’s who you are and you’re not willing to change. When we’d talk about it she wouldn’t say anything or just be upset so I broke it off. She loves me very much and was able to see what she was doing was hurting our relationship and was able to promise she will listen and understand when something upsets me. Communication and empathy is so important, if you’re struggling then take this video and my trial serious because it’s true.

I decided to end it when I realized I never got what I truly wanted out of the relationship. They were able to skate by with putting little to no effort into the things I wanted, meanwhile I was sacrificing my own goals and dreams to make them happy. 4 years later it was time for me to go.
@sirprize51912 жыл бұрын
It means you had high expectations and stressed him the fk out. And you expect compensation for choosing to sacrifice youself. That was conditional and with an expectation. I broke up with her today because it was insanely stressful with all the expectations. We were both in love. People need to feel safe to show love and sacrifice, not stressed.
@rednationbeauty81573 жыл бұрын
Im the one who left. 100% correct. Some people don't listen to cues nor see them, especially during stressful times. Telling them straight forward of how you feel its the best way to let them know what you're lacking. It brings a huge chance for the other to change it. Or go to couples therapy. If its still doesn't work, Its best to leave. And that its one of the hardest things you'll ever do in your life! Trust me. Im day 3 away. Its not selfish, you will feel like you are tho, get a support group you'll need it!!! Cant stress that enough! Know they will be ok, you'll be ok, and loved will always be with you, sucks and it really is tough love. You did something you didn't want to do! You're strong and loved! Sounds like a personal low self-esteem issue. I believe if the individual learn to love themselves more they would know when to leave way before the relationship get serious but at the same time people change their mind despite if all these things were provided. I know people who met their opposite as friends then end up either breaking up or divorced because they no longer love each other due to falling out of love. Problem with love is an emotion that go on/off but commitment is being able to ride it out. Everything in life is a work in progress and it don't matter who your with good or bad. Yes there is many variables between good or bad in a person but realistically to lay out this video as some form of universal law is misleading. If what you laid out is accurate then their wouldn't be broken families after broken families, everyone would never enjoy being single and be in content and grateful with the person they have.

I take this as less of a coincidence and more of a sign that a video titled “6 reasons people leave the ones they love” showed up in my notifications. Last night my boyfriend was crying and said he wanted to break up. He loves me but he wanted to leave me because he was really sad and depressed and he didn’t want to burden me with his emotions, feeling he didn’t deserve to be loved after how he would act around me (well he isn’t around me. It’s long distance bc of covid but you get the idea). He goes through a lot of trauma. He grew up with abusive parents and lives with Dissociative identity disorder (multiple personality disorder). He was bullied and teased all his life for it. All he wanted was someone to love him but all his previous relationships ended in break up because none of them took the time to understand his feelings and frustrations. I never took his anger or any times he got upset personally. Having grew up with depression and other troubles of my own, I understood where he was coming from. He would cry and get angry all the time but I was always there for him. He was waiting for me to leave him and abandon him like others before him, but that never happened. I just had to tell him I love him and that I would never abandon him bc he means the world to me. Im really glad our conversation last night didn’t end in break up because if he left me I don’t know what I’d do without him nor would I want to imagine how he would cope without someone there love him

That was me. For 13 years I was afraid to leave because it felt like I was giving up. Only to realize he had given up 10 years ago. No hugs, no affection, no playfulness, no emotional intimacy and definitely no sex. Made me feel like a burden and an annoyance and I found myself isolating… It’s been a year and a half and it’s been the best year and a half of my life. He refused to acknowledge or even talk about how to make it better, meanwhile I was driving into self help stuff and doing the work. Our son knew I had to go and we never talk to him about any of it come on it’s just from what he saw. I wanted to set an example for him of what real love should be, because that wasn’t it. Best decision I’ve ever made. Now I have a great guy who loves me so much and it’s the best sex of my life, and he’s truly my best friend. You deserve the same!

