The “being close friends without any conflicting feelings” part is really difficult, if not impossible in some cases. I’ve personally given up on being friends with people I was in love with: either they retained some sort of romantic / sexual desire, or I did. And it would always make things complicated or somebody would get hurt all over again when the other person starts dating someone else... I wish you all the best!! It’s not easy. But since your girl broke it off due to distance, the biggest favor you can do yourself is to take a lot of space & time away from her now to “get over” those feelings. I would recommend no contact (or as little as possible) and going “cold turkey” for a while because otherwise your feelings will be reinforced every time you see or speak to her, and it’ll take that much longer for romantic feelings to go away. Place your own emotional well-being on a higher priority as your contact with her right now. Good luck!

But placing my emotional well-being above contact with her would mean I would put my emotional well-being above my mental state, because I can always talk to her whenever things 'dont go as planned' (bad grades) and I can talk about whatever I want and just not think of all the problems and Just have a relaxing conv. Cutting that off will build up stress and leave me exposed to all the people who react harsh on my bad grades... Pressured, Ill fail more often and that'll make the reactions on these fails harsher and it will just repeat untill I mentally fall over and kms. Oh well, dont think that'd be bad, right?

I told my crush I liked him recently, he said he felt the same although nothing has come of it yet, which is fine for both of us as we don’t feel the need to rush into things. I'd like to fall inlove :PP Storytime~ Someone fell "inlove" with me (in " " because you can never be too sure, could just be infatuation). It's been about 3 years so I'd say he's pretty loyal. We've only chatted consistently recently because I wasn't close with him before and he's been pretty much starting convos/greeting me everyday (aii have never started a convo with him for 2 reasons: I'm not good at conversations as I'm a social introvert and I know a small action of mine will make him jump). Now, I'm pretty sure I'm not inlove... yet. I haven't officially pushed him away because I'm betting on the chance that I'll eventually fall inlove and since there's not a lot of loyal people like him out there. However, I also didn't say that I like him and have said that he most likely have the lowest chance with me. He said he'd take that chance and at this point, idk if I'm an asshole because I feel like I'm playing with him xD I am clearly aware that he's head over heels for me so if I tell him to stay away from me and move on, it would probably destroy him. And since I'm not so sure about my feelings and opinions, I'm keeping and talking to him as normal. Hopefully I don't regret my decisions and hopefully I won't keep him until I find someone else that I like because that's just going to be so sad. I have experienced all 7 signs with the man I have been with for over 10 years. 12 to be exact now. The stages that stands out the most for me, I believe are 2, 6, and 7.

Hi, just thought I’d mention that sometimes a different path can happen after/during the discomfort stage. Instead of breaking off or resolving your issues, a couple can try to ignore their problems. All for fear of breaking up or the consequences of doing such. Ex: A happy couple is doing great and with one kid and another on the way they decide to get married. Both sides of the couple notice some things they don’t really like about each other, but with a kid coming and the wedding they don’t notice it. But at some point along the way they start to get into fights more often and realize they aren’t as great a fit as they thought. The argument go on and they can’t seem to resolve the conflict. But they realize that with three kids now and all the happy moments they shared that they aren’t ready to separate. So the discomfort stage goes to unhappily staying together.
