Being an old vintage synth musician I love to see something that has the build, the class and genius (with a 2020 mindset) and few synths and modules has all this. Soma Labs stuff does and Pulsar23 in particular is to me the most awesome contemporary synth on the market. I am hoping to own one later this year. Watching these videos the time being and it does things to my spirit's wanderlust.

thanks for that great tutorial. It's incredible to use Pulsar-23 Bass as a Synthesizer and the other modules as modulation and manipulation sources. It becomes a fascinating modular instrument.

As I watch this video, I appreciate the subversiveness of having taken the definition of a synth bass module and perverting it to ignore the typical manufacturer conventions. Lovely

I have a question. I am trying to control the drums and the bass synth from one external midi device (Tracker); how should I go about ensuring that the bass synth does not trigger chromatically when the other 3 drums are triggered? Is there a range limit on the bass synth notes to allow space for assigning the other three instruments?

are you planning to make any of the sections of the pulsar into eurorack modules? i'm building my first rack and the lyra fx is going to be a big part of it. i'd absolutely love to get a pulsar, but i can't afford it right now. regardless, this machine is on my wish list of things i simply must own one day. by far the most unique drumsynth of the decade.

Although I second the idea of having more Soma Labs modules, I think there are already some modules that may give you (almost) the same capabilities :) For instance I would advise the vpme.de quad drum voice if you want to go drummy !

Hey Vlad, I was wondering whether it is still possible to order a Lyra-8 or a Pulsar-23 in a custom color? I remember this was possible a while ago. If not, I totally understand. I can imagine that's a bit difficult when sales volume increases.

I'm guessing it would sound great, but have heard people ask about how to get a consistent sound from it. I would say use it, then sample it for those genres or mixdowns and mastering would be harder. I'd still be sorely tempted to buy and use this in some kind of live gabba set though!

@@BrawnyBeats Yes indeed Ableton Live Rec on and than experimenting. Later review to result and snip out what you have created good and through away what is shit. I bought this machine because it’s really different from the standard machines xy. Subtractive or additive or FM ... it’s strange and that is the adventure.

I really love the Pulsar-23 and most of your work, so this is not criticism, but for myself I would have prefered another analogue drum channel instead of Bass, personally I would have put a second BD or SD in, as everyone has a decent monosynth now.

As demonstrated in the video @40:27, the bass module has a PERC mode. In this mode it can do all kinds of percussion sounds. It can be your second BD, SD, Tom, Hihat, even shaker... This is brilliant!