Another reason is personal change or growth. I was with someone for 11 years and as time went on, I realized that the things that were important to us were very different in comparison. I felt like I took on most of the responsibilities of the household and started resenting my partner for not appreciating what I did with anything more than empty words and gifts. His actions said that he didn't actually care what I went through and expected me to continue taking care of everything. I kept telling him that what I wanted and needed more than anything was his help. When a person is exhausted and spends all of their time and energy taking care of someone that their life revolves around, that person gets burnt out in every way and gifts and thanks just don't cut it. I asked if we could get a new couch, new bed, a vacuum, stuff that in my eyes, we needed. I didn't think that they were shallow or unreasonable requests. I slept on an ancient futon, then an ancient couch for 8 of those 11 years so as not to disturb his sleep. I just wanted us both to be comfortable and able to function. He said it was all too expensive, but he had to always have the latest gaming consoles. Even the strongest love has a breaking point. If you really love someone who loves you too, please listen to their needs or you will lose them and end up wasting so much time in both of your lives.

The Lord gave us free will, when a person walks out on you, that is the main sign that they want to be free. Never force someone to want to be with you, that is not healthy for you. You need to understand that if someone doesnt want to be with you, it's okay, you will find someone else that does.

Thank you, this helped more than anything I've heard so far. I loved her with every ounce of love I had inside of me, and she said she was not the person for me. She promised me so many things yet still choose to walk away from me. I cared for her, always listened, never belittled her, always there. She said she loved me so much especially because of how I loved her, that she knew I loved her because of how nice I was even when she was mean to me. I gave her everything even when I didn't feel it in return and she still told me she was not my person, and that even if she learns herself she's not sure she will ever want it again. Now I don't, but I'm heartbroken because she never reassures me. I see most of you in the comments talk about being hurt and having to leave, but what about them hurting you... and leaving you too, even after the promises to always love you. I can't find a KZbin video to help me through my misery. Please help

People in a relationship will sometimes complain, and that's normal. However, people need to hear positive comments too. I know someone that kept hearing nothing but negative comments. The woman he lived with could find fault, but could never give a compliment. He would vent to me, and eventually left her. He did say that if she would just say something nice or complimentary occasionally, that that would be a tremendous lift for him. However, apparently she couldn't. People need to hear positive things as that makes them feel like they are important and cherished. Negativity all the time doesn't work.

😤Some men were created to be celibate. Celibacy is their test in the world. Because they're sensitive and emotional and because they are dependent on people and human emotions of feelings of love and loyalty, celibacy is their test and celibacy is their answer. Celibacy is their blessing and celibacy they think is their curse. And whenever an intelligent and wise man goes into a relationship and seeks love and happiness in this world from a woman, he ends up suffering so much through other reasons that he ends up emotionally and mentally breaking down and becoming depressed and dependent upon a man emotionally physically and eventually sexually. And many of them end up falling in love with younger boys after sexually being involved with an intelligent and emotional man who feels dishonoured and humiliated by the sexually serving their boyfriends and husbands. The answer is very simple. Celibacy... Purity. Piety. Chastity. Although for a person who is mentally and emotionally depressed and spends all his life crying weeping and wailing and being sad, the greatest nightmare of that person is to be single and chaste. But if they could suffer that pain of celibacy for 3 to 5 years, then they would find such happiness and such fulfilment in their lives and they would never ever have to go through the long part of seeking sexual pleasure from a woman and then falling in love with a man and then becoming a criminal to keep that man and then becoming a murderer and a monster and a weak person who is dependent on another person's love and has to destroy the universe and every religion and every law just to justify themselves and they're sick sexual sexuality. Although celibacy and Chastity is a word of fear and terror to men. These two words hold every honour, every friendship, every happiness, every power, every fulfilment, health happiness honour respect true friendships ultimate happiness and ultimate success in this world and the next for every single emotional and intelligent man. No man in the world suffered because of celibacy. No man in the world ever suffered because of chastity. No man was ever famed because he was celibate. No man was ever tortured because he was chaste. No man was ever tortured and humiliated and assaulted because he was pious. No man was ever killed murdered or framed for being celibate and chaste and pure

I did all I could on my part. I tried to give emotional support, I tried to make him feel special and I gave him reassurance because I don't want him to feel hurt or ignored. However, I think our wants oppose with one another. He's not the type of person I want and need to have in a relationship. He neither respects me or listens to me. He gives me reasons to feel insecure. I don't feel loved anymore, moreover, it's leaning more towards hate, which left me deeply scarred after he deliberately left me. After that, I came to the conclusion that it probably wasn't love since the beginning, and that was one thing I clearly misinterpreted. I mistook sexual attraction for love. Later on, he tried communicating with me again? It made me wonder what for. But maybe he's back because he's bored and I'm the only one gullible enough to fall for his acts. Lately, I've learnt to be more in line with myself and what I actually want. This connection we have should not advance, since his intentions are obviously not pure, and nowadays, I think I'm doing quite alright in avoiding him. I don't want to get stuck in an emotionally draining situation ever again.

