Spot on, I don't have ADHD when I'm in an optimum environment for my brain

Thank you for addressing this. I am with you, and I particularly agree with the disempowering and harmful nature of seeing the ADHD label as permanent and fixed.

I love your reponce, I thought is was very good. My personal belief is that terms like "enabling" are simply about control over a third party via a proxy and has nothing to do with medicine likewise statements like "learn to let things be" promote learned helplessness under the guise of "help". I look at these statements differently because I am aware of what Martin Seligman did to dogs, or what Ewen Cameron was doing with de-patterning and stuff like that. To me it seems like the structure is more about control than anything else. On the PTS front back when it was still "shell shock" at least for soldiers the soldiers would be seperated and have to talk to a psychologist daily, after a while they were sent back and where reconized as preforming better after. If I remember correctly that is what lead to "Shaping Psychiatry by War". J R Rees then went on to bring it into every aspect of civilian life as well. Again, making "better" soldiers is about controlling and improving the military not helping the soldier. I think deep down that commentor does not realize that they are trying to push their beliefs onto others and learned methods of intense influence that have been ingrained in their mind so deep it becomes second nature and does not realize they wanted to push their beleifs onto you by assigning you a label as "enablist". When the book "Shaping Psychiatry By War" came out a person commented on the book saying that books like "Erewhon" should be taken seriously and I belief they were right. The major concept of Erewhon was the legal system were both parties the are guilty of a crime, meaning if you allow someone to commit a crime against you then you are guilty like they are, if you are poor, you are guilty for allowing yourself to be poor which is a crime in the book. I think Psychiatry really did do that, if a person is assaulted and have trauma after then they are now guilty of having a "mental disorder". Anyway great video glad I got to see it.

I can't help but view the adhd community the same as I would astrology or other similar proponents, Meyer Briggs etc, by which people allow their entire life to be governed. I include Psychiatry into those. It is a religion. And I guess that is why you are getting such aggressive feedback. You are threatening their worldview - in which they can avoid responsibility. Many if not all adhd people are deeply shameful of their perceived inadequacies (probably from overly critical parents). I am myself diagnosed with it and subsequently poisoned with ritalin. And it is all BS. I have experienced this nasty feedback whenever I've tried to challenge their views.

the try harder thing is the double edged sword here. You are right with adhd and you give the reasoning which is sound. there have been cases of conditiones where the try harder approach was even detrimental for example Myalgic Enzephalomyelitis / Chronic Fatigue Syndrom. i think it comes down to patient autonomy. In the end i think the person has to endure your opinion but must have the right to not be coerced into treatment. the demand to remove your piece would ultimately create echo chambers as you explored with your last guest Todd Rose. by the way from what i have heard and seen on the internet i believe the US and british system has to much coercion into involuntary treatment