In the end we also lost all intimate contact and she broke up but I managed to convince her to get professional help. Every now and than I looked if everything is okay with her. Now roughly 8 years later I see her several times a year and we are very good friends who can tell everything to each other. I highly doubt that we will be a pair ever again but she often thanks me for the help in the rough times and I am happy that it turned out that way -> I just want to say: the end of love can have endless reasons but it doesn't allways mean the end of a relationship.

I left her about 19 months ago because most of the reasons in this video. It was a hard decision but after seeing each other for over two years, I knew that I no longer wanted her in my life. I miss her and have thought about her everyday since, but videos like this remind me why it was the best choice.

Other reasons include the following: 1. They feel insecure with themselves 2. They feel their partner deserves more, better 3. They aren't ready for commitment themselves 4. They feel too mentally and emotionally damaged 5. They feel they'll never be good enough for anyone due to their own insecurities The list is endless

@Udita Khangia work to change the way your mind thinks. It doesn't happen overnight, but it works wonders if you work at it

@@SpiritedSoul1986 what exactly should I change in my mind in this case? I love my gf very much, but she has deep trauma - she has never been loved neither in past relationships nor in family. And she also feels uncomfortable about phisical contacts with anyone. That's why she think she is "strange" and belives I deserve someone better. I told her her I love and acceprt her anyway and suggested to take some time and then start to talk as friends, like we used to. But this time she should try to tell me, if there any detail, which makes her feel uncomformable. From my side I will try not to push on her and not to hurry. She agreed. What also should I do to make her feel better in our relashionships? I know, it will be difficult, but I want to try

@Вадим Ибрагимов so I'm not a psychologist but I went through a similar situation with my own boyfriend. He never gave up on me until I believed that I was worthy of love, kindness and respect. We have a history spanning back to almost 11 years, but he gave me space when I needed it, encouraged me to do better, be better, told me endless good things about me until I believed it, etc. Positivity, kindness, respect, showing her that not everyone is out to hurt her, etc. is what it takes to make it work. Never giving up, being there for her even if she pushes you away or tries to. Being everything she never had will change her world entirely. Simply showing her she's nothing less than human and worth the fight because she is so much more than she ever believed.

@Вадим Ибрагимов everybody's situation is different, but basically a good rule of thumb is to treat everyone as you want to be treated yourself. Never give up on the people/person you love. Everyone has their own trauma from something or other. Being there and not taking the constant pushing away or anything personal because it's not actually about you but how they feel about themselves and they need to work through it for themselves with someone who cares standing by them encouraging them, supporting them, simply just being there.

Don't forget the narcissists...the one's you can't make a relationship with no matter what.

I am deep in the studies to determine the clear picture... I have been in a foggy relationship/marriage for 8 years and we have both had our parts, no doubt but I was absolutely experiencing many new things that I hadn’t experienced in previous relationships and did not see all the red flags.. admittedly, they were there... oh hindsight, my painful ally.... I am dealing with more of the either or a mix of covert/vulnerable narcissist, cptsd, anxious detached avoidance type of issues... but I’m just glad that the clarity has finally started, as of 12-21-2020.... Healing will happen either way... 💜♾🙏🏼🕉

I remember being vulnerable once. I remember as if it were yesterday. The empty void I was in was filled in a second the moment I saw her. My thoughts, body and soul fixated on her. Her beauty was limitless and her voice was gentle. Moments that a person will never forget mainly when one feels as if the air in their lungs were their last. I was completely vulnerable that I fell deeply in love with this woman. 4 years later, I know parts of her but she knows all of me. That day she wore a dress white as if were the first light I saw. No color could radiate her Beauty and flaws more than white. My heart was in awe. Music started playing but was drowned out when all I could do was gaze upon her elegance. It truly was a sight to behold. Words were exchanged but before I could say anything, her love was sealed with another. I love her. I always will but her happiness is what matters.
